Retired NFL players who expanded their wealth with side hustles

NFL side hustles are among the most important in sports, as football is a dangerous game where any day could be a player’s last. Due to this fact, it is not just paramount that NFL players have a side job, but that they are able to continue making money from it once they step away from the field.

When it comes to chasing a bag, longevity lives the longest. In our world, everyone has dreams of grandeur. It takes an unlimited supply of energy, endurance, work ethic, and timeliness to make it into those top tax brackets.

And athletes need to keep this in mind, as their bodies performing at physical peaks is no longwinded guarantee. They need to make their money from their craft, but at the same time think about their future.

With that being said, here are five ex-NFL athletes that have racked up a bag via sports, and then continued this trend through their subsequent side hustle ventures.

Brandon Marshall (Side hustle – Broadcasting, etc.)

Marshall was a highly-talented wide receiver who had several productive years in the NFL. But a big part of his story was that he became injury-prone early.

Rather than put his body through endless procedures, Marshall developed an early exit plan and leveraged his personality. He knew he could be successful in a side hustle outside of the NFL, and he has been.

By accepting wisdom and surrounding himself with people who are smarter than him, Brandon Marshall soaked up knowledge on the daily.

Terrell Owens (Side hustle – Prototype 81)

terrell owens

Well-known for his outgoing and emotional nature, T.O. was not always the wisest connoisseur.

Trying to please others through material flair can be quite the slippery slope. Nearing bankruptcy, Owens needed to flip the script. And that is exactly what he did with his side hustle off of the NFL field.

Side Hustle Ventures: Prototype 81 – a fashion-forward sports luxury line that combines fit and function.

With inspiration from Lululemon, T.O. aims to provide comfort in the form of oversized clothing that falls within three different categories – Core, Active, Exclusive.

Stationed in California, Owens has been able to source different fabrics within important fashion districts. Not quite financially responsible from the jump, T.O. pounced on an opportunity to utilize his persona to chase a bag and reframe his trajectory.

In the famous words of YG on ‘Big Bank,’ “I got white folks money that I won’t blow. And if you ask why, cause the white folks don’t.”

Roger Staubach (Side hustle – Real estate)

retired nfl players

This man is just different. From the outset of his retirement, Roger Staubach partnered with the Dallas Cowboys to create several opportunities for expansion.

Given that salaries were much lower during his era, Staubach worked as a real estate broker in the offseason. A determined and smart side job outside of the NFL.

Side Hustle Venture: By grinding, absorbing game from Henry S. Miller (Texas real-estate mogul), Staubach was able to sell his real-estate company for upwards of $640 million to a Chicago firm, Jones Lang Lasalle. He is currently the executive chairman for JLL.

Vernon Davis (Side hustle – Acting, producing, etc.)

Riddled with concussions and injuries that could hamper his livelihood, Vernon Davis decided to prolong his career with multiple types of bags. Looking for side jobs outside of the NFL was a savvy move for the savvy Super Bowl-50 winner.

He has starred in movies like Hell on the Border and Baywatch as well as series like The League and Inside Amy Schumer. Recently, his self-titled foundation raised $70,000 to feed frontline workers and children during the pandemic.

Tony Romo (Side hustle- Color analyst)

The man who infamously mishandled the field goal hold to cost the Cowboys a playoff victory against the Seahawks certainly exited much smoother than his entrance.

As a mainstay on CBS, Romo prepared for announcing just like a player and watched tape prior to every outing. This has allowed him to provide excellent insight and damn-near predict plays as they unfold.

Together with Ezekiel Elliot, Tony Romo started the National Fantasy Football Convention as a SportsCon-type venture. He continues to fight an uphill battle with the NFL while remaining business savvy in his side hustles.

NFL side jobs should inspire everyone, not just pro athletes, to get an extra bag

Regardless of how you do it, it is so important to live below your means. However, it is much easier said than done. Especially if you have never touched those types of bags before.

Either way, those who live humbly and utilize their funds for investments typically outlast those who blow their wealth on material goods. Pouring back into communities, creating foundations, and finding a way to stretch the bag will always be the way.

If NFL players (who in most cases, dreamt their whole lives of reaching this level), can manage their funds and set up side hustles to not blow through all of their money right away, anyone can.

So look at Brandon Marshall, Terrell Owens, Roger Staubach, Vernon Davis, and Tony Romo when thinking about your next move. We may not all be millionaires yet, but like these NFL athletes, we can be smart with our side hustles and money. Earned not given — always remember that.

Outlandish reasons why Kanye West hasn’t dropped an NFT

Kanye West just released a soulfully christened album, “DONDA,” without an NFT. Should we be concerned or looking out for more, especially since the debut of his DONDA STEM Player?

The album runs one hour and forty-eight minutes long with 27 tracks.  DONDA gives light to younger artists while maintaining a reinvigorated spiritual approach.

Yes, he just dropped his 10th album but when is Ye going to drop an NFT? Here are some things Kanye might be doing instead of dropping an NFT.

Kanye West does not let anyone dictate his freedom of thought

Kanye doesn’t shy away from a rant. We have seen it time and again that he loves to find the longest winded routes to make his points.

Perhaps he’s gearing up for another TMZ free think session to claim that 400 years of slavery were by choice?

People call Kanye crazy. Have you ever thought it might be the industry he is in?

Kanye does not obey the rules laid out by society. We commend his ability to absolutely buck the system and display genius levels of creativity.

While 60 percent of his statements may be nonsensical, he iterates some incredibly profound outlooks that may not ever be uttered if it weren’t for his existence.

kanye west NFT
Kanye Hepburn (via Globe Photos/Bondly NFT team)

Maybe he’s preparing for another Joe Rogan appearance? We loved his futuristic stance and the free game offered on that podcast.

Maybe we are not as advanced as a civilization as we may think. Kanye brought many concepts to the forefront during that chat – three major takeaways below:

“The longest moments of our lives are memories.”

“What is the Earth worth?”

“We are in the future.”

Kanye can be rather boneheaded too

Perhaps Kanye will endorse Trump once more after the hype surrounding his album dies down. We all know that Kanye is willing to go to extreme measures to promote his product.

As a matter of fact, it seems as if we only start to hear chirps from Kanye when he is trying to sell something.

Oh, I know why he hasn’t dropped an NFT! He’s getting ready to unleash fury on another innocent journalist.

Sway already took enough browbeating from Kanye West for no other reason than mounted frustration about fashion rejection. Who knows? Maybe Adam22 will be Kanye’s next interview victim.

Kanye West makes plans to drop an NFT and God has a whole other plan

Finally, we know why Kanye has not released an NFT. He is taking the time to go off-script and tell the world how to help Hurricane Ida victims. We all know Kanye refuses to adhere to societal standards.

Whether you love him, like him, hate or him, or pay him no mind – Kanye is doing something right. How so? He makes the people have an opinion and speak his name.

“Because we living in the times that make Kanye West go pray.” (Jim Jones)

So while everyone has their own stance on Kanye West he continues to revolutionize hip-hop, fashion, and technology. Look no further than the DONDA STEM Player which allows you to customize a song in real-time. Pretty neat.

Kulture Hub exists as a mainstay in our global stratosphere. We are quite literally the centrifuge and inner circle that everyone should tap into for all things fashion, culture, music, and technology.

As long as water replenishes, food nourishes, and shelter provides comfort – Kulture Hub will satiate every newsworthy need you might have, even if it means pushing Kanye West towards dropping an NFT for DONDA.

NFT real estate is better than ‘real’ estate: Here are 5 reasons why

The lines between reality and virtual reality continue to blend streams every day. This begs the question: should you invest in real estate or NFT real estate?

Some of the commonalities between real estate and NFT real estate are virtual tours and scarcity. They also share in common the fact that developers aim to set up shops in downtown districts.

Please enjoy five reasons why investing in NFT real estate may prove advantageous.

nft real estate
Gear up for the future – don’t get left on the wrong side of history (via Boudewijn Huysmans)

1. Location matters, but only to an extent when it comes to NFT real estate

The reach that your property exhibits can extend much further. Given the fact that your property exists on the blockchain, it can stretch eons beyond traditional real estate. NFT real estate transcends time and space and will exist permanently.

2. Traditional problems such as upkeep and repair are not as taxing

Maintaining sound property structure in real life involves all kinds of unpredictable variables. On the blockchain, a minor tweak here and newly written code there, and your issues are solved.

Yes, money will be involved but keep in mind you are not actually living there. Therefore, you do not have to deal with actual consequences that might arise from deterioration.

3. Real-time solutions provide convenience, ease of access

Prop tech = property technology and soon enough early adopters will surpass the ultra-conservatives. As of right now, it is still relatively early. With that, those who infuse proptech into their NFT homes experience a direct correlation between security and convenience.

All homeowners want amenities. Due to the fact that these processes are designed for frictionless and seamless experiences, NFT owners receive greater amenities such as automatic payments, hassle-free deliveries, and risk insulation.

4. NFT real estate is so brand new and it is very open for development

There are hardly any zoning laws associated with NFT houses. This means you do not have to deal with much authoritarian oversight and/or complications if you would like to renovate your NFT home.

Therefore, the market value associated with these virtual homes could play significantly in your favor.

5. NFT houses exist with the user in mind

As we make our way toward Web3 integration, the user must be put at the forefront. NFT houses exemplify this because they are not made for one overarching owner.

In essence, they are insulated from risk with streamlined interactions that lead to wealth being spread amongst the consumers.

Coast with us as we continue to delineate the entire NFT space while it unfolds right before our eyes. In real-time, Kulture Hub is the go-to powerhouse source for all things NFT and cryptocurrency.

NFT houses will prove to be status symbols that appreciate in value as intellectual property and tokenization contain the keys to the virtual kingdom.

NFT restaurants hit NYC but do you even have a crypto wallet fam?

The first NFT restaurant is coming to NYC and we couldn’t be more intrigued.

Picture this. It’s the year 2022 and the debate rages on revolving around where to eat. You have thrown suggestions out there but none of them will stick. Indecision creeps in, hunger mounts and your patience begins to grow thin.

Could an NFT restaurant solve the food debate?

Our one fight: The sharer vs. the withholder.

Rather than letting a back-and-forth carry on between you and your significant other why not try the NFT restaurant?

An NFT restaurant you say? Why yes, opening in Fall 2022 Gary Vaynerchuk and the VCR Group will launch their NFT restaurant in New York City.

Dining at this exclusive establishment will require a membership to access features such as cocktail lounges, private culinary experiences, and NFT tokens.

VCR Group banks on intellectual property

The three tokens associated with the world’s first NFT restaurant each represent a myriad of experiences. These three tokens allow connoisseurs to receive varying experiences based upon which token they select.

Not only do these tokens grant unforgettable access but they exist as an asset on the blockchain which could be sold on the secondary market.

This NFT restaurant development illuminates the fusion between old-fashioned hospitality and modern era technology. The important part to focus upon when it comes to this newly minted cuisine is its value proposition.

The value offered clearly exhibits meaningful and thoughtful intentions. Since when have you been able to flip and make a profit from eating at a restaurant?

vcr group
The VCR Group just launched but will prove its lasting power as an industry mainstay (via VCR Group)

Success gained from iterating upon a SMART contract

If you choose to HODL this token, your benefits may outweigh a quick flip. That would implicate future dining experiences and perhaps an even greater stake in the market once more investors sink their teeth into this endeavor.

“Human actions taken into context are a great predictor of human behavior.”

Gary Vee

Indeed, human activity tends to repeat itself with trends and patterns. The VCR group remains firmly aware of this inclination toward repeat performance and results.

Given the fact that they are able to replicate experience (dining out) and merge it with innovation (NFT) they certainly will generate buzz in order to provide a frictionless, scalable, and sustainable experience.

Black August means accountability: Why it’s time to lock up Jason Meade

It’s now been nearly nine months since Casey Goodson Jr. was shot and killed by Franklin County Sheriff deputy Jason Meade. And Black August is a time more than ever to hold wrongdoers accountable.

“I arrived on the day, Fred Hampton died – real ones just multiply”

(Jay – Z & Kanye West – Murder to Excellence)

Casey Goodson Jr. – a twenty-three-year-old man with his head on his shoulders and a fatherly presence – is no longer with us. Thus far, the details surrounding this case are being shielded and sheltered.

An autopsy report shows five shots to the back and one to the buttocks from the likes of Jason Meade – retired Rosedale Free Will Baptist Priest and Franklin County Sheriff deputy.

Some quick-to-know facts…

  • Casey Goodson died on his kitchen floor in front of his grandmother, Sharon Payne and two toddlers – keys still in door.
  • Casey Goodson had his CCW and purchased firearms legally from Vance’s Outdoors.
  • Jason Meade (17 year veteran on Franklin PD) was the sheriff deputy assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force on that day.
  • Casey was not an object of the search nor was he wanted by law enforcement prior to the incident.
  • There were no bodycameras involved as Franklin County does not require officers to do so.

Initial autopsy reports by Franklin County coroner, Anahi Ortiz showed the manner of death as homicidal with multiple shot wounds to the torso.

“Goodson drove by and waved a gun in the direction of authorities which prompted confrontation.”

(U.S. Marshal Peter Tobin, DDN) just hours after the incident who later recanted statement

Goodson’s mother posted via Facebook that her son was coming home from a dentist appointment with Subway sandwiches for his family. He had worked until 3 A.M. on that day. Subsequently, he was unlocking the door when the AR rounds rung out in his back.

The family attorney for this case is Sean Walton. Jason Meade has since resigned with a disability pension privilege. At a recent rally Goodson’s mother, Tamala Payne said, “Jason Meade is still at home.”

“Jason Meade needs to be held accountable for his actions. We’re tired of waiting. The demand for justice is on. We have special prosecutors working on the case and we want charges.”

What is Black August? An explainer for white people

Have you ever heard of Black August?

For all the years of condemnation, segregation, and second-class citizenry, black culture and black people deserve appreciation and widespread embrace. The shortest month out of the year is clearly not enough.

It almost feels like giving Black people one month of appreciation is an even farther upper hand slap to the face in an attempt at appeasement. For the countless years of tumultuous treatment, welcome to this culturally creative piece detailing, “Black August.”

At Kulture Hub, we embrace Black August by focusing upon accountability. We must be accountable to cultural heritage, the ones who paved the path, and those who tried their hardest to change the landscape.

We also make it our journalistic duty to hold those who prove to behave unjustly to a high standard of accountability. Everyone in this world has free will and all choices have consequences.

Why should I care about Black August?

Black August originated from George Jackson’s struggle during the San Quentin Prison Riots. The effort to commemorate legends of color is about reconnecting and reminding citizens how powerful you can be together.

black august founder
The quote does all the justice (via Workers Voice)

It also serves as a time for collective grief, clarity, rage, and rebellion. It is of the utmost importance that those elements be channeled nonviolently. The fact of the matter is, members of the human race are fed up with the way fair-skinned continue to enslave and brutalize people of color.

Whether overt or covert, the truth is glaring and systemic racism still exists as an undeniably putrid cobblestone to our country’s foundation.

How to put your best boot forward

Black August is a time to reflect, revitalize, revisit and refuel. In order to carry the legacy of ancestors and carry on the fight toward solidarity, reflection proves crucial.

Being able to take a moment, pay homage to the ones who laid the groundwork, and truly reflect for days will determine what best course of action you might choose.

Additionally, August provides perspective in a way that allows productivity. The reason being, it is the last month before seasons start to change, school is starting and it can be a time to take inventory of your priorities.

If social justice continues to make the top of that priority list, enlist yourself into community-driven initiatives!

Some legends that could inspire your personal movement

Regardless, Black August deserves more traction. People like Gertrude Dorsey Brown, W.E.B. DuBois, or Fred Hampton are all honorable candidates to truly immerse yourself within and study the actions that made them effective.

All the details matter and in order to avoid history being repeated, we must possess inalienable familiarity with previous happenings.

With that, please do your Googles, not just during Black August. Keep absorbing wisdom, making the sacrifice through headstrong resistance, and spreading love. Avoid distractions on your path.

Most importantly, let go of thoughts and patterns that no longer serve your best interest. With these things, you can flourish within your life and do your very best to try to dismantle ancient practices within our colonialist country.

Wait, Cam Kirk is dropping an NFT with BACARDĺ Rum and the NAACP?

Cam Kirk is dropping an NFT?

Professional candor and rapport make for quite the creative interview. Cam Kirk solidifies himself within every genre that he is immersed in. His project with BACARDĺ Rum will launch on National Rum Day on August 16 and the NFT will be available to purchase on September 1.

Our conversations with Cam Kirk always focus upon creative energy and this one proved to be similarly interesting. Check it out below.

Bussing out the bottle questions

Kulture Hub: Today we are here with Kulture Hub and Cam Kirk to talk about his most recent NFT project. How are you today?

Cam Kirk: I’m blessed. I can’t complain at all. I’m excited about this new project that I’m rolling out. My first step into the NFT world. I’m really hype.

Kulture Hub: No doubt. So this is a limited edition, rare rum offering, how might I be able to get my hands on one of these bad boys?

Cam Kirk: Well, the rum, I believe, is gonna be at your regular liquor store. So this campaign that we’re doing together, though, is all in the promotion and a celebration of BACARDĺ’s new offering for National Rum Day, but the NFT itself is actually going to go to auction on September 1

bacardi cam kirk

Kulture Hub: Picture this. If you were to have got your hands on a Cam Kirk bottle of BACARDĺ at Morehouse College what would your night out look like?

Cam Kirk: A night out to me would have been one of the nights after I pass the test. It’s one of those types of liquids that you usually want to partake in when you’re celebrating something special.

“This studio is a product of more than just myself, I’m a solo photographer. But when it comes to my business, I’m nothing without my whole team…”

Cam Kirk
Kulture Hub: When you first started Cam Kirk studios, there was something called the Creatives Couch. How have you elevated since then? And what elements of the creatives couch still exist within your studios today?

Cam KirkSo our first Creatives Couch, we had like 15-20 people in and they got to sit one on one with a fashion designer named Original Fauni. Creatives Couch turned into our night school workshop series that we do twice a month in Atlanta. This involves an intimate crowd where we teach actual skills as it relates to photography and other parts of creativity.

“Our studio is rooted in community, community-building and collaboration.”

– Cam Kirk
Kulture Hub: Cam Kirk Studios just added two owners to its roster. Can you tell us more about the importance of having a good team around you and the importance of building equity with like-minded creators?

Cam Kirk: I actually took guys that really helped me build this studio from the ground up. My brother Keenan has been with me for about six or seven years now since before I had a car in Atlanta. Whenever I had a shoot, he was there to help and support me.

And when I was there with the crazy idea to open the studio, he was there putting in that sweat equity just believing in my vision. My little brother Marley had the same vision and actually just moved to Atlanta to help me take the studio to the next level.

Kulture Hub: In your Finally Focused feature you mention legacy quite frequently as a source of inspiration to keep growing not only as a creative but as a business. How does this NFT partnership with BACARDĺ prove your legacy?

Cam Kirk: I’ve been blessed, I’ve been just working, just trying to keep this thing going. Entrepreneurship has no on-and-off switch. It’s just on all the time. So I’ve been blessed.

“This BACARDĺ partnership is definitely a testament to legacy, to the power of our culture, and the power of the creative culture that’s coming up in the workings of hip hop.”

– Cam Kirk

The ways which humble beginnings keep Cam Kirk hungry

Kulture Hub: How might you and influx, that perspective from Lil Fivepoints into what this NFT which is a whole new virtual digital space?

Cam Kirk: Lil Fivepoints was a stomping ground for a lot of the scene. So we’re kind of stepping out there into a new world into this digital space with no crazy expectations besides just trying to learn more about the space and offer something cool and innovative.

Cam Kirk sees the value in NFTs

Kulture Hub: So what might the NFT rollout look like? What kind of details can you share with us about how you might present this entire showcase?

Cam Kirk: Yeah, so we’re working on a brand new website right now, actually, that’s going to house the NFT. And this website is going to be where people can find information not only about the entity but also about the Reserva Ocho Sherry Cask offering.

BACARDĺ teamed up with the NAACP on a project that’s going to help support black-owned bars and restaurants. So the proceeds from our NFT are actually going to go out to support them.

Kulture Hub: How might NFTs make their way into your studio?

Cam Kirk: I think the NFT space could definitely come through. Right now, we’re working on converting one of our spaces into a digital art gallery. We’re working on digital form projection, augmented reality yet it’s important to never lose that community feel and touch. We never get too bogged up in the digital space, we maintain what’s true to ourselves.

Is Spanish battle rap hot? Yartzi gives us a reason to watch Red Bull Batalla

Yartzi a.k.a. ‘El Cacique’ has graced the microphone and stamped his legacy in the world’s largest Spanish freestyle rap battle competition platform Red Bull “Batalla.” Repping Puerto Rico, Yartzi shared some insights and what it takes to wow the judges during battle.

Check it out.

Red Bull Batalla is a global freestyle rap competition that, since 2005, has provided a platform for the best hip-hop improvisers in the Spanish world to connect, develop and compete.

Within the last few years, the Red Bull founded project has become the world’s biggest international freestyle battle competition, uniting Spanish Latin America, and Spain.

Spanish battle rap hits different…

The roots of this improvised rap scene are as deeply connected to hip-hop as they are to the improvisation styles of traditional folk troubadours. It has evolved into a style completely distinct from that of hip hop in North America.

With Red Bull Batalla, Red Bull gives an opportunity for young MCs to train, perform and improve their improvisation and rapping skills.

“We go into competition with the mindset of trying to win each year. For me – each year that goes by it’s a little less about winning and more about making a statement, enjoying myself and getting the most out of every experience but there’s still the desire to win.”

Yartzi

Kulture Hub: What does the grand prize look like?

Yartzi: They give you an incentive for every round that you win and if you win the whole thing they give you another big incentive as well as the trophy and all the media coverage. Red Bull National and International can give major mainstream exposure to get more views. If you know how to handle things you can get two years of work from winning this competition.

KH: So given the fact that this is off the top of the dome, this is just what you can come up with – What type of freestyle format do you prefer? Are you a quick hitter? Or are you more of the slow let it sink in and marinate type rapper?

Yartzi: It depends on the adversary and it depends what technique you think you can use against them. Some people are more skilled rappers that elaborate more and you have to see what they lack so you can use that against them.

If they are a skilled rapper that constructs everything with a slow pace then you go at them with the fast pace and punchlines.

“The judges are going to evaluate for what the other one lacks. If the artists are on the same level it’s like cancelling. If you cancel the variance, then what’s left after that?”

Yartzi

KH: How do you get a feel for the best time to deliver your strongest punchline? Is it from the crowd? Is it just from instinct?

Yartzi: Giving out your best punchlines is like a fight, if you hit a mark three times from the start, then he’s gonna be all wobbly. If the judges see that he’s not responding the battle can get lopsided in your favor.

Me personally I give out the best punchlines when they do cheap shots. I always keep it respectful within the battle but when I see that my opponent throws that out the window then I immediately throw it out the window too.

spanish battle rap
The exposure garnered from these Spanish battle rap competitions cannot be emphasized enough (Yartzi Press Kit)

KH: When it comes to the beat selection, do you have any decision upon what beats are chosen? And if you do, how do you go about choosing the beats?

Yartzi: No, the DJ that’s on set has the responsibility of choosing the beats, and we just got to be ready for the beat that drops. You know, that’s a part of the game that’s part of adjusting to whatever is set up for you.

“It’s still a competition that gets you ignited and by winning you get the most out of it. I want to defend the title and try to take it for the third time. So even though I want to win I mostly want to enjoy myself to get the best out of the experience and learn from it.”

Yartzi

KH: Does the crowd really influence you? Or is there something you might see in the crowd? Or something that someone might say that just changes the entire way you go about it? Are there any defining moments?

Yartzi: When you get a good punchline, well, that’s obviously good because when you hear the crowd cheering you on, you get more hyped. But then again, that can be tricky, because if you just focus on throwing punchlines that will make the crowd scream, those might not necessarily be the punchlines that judges evaluate to make you win.

KH: Do you guys remember the show, Yo Momma with Wilder Valderrama? In what ways is this like that show? And do you ever dig up dirt on your opponent prior to the battle?

Yartzi: There’s always dirt. You can choose to use it or not. If you bring it into the competition it’s because you have a personal problem and you want to try and get your opponent distracted. It doesn’t do anything because the judges don’t really know if it’s true. I don’t really use that much [dirt] because it’s not relevant and does not focus on the concepts and formats judged in battle.

“The time you have to concentrate more and demonstrate what you’re made of is when you get hit with a super punchline.”

Yartzi
spanish battle rapper yartzi
Yartzi is a smooth maneuver (Yartzi Press Kit)

KH: What region were you placed in battle and where might you travel if you advance?

Yartzi: I do not have to go to the qualifiers since I came in first place last year. I go directly to the National on September 18 in Los Angeles. If I had not automatically qualified I would have been in the South Beach Miami region.

“The rapper that loses is the rapper that loses his cool.”

Yartzi

KH: What does your pregame routine look like? The day or maybe the week before? How are you guys preparing? And what might you be doing to help yourself be in the optimal shape for this performance?

Yartzi: I try to get as relaxed as I can and try to get good sleep. Try not to eat anything that’s heavy. Those are things that cut you off. Mentally, if you’re sleepy, if you haven’t eaten, those are things that can take your focus out. Also, don’t over-practice because that can affect your voice.

Yartzi makes his presence felt, carries himself with confidence, and exudes poise in the battle arena.

More than just a Spanish battle rapper, he is certainly a seasoned veteran, he is primed to make another valiant effort in this competition. Will he stay atop the elite or will a newcomer come crashing his party?

Earica Parrish: It’s all about making sure I’m aligned with the goals and objectives and understanding the intent.

KH: What are some best strategies or best practices for creativity?

EP: Learn both the analytical and creative side of everything. Understand how each platform is performing and what types of content resonates with your target audience.

Be mindful of the content you are producing and be adaptable to the algorithm. Also, maintain a healthy balance between organic content and staying on-trend. That way, you can optimize the best results out of your content.

Content management in a nutshell: polish, package and repurpose with intent

KH: What are some X factor approaches? What has been your favorite campaign thus far?

EP: It really just starts with learning what makes you stand out. What’s going to differentiate you is your experience, passions, values, and the way you present your products and services to the market. So it’s the analytical side, the creative, and the human element.

“Whatever industry that you’re in, it is very important to be knowledgeable and adaptable..”

– Earica R. Parrish, Content Project Manager at NVE Experience Agency

One of my favorite projects is my most recent one with the NBA. I am a Content Project Manager and we brought in creators from all types of industries as the intent behind the campaign was to bring in people who will usher in a new audience for the NBA.

We had two weeks of programming and brought in over 14 creators to create the ultimate NBA House experience in LA.

Making the sacrifice to live a compassionate life

KH: How have you abandoned traditional perspective approaches?

EP: My career trajectory is not traditional by any means. Your path is your path. You cannot let outside influences dictate how you’re supposed to move about your own space.

Most of my employment experiences have been strictly black businesses. It’s just owning your journey, not being ashamed of where you started from, and taking control.

“Your path is your path…”

Earica R. Parrish, Content Project Manager at NVE Experience Agency
KH: Any advice for creatives and what we can look forward to from you next?

EP: Before you seek anything external, find what you’re truly passionate about. We have to maneuver away from the status quo. You have to look inward and find what’s true to you.

“You are unique and you have everything that you need.”

– Earica R. Parrish, Content Project Manager at NVE Experience Agency

I just want to impart on all creatives, stay consistent and persistent. Do not let outsiders tell you what to do or make you feel crazy for breaking away from the traditional standards.

Research Driven Questions

KH: What does your brainstorm lab look like for the Made in America lineup? What are some determining factors and redeeming qualities you seek in an artist?

Jana Fleishman: The festival lineup is curated by its founder, JAY-Z, with a lineup of artists that are innovative and poised for greatness.

KH: Are there any interactive stations or cooling zones at this year’s Made in America festival?

Jana Fleishman: We’re still in the process of building out all of the details of this year’s festival, but we have had cooling zones in years past. What we’re extremely excited about is bringing back live music and all of the art and entertainment for people to explore while on the festival grounds.

KH: What was the original blueprint for Made in America and how has that translated to today? What has stayed the same and what has changed?

Jana Fleishman: From the beginning, Made In America has prided itself on being more than just a music festival, but rather a weekend-long bridge between music, community, and culture. There are performances from artists that are a true reflection of the music community.

At its core, the festival impacts social change.

– Jana Fleishman, , EVP Strategy and Communications Roc Nation

Over the years, Cause Village has become the very heartbeat of the festival, strategically placed so that every attendee has a chance to walk past the highly curated bungalows housing each organization.

Cause Village represents organizations that are both national and local to the Philadelphia area.

“We’re constantly thinking of ways to evolve and look forward to seeing attendees enjoy the experiences at this year’s festival.”

– Jana Fleishman, , EVP Strategy and Communications Roc Nation

KH: What types of advocacy might CAUSE village, REFORM alliance and ACLU bring to this year’s festival?

Jana Fleishman: Each year, we try to bring awareness to a vast range of causes by highlighting nearly 30 charitable and activist organizations with the hope to inspire each person that attends.

Between our charitable partners like REFORM Alliance and ACLU, and our philanthropic hub, Cause Village, we are tremendously proud to have an annual average of 15,000 social actions taken over the two days.
