Who is Juice Wrld? The Chicago rapper mixing genres to make a new sound

Juice Wrld is a 19-year-old rapper from Chicago that has recently come onto the scene with his album Goodbye & Good Riddance. He has been making waves with his alternative sound which is a mix of alternative rock and modern hip-hop and people are fucking with it.

The Chicago rapper has put out a lot of music over the years but his most project Goodbye & Good Riddance has turned a lot of heads and is quickly gaining traction. The album details a terrible break up that he went through and the mix of rage, sadness that he felt in that moment and he captures it perfectly throughout the songs in his album.

He talks about the variety of relationships that he has been in and how those women have hurt him so deeply that the only way he can deal with the pain is numb himself with a various assortment of drugs.

Even though he was using a lot of drugs back then he doesn’t condone heavy drug use now. He believes that there is a fine line between doing drugs and letting them influence your creative process and having drugs take over your life and consume you.

“I know people that were very hard working that started smoking weed and now all they do is chill on their couch and any money they get just goes to that. So it’s important to find a balance.”

The Chicago rapper has tried a variety of drugs and he admits they influence his creative process but also real-life experiences that he has been through which heavily factor into his music.

In his song “All Girls Are The Same,” he talks about how all the girls he meets are literally copies of each other and there is nothing that sets him apart puts all of his hurt on display and how he doesn’t like feeling vulnerable on the song.

The inspiration was sparked from some bad relationships that the 19-year-old rapper was going through at the time.

“I’m not the type to vent to people so I use music as an outlet to speak to people.”

Juice Wrld has been listening to music at a young age and started rapping with his neighbors for fun but he never really took it seriously until after high school.

The Chicago native originally started listening to rock music with bands like Paramore, Avenged Sevenfold, ad Black Sabbath but also listened to other artists like Skrillex and Kanye West. He was heavily influenced by Kanye’s albums The College Dropout and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Juice Wrld began to take music seriously after high school when he fell into depression about his uncertain future due to his bad grades and other things.

It was during this time that the owner of the studio Envision Entertainment in country club hills saw potential in the young Chicago rapper and decided to help. He ended up becoming his engineer and the rest was history.

Juice Wrld is definitely making a huge wave in music and may be opening the door to a sub-genre within hip-hop that has yet to created yet. Sky’s the limit for what he can achieve and he’s just getting started. We can’t wait to see what is next for him.

YesJulz talks making moves, never not working, and her new Puma collab

You won’t find many people on your social feed working harder than YesJulz. She created an entire career and brand based on her work ethic alone.

From throwing some of the biggest bangers over the years, to breaking artists into the game, Julz is always making moves and pushing the culture forward.

She’s about that action too, encouraging people to network and collaborate with each other and truly helping to bring the creative power back to the artists with her company 1AM Entertainment. Her #NeverNotWorking movement that she started promotes the type of mentality you need to have in order to be successful.

1AM Entertainment

I had the chance to chop it up with Julz recently and she spoke about her work ethic, her recent dive into the music industry and her new collab that just dropped with Puma. She first explained how she came up with her #NeverNotWorking slogan saying,

“Every time I told someone I was from Miami, they automatically assumed that I was lazy and partied a lot. It had a very negative connotation. When in reality, I was very hardworking.”

Discouraged by this stereotype, she ended up taking time off for a bit and traveling to Europe for a stint. She also went to Egypt where she got into a little trouble with the law but made it out. It was there that she promised to change her life when she returned back to Miami.

“It was not the city that sucked, its the culture around it so I decided to commit to shifting the culture online and in-person from being materialistic to let’s work with each other instead of against each other.”

This was all the motivation she needed as she paved her own lane and created a career out of her passion. Although she was raised in Boston, Julz ended up moving back to Miami where she began hosting parties that started to gain serious traction.

More importantly, she saw how linking with like-minded people to work could benefit both sides and that’s what eventually helped her to expand her brand — networking.

Over the years, she’s gained the reputation as the go-to party promoter of the culture. This naturally opened other doors for her over time as her connections within the music industry helped artists break into the game. She began managing artists she believed in and over time, saw that with her help, their talent could be recognized.

One of those artists she started working with early on was 070 Shake, who was just featured all over Kanye’s last project, ye. Julz saw the potential in her artistry so she took her under her wing until she was able to fly on her own. Julz said,

“It’s all about networking and building real relationships with people, don’t use people as stepping stones.”

In addition to managing other acts, Julz also launched 1AM Radio to give those artists a place to put their music out and possibly get noticed by someone in the music industry.

She was also behind Kanye’s album release party in Wyoming which was a huge success. When she met Ye, she realized something. She told me,

“Meeting people like Ye confirmed that I wasn’t crazy for having so much passion for what I do. I don’t play with my art and neither does Kanye.”

She had never worked on a project of that size and she also had to do it with a new team, but she pulled it off and made that album release a legendary moment to remember.

YesJulz also spoke about her latest collaboration with Puma which will feature both apparel and footwear, dropping today. The whole collab came about when she was out at a party recruiting people to come help feed the homeless the next day.

It was there that she met Emory Jones who was also passionate about community service. Emory ended up coming to her event the next day and they clicked. She found out that he was Jay-Z’s close friend who had worked with him on Roc Apparel.

Later on, Emory Jones linked her with Puma and she pitched a clothing line and a shoe, Puma agreed. When asked about the process of making a clothing line and a shoe, Yesjulz said,

“I showed my friends an early version of the shoe and they didn’t like it. They thought the colors shouldn’t be that bright. That made me push back the release but eventually, I realized I can’t please everyone and I should do what feels right.”

A post shared by ‘Yes Julz’ Goddard (@yesjulz) on

She pushed through with her own ideas and people loved it. She will also be doing a tour with Puma. When asked if she thinks she is opening a door for big brands and influencers to collaborate on clothing lines together she said,

“100% I think I am opening a lot of doors for a lot of things. I especially want to open doors for women to collaborate with brands despite their image. Women have been forced to look a certain way in order to be heard. While men can have any image they want and still be listened to. I don’t want women to be placed into one box, women can be and do so many different things, smart, sexy, funny,  being a mother etc.”

Julz puts her everything into whatever she is doing and it shows through the work she has done over years. She isn’t letting that slow her down either as milestones like the Puma collab only motivate her to keep going and work harder.

YesJulz is constantly evolving as she progresses in her career. As a person aspiring to do great things, there are always setbacks. When asked how she gets through any challenges she faces, she had some solid advice that everyone out there could use saying,

“I get up, get active and I keep busy. I try to make the best of things in that current moment. Whenever I get lazy or unmotivated I always watch this Will Smith video where he is talking about 2 guys on a treadmill and how he is going to be the guy that doesn’t give up no matter the circumstances. You aren’t going to be the best. There is always going to be someone better than you but no can beat you if you are putting every fiber of your being into what you do.”

Make sure you cop her collection with Puma and see her on the PUMA NRG Tour.

What is Jelly Fam? The movement bringing NYC basketball back to the top

Jelly Fam is the resurrection of New York City basketball itself.

In an age where the best high school players in the tri-state area have to leave to play against top competition elsewhere, just to get recruited to the next level, the Jelly Fam movement is keeping NYC’s top talent home.

You might’ve seen the hashtag on IG and some of the most impressive high school ball highlights on Overtime every time you check your feed, but what does it mean?

https://giphy.com/gifs/TgJ5zC5zpCE4HlBMRr

The movement was started by two local basketball stars, Isaiah Washington and Ja’Quaye James. Both of them are dumb nice, highly respected ball players within the tri-state area and both were born and raised in Harlem

From their local leagues to the competitions at the biggest parks, they’ve made a reputation for bringing finesse and good marketing back to the game.

Isaiah first came up with the idea to use the move because he was inspired by Michael Jordan’s famous free throw line dunk, and all of his double-clutch layups.

Isaiah wasn’t really able to dunk at the time either so emulating Jordan with his own move that he called a Jelly was the wave. Ja’Quaye and Isaiah were homies and came up with idea together and the Jelly Fam movement was born.

From there they started to indoctrinate the best players in New York City area into the basketball sensation that is Jelly Fam.

Ja’Quaye James a well known high school basketball player from Harlem and the CEO of Jelly Fam. He is a 5’9 high school basketball player currently in his senior season at Teaneck High School in New Jersey. He makes scoring look easy on the court.

A post shared by Ja’Quaye.James (@jf_g3) on

He also has a vision for Jelly Fam as a whole. He sees it becoming a worldwide movement once everyone is adults and are able to move they way they want to move.

Isaiah Washington is the face of the Jelly Fam movement, he currently plays at the University of Minnesota but he was embarrassing people on the court since high school.

He has crazy highlights at Rucker Park, Under Armour Association, and other basketball courts. Isaiah plays basketball like he has a ball on a string.

When he is playing against his opponents it just looks so unfair as he blows by his them with complete ease and to make it even more entertaining he will probably Jelly to top it off. He’s claimed many ankles in his high school career. His style of play is calm, controlled and he always knows how to finish around rim with finesse.

Isaiah and Jelly Fam have received cosigns from stars like Melo, Dave East, Cam’Ron, and Juelz Santana, who is Ja’Quaye James’ uncle. What they see in them is very similar to the movement he and Dipset created during the 2000s.

Cam’Ron has commended the young basketball players for starting their own movement and even knows that they had a hand in it saying,

“Jah was around all that he seen the guerilla marketing. This is incredible for these kids to come together and create a basketball movement that has great marketing. This is something we have never seen they are paving the way for basketball crews.”

Twitter

Jahquay being around his uncle’s rise to fame has definitely benefitted him positively when in comes to marketing for Jelly Fam as a brand. This system has helped Jelly Fam dominate social media platforms from Twitter, to Instagram and of course YouTube.

Despite all the clout that the Jelly Fam movement has garnered Isaiah manages to stay level headed amongst the chaos on and off the court and is focused on getting into the NBA and making Jelly Fam a Worldwide movement.

Jelly Fam has since expanded far beyond just Isiah and Ja’Quay they have recruited a very diverse group of players into the Jelly Fam arsenal.  They have recruited Sid Wilson, Jahvon Quinerly, Jordan Walker, Leondre Washington, Nazreon Reid, just to name a few.

Sid Wilson is one of the newer members of Jelly Fam.

He is a 6’7 and absolute monster on the defensive side as well as the offensive.

He is a forced to be reckoned with on court, once you see the highlights it makes sense why Jelly Fam sought him out to join their squad.

Jahvon Quinerly is a 6’0 PG and he absolute monster inside the paint.

He has crazy handles that put defenders on skates and he is able to finish in the paint.

Jordan Walker is another athlete who has a killer instinct for basketball.

He suffocates players that he is defending giving them little room to breathe let alone dribble a basketball. He approaches the game of basketball with a killer’s mentality.

Leondre Washington is another 6’0 PG who is well known in Jersey.

Leondre is not afraid at all to take it to rim against people that are way bigger than him. He also has the a great shooting ability from mid range as well as the 3 point line.

He is very passionate when he plays basketball and he a play to win mentality that has clearly payed off.

Nazreon Reid is an absolute monster on the court.

Nazreon has the ability to dominate the court offensively as well as defensively.

He has the ability to finish in the post either with a lay up or a monstrous dunk and has also shown that has a great vision on the court making crazy passes to his teammates in order the get the bucket.

Jelly Fam is definitely a force to be reckoned with on and off the court. Recruiting some of the top talent into the brotherhood has kept some of the tri-state’s best talent home and bringing more focus into the game than ever.

With other forces like the Big Baller Brand in full effect, the landscape of how kids like them can connect with their audience has completely changed. They’re on to something.

The force of their movement has the possibility to grow into a brand well beyond just basketball. Jelly Fam is a lifestyle.

Who is YoungBoy Never Broke Again? The Louisiana rapper who refuses to back down

YoungBoy Never Broke Again, who’s also known as NBA YoungBoy, is one the most poppin’ rappers in this new generation of hip-hop today.

At just 18-years-old, he’s been solidifying his spot in the game for the past couple years dropping project after project, although most people may know him from memes or his baby mama problems.

Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he was raised by his grandmother and spent a lot of time in the streets. At the time of his birth, his dad was sentenced to 55 years in prison.

Growing up in his neighborhood was tough and he did not grow up having a lot of possessions. He ended up getting involved in the street life early to try and maintain a certain lifestyle that a lot of rappers portray still to this day.

During high school, his passion for music began to show to the point where he dropped out of 9th grade just to pursue music and also hustle on the side.

In an interview with The Fader, he said,

“ I hate school, I really don’t think its important. I got money without school. You go to school to become somebody and get a job and get some decent money, I got it without it.”

Despite having a very common dislike for school he still got his high school diploma to say that he has it and also to be a good example to his little brother.

Despite trying to set a good example for his brother this do or die attitude to pursue this lavish lifestyle got him in trouble with the police and he was arrested on robbery charges and was sent to a detention center in Tallulah, Louisiana.

A post shared by 38BABY | DON DADA (@nba_youngboy) on

While in the detention center he began writing songs for his upcoming projects he was planning to release. When he was released from the detention center his mother passed away due to heart failure.

He had to move in with fellow Louisiana rapper 3Three. They worked together to scrounge up whatever cash they had to pay for studio time.

NBA Youngboy started making music at the young age of 14 using a microphone that he bought at Walmart. He released his first mixtapes Like Before Fame, in 2014. A bunch of mixtapes followed Mind of a Menace, Mind of a Menace 2 and Mind of a Menace 3.

But his mixtape 38 Baby was what really put him on the map the project featured Lil Snupe, Boosie Badazz, and Kevin Gates. What also uplifted the project was an ongoing beef between NBA YoungBoy and another Baton Rouge rapper Scotty Cain.

In 2016, NBA YoungBoy was arrested in Austin, Texas for a first-degree murder charge in connection with a drive-by shooting and he was taken to East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana.

While in prison he kept his momentum going by releasing music. A couple songs that hit included “Win or Lose,” “Don’t Matter,” and “Too Much.” The Louisiana rapper was eventually released from prison in May 2017 after taking a plea deal and posting bail.

A week after leaving prison, the Louisiana rapper released the single, “Untouchable.” The song was a smash hit garnering over 132 million views on YouTube.

The song details of NBA YoungBoy struggles that he had to go through just to get where he is now and how he never changed on the people that were really there for him.

The song peaked at 95 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. On August 3, 2017, he released his mixtape, AI YoungBoy which charted at 24 on the Billboard 200. The second single from AI YoungBoy, “No Smoke” peaked at number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100.

A post shared by 38BABY | DON DADA (@nba_youngboy) on

“No Smoke” talks about how none of the rappers are really who they say they are and they don’t want beef with NBA Youngboy because he is really about that action and that life.

YoungBoy announced his debut studio album, Until Death Call My Name in January 2018 and was released later in April. He released the single “Outside Today” on January 6, 2018. The song became his highest charting song, peaking at number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In the track, he raps about not wanting to go out anymore due to the media falling him everywhere because of his status as a rapper. He can no longer have a normal life because of his fame that his accrued and it annoys him.

NBA YoungBoy’s music discusses the struggles of living in the hood and seeing people that you grew up die around you and how there is nothing there to help you cope besides drugs and alcohol.

He describes entering a state of no feeling in order to cope with the pain that he has experienced in his life, along with self-medicating with other substances.

Despite all the tragedies that he born into and had to experience he rose above it all and triumphed and is now able to provide for his family and his kids.

For only being 18-years-old, YoungBoy has accomplished a lot and we can’t wait to see what projects he comes out with next.

Who is YBN Cordae? The rapper bridging ‘old heads’ with the new generation

YBN Cordae is a rapper who’s been making a name for himself and is of course part of the YBN music group which features YBN Nahmir and YBN Almighty Jay.

He recently came onto to the scene in 2018 and really started getting attention when he dropped “Old N*ggas,” a remixed response J. Cole’s “1985” track calling out the new generation of rappers.

Now with videos dropping on Worldstar regularly, he’s racking up millions of views light and proving that he’s much more than just a side member of YBN. He does it differently too — speaking the truth and showing respect to the old heads all while still being a part of this new generation of hip-hop.

Hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina but moved to Maryland when he was 10. Despite being from Raliegh, he claims the whole DMV area as a place that helped shape him and help him grow into the person and artist he is today.

Learn from the greats, become a great 🤝 #betawards2018

A post shared by Cordae’ (@ybncordae) on

His father was a big fan of Big L Nas, Biggie and it shows in his rapping style which completely contradicts new artists today and pays homage to rap in the 90s.

He met YBN Nahmir through the internet on XBox and the group stayed in touch over the years and kept on rapping. After a couple years YBN Nahmir released a song called “Rubbin Off Paint” that literally blew up overnight which led him to get signed.

The DMV rapper noticed this and congratulated his friend and kept it at that he even said in an interview with Adam 22 from No Jumper,

“I was happy for him and I wasn’t going to hit him up for favors because when you  blow up that’s what happens so I kept my distance but he hit me up one day and told me I should come to LA.”

Originally working at Fridays trying to support himself while in college, Cordae hated his job and told Adam22 of No Jumper, “I knew I was meant to do something bigger.”

The rapper has always set high goals for himself that he plans to achieve and he knew that the time would come when he would need to pursue his dreams. That hope came when his remix of Eminem’s “My Name Is” blew up overnight.

Keeping his lyrics clear and concise he tells the audience through his bars that he is different from other rappers calling them average.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07tFOl-9Av4

His flow is a mix of old and new and YBN Cordae has definitely showcased that he can actually spit bars in his songs as well as killing freestyles when he steps into radio stations for interviews.

YBN Cordae doesn’t just mix the old school with the new — he serves as a bridge to connect OGs with young rappers of this generation.

And unlike many of the rappers today, he doesn’t like to wear big expensive chains. He said in the interview No Jumper interview,

“I’m gonna be saving so much money by not buying designer clothes and jewelry. Once your wear those Gucci sneakers you’re going to have to keep going because once you start it is never enough for people”.

All that Glitters ✨ @einerbankz 🎻

A post shared by Cordae’ (@ybncordae) on

Cordae is trying stack up as much bread as possible through his rap career and he is not going to let other people opinions pressure him into buying shit he doesn’t need. He already stands out above the crowd of rappers by making this choice.

Hopefully, he will influence a new generation to stray away from the era of rappers flexing their cash, by buying chains, expensive clothes, cars and create a new wave of artists that see things differently.

The evolution of YG: How the LA rapper is low key taking over fashion

YG is as real as artists come in the game today and if you thought that music was all that he’s capable of, you’re wrong. We already saw him make a hood classic with Blame it on the Streets, but most of you don’t even know he’s been killing it in the fashion game too.

YG has developed a very brazy and unique sense of style over the years and regularly posts his fits to the gram. He has always been into fashion, so it should come to no surprise that his 4hunnid clothing brand is coming to the forefront with the music.

Earlier in his career, you could catch YG keeping it simple wearing Chuck Taylors with shorts, a sweatshirt, and maybe a snapback.

As he began to dive deeper into the fashion world his style began to change he started to wear more skinny jeans and hard bottom dress shoes to emulate the style of OG’s from the 70’s and the 80’s in LA who used to wear it.

EXTRA LARGE.

A post shared by STAY DANGEROUS (@yg) on

You can no doubt see the West Coast inspiration in every fit that YG pulls off and he’s not scared to take chances, either. Despite receiving backlash from people on social media he stills rocks whatever style he likes because he is proud of it.

He also does not want to look like everyone else when he picking an outfit he wants to be 100% original and not look like a mannequin at a clothing store.

YG is serious about paving his own lane within the fashion industry too, even hosting his first fashion show for 4hunnid and selling out pop-ups as drops coincided with the release of his latest album Stay Dangerous.

The clothes take a lot of inspiration from the streets and pay homage to gang culture in LA especially Compton where YG is from. At the end of the day, this is a collection that anyone can rock if they have the sauce.

“KUT & SEW” backstage at the fashion show

A post shared by Members Only (@4hunnid) on

4hunnid stands for “Forever One Hundred,” which means staying true to yourself at all times and YG definitely practices what he preaches by breaking barriers in music, movies, and fashion.

At this point in YG’s career, focusing on clothing along with the music makes perfect sense as he continues to grow his brand way further than anyone would’ve ever thought when he first dropped “Toot It and Boot It.” Now, according to YG, you’ll be able to cop his “KUT & SEW” collection at Barneys New York this fall.

YG’s inspiration for launching 4hunnid came from none other than how Jay-Z and Dame Dash had started Rocawear and were able to make it elevate their brand.

In a 2017 interview with Complex, YG said, “It’s not merch, it’s a lifestyle.” That’s exactly how he’s looking at growing his brand and he has aspirations that go way beyond just retail. We’ll just have to stay posted and see what he does next.

What is Death Stranding? The wild ass game everybody’s talking about

Legendary video game creator Hideo Kojima is (allegedly) making his last game ever and he’s making sure that it’s a masterpiece that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.

Kojima is, of course, responsible for creating the entire Metal Gear Solid series that has had such a monumental impact on gaming culture.

But before he became one of the most respected people in all of gaming, Kojima wasn’t even trying to be a game developer. He had a lot more interest in being an artist, an illustrator, or a filmmaker. Eventually, as fate would have it, video games became the place he was able to express his vision and stories.

#hideokojima #normanreedus #hideokojimagame #playstation #deathstranding #sam #e3

A post shared by Hideo Kojima (@hideo_kojima) on

As a young kid, his parents forced him to watch a variety of movies which have heavily influenced the games that he has created. Kojima seeks to make scenes in his game cinematic in nature as if you are watching a movie. He also stated that he would like to take different approaches to storytelling,

“Storytelling is very difficult. But adding the flavor helps to relay the storytelling, meaning in a cutscene, with a set camera and effects, you can make the users feel sorrow, or make them happy or laugh. This is an easy approach, which we have been doing. If I make multiple storylines and allow the users to select which story, this might really sacrifice the deep emotion the user might feel; when there is a concrete storyline and you kind of go along that rail, you feel the destiny of the story, which at the end, makes you feel more moved. But when you make it interactive — if you want multiple stories where you go one way or another — will that make the player more moved when he or she finishes the game? These two points are really the key which I am thinking about, and if this works, I think I could probably introduce a more interactive storytelling method.”

Kojima feels conflicted between the two different styles that he has been trying to use. By adding different endings the player will be more intrigued and careful when key decisions need to be made and will play through all the possible endings to find out all the possible outcomes instead of there being only one end. It looks like he is going to find a weird amalgamation between the two styles.

The Japanese filmmaker is a very well known name in the gaming industry so whenever his name is attached to a new title, it’s bound to be a banger. His latest game, Death Stranding, has everyone is talking since it debuted at E3 2018.

Death Stranding is a game that has been attracting a lot of attention because of its insanely realistic graphics and the crazy in-game scenes that will leave you scared, creeped out, but also very intrigued.

The game also looks insanely realistic and is shot very cinematically. Death Stranding uses the Decima engine which completely sets the game apart from any of its competitors at E3 just based on graphics alone.

The game also features The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus as the main character, Sam, who has to deliver a package, which is possibly a baby in a jar, but there’s still not enough information to confirm this.

There’s a lot of speculation and theories being formed on Reddit as to what the plot of the game is but nothing concrete has been released by Hideo Kojima himself. Sam is not the typical video game hero that is usually a military specialist or a person with supernatural abilities instead he is a regular human being.

The game also has some interesting mechanics for example how it deals with death. In most games, if your character runs out of health they automatically die and the game resets back to where you last saved.

Instead of restarting, you pass into a realm where you are neither dead nor alive and when you make it back to the land of the living whatever happened when you died is still there. Everything you do in this game affects the journey you take.

You also can travel outside of the main character’s body as well and when you die in the game you keep all your items, unlike other games. Real brazy stuff.

As of right now, Death Stranding has no release date but it is still building up hype regardless as new clips of gameplay and trailers of being released every day.

The game looks like a mix of sci-fi, horror, and adventure and we can’t wait for the game to release.

Who is Ella Mai? The British songstress bringing her sound to America

Ella Mai is a 23-year-old British artist that has recently exploded onto the scene with her hit song “Boo’d Up.” It’s a raw R&B track that talks about the joys of being with a significant other and the beautiful feeling of just being in love.

The song has gotten so much support from fans and big-name artists like Chris Brown, Plies, and Fabolous who’ve been seen on social media vibing to the song and even stating that they wanted to do a remix of the record.

Ella has been taken aback by the sudden popularity of her song “Boo’d Up” and even said in an interview with Nessa From Hot 97,

“I knew the song would resonate with girls but I didn’t think guys would love the song as much as they do”.

The song popular amongst all ages and that is what has propelled it all the way to the top of the charts. Listen to it below and you’ll see why.

Ella hails from South London but currently lives in Los Angeles. After attending high school in New York then she went back to London and found herself on the West Coast where she’s now pursuing her music career full time.

She has always been a performer and she went to music school from the age of 17 to 21. According to her, she has always been around music her whole life having been raised in the church and her grandma is also a minister.

Ella was influenced by a lot of 90s R&B artists like Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder, Keyshia Cole, Chris Brown, India Arie, Monica, Brandy, Destiny’s Child and Mint Condition and wants to collab but she also wants to work with rappers including her favorite emcee at the moment, J Cole.

The 23-year-old considers herself to be a storyteller through her music, not everything that she talks about in her songs has been experienced personally, she gets inspired by other people around her and their experiences and then she will write the song about that experience from that person’s perspective.

The R&B singer originally started out doing 15-second Instagram covers of popular songs and slowly began to gain a fanbase until she was found by DJ Mustard, and he reached out to her.

Mustard happened to be performing at Made in America and Ella Mai was in NYC at the time so he drove to her just to work with her and see the process that she goes through to create her music.

The session went extremely well and Ella Mai ended up signing to his label, 10 Summers, and she has put out two EPs so far and she is working on her album which will be solely R&B focused.

One of her singles “Naked” is all about self-love and making sure you love yourself before anyone else but also knowing how to except when someone else is loving you.

The British songstress sings about how she hopes to find some that will love her unconditionally despite all her flaws.

Ella Mai’s songs are real and pure R&B that we have been music that is completely dominated by rap nowadays. She has so many amazing songs already at the beginning of her career, we can’t wait to see what project she puts out next.

A little TOO REAL: 6 games with the dopest graphics at E3 2018

E3 2018 is ramping up and that means new game releases to get hyped about, and most importantly, we get to see the graphics of games being released soon.

It’s safe to say that our eyes will be glued to the screen as we are playing these immersive games, that will have you wanting to binge playing during all your free time this summer.

This year we’re looking at some of the most visually stunning games to have ever been created so far. With the updated release of consoles like the Xbox One X, characters are literally coming to life. Here are some games that we think you should be looking out for as E3 goes on.

Fallout 76

Bethesda Game Studios, the creators of Skyrim and Fallout 4, is coming back with Fallout 76. The game takes place in 2102, the Reclamation day which was 25 years after the bombs fell that leave the player in the post-apocalyptic world that is no longer recognizable.

You can either team up with other players to conquer the landscape or go solo — the choice is yours. Another thing that sets this game apart is the ability to build anywhere on the map and be able to take it with you using the Construction and Assembly Mobile Platform or C.A.M.P for short.

You play as a soldier that is placed into a bunker and tasked with rebuilding society, and not only the buildings but restoring people hope in the world once more after such a cataclysmic event.

The game has amazing graphics to top it off which make the gameplay look very real and fluid. It is definitely a title you should go cop.

The Division 2

The Division 2 continues where The Division left off except the graphics have drastically improved compared to the first game. The game takes place in Washington D.C., one of the safest places in America — or so they thought.

After an unknown virus wreaks havoc upon the city, D.C. is left in ruins and total anarchy ensues as regular everyday citizens are forced to arm and defend themselves. Urban Warfare consumes the every city street in this epic shooter.

However, there is still hope. Agents of the Division are fighting against enemies that seek to control and take advantage of America while it is at its weakest. As a player, it is your job to prevent these enemies from taking over.

The game has a wide area of weapons that you can pick and choose from and you can switch weapons on the fly making it easier to deal with different enemies.

The insane graphics make the gameplay even more immersive, from bullets whizzing by your character, to the massive explosions that constantly happen.

There is also a multiplayer aspect that allows you to either play solo or play with a group of friends. The game is definitely breathtaking and worth playing.

Jump Force

Bandai Namco is back on the scene with Jump Force, a shonen jump themed fighter that brings together fighters from different animes.

Jump Force is a game that many anime fans have been asking for with all your favorite anime characters in one huge fighting game.

Arguments that anime fans that have had for years over which anime character is the strongest can finally be settled on the sticks.

The game has amazing graphics and the combat is surprisingly fluid as each character has been created with impeccable detail.

Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 is a game that really blurs the line between reality and gaming. From the graphics to the character design and the beautiful environment that the game takes place in, the game looks ultra realistic.

DL2 takes place in a struggling city that is being plagued by all types of zombies and night creatures. You must battle to acquire basic resources like food and water while there are also combatting factions that try to assert their influence and everything.

It is up to the player which faction that they want to align with and through those decisions that they decide to make they change the way the city operates entirely.

Death Stranding

Death Stranding is a game that has such realistic graphics you will be shocked. The visual effects that they used in this title are just breathtaking to say the least and help immerse you into the game as you progress through it.

This is an action game that is set in an open world that has multiplayer as well. You play as Sam who ends up dying and is sent to some type of alternate dimension or upside down world and has to return to the world of the living.

Real crazy shit.

Crackdown 3

The Crackdown series is still going strong with the over the top graphics and crazy gameplay that gets better the more you level up the skills of your character.

You play as a soldier whose job is to take out dangerous criminal organizations throughout the city except you are no regular soldier. As you progress in the game you can upgrade attributes like strength to the point where you can leap up on to buildings in literally one jump and be able to pick up huge vehicles with complete ease.

Crackdown 3 has added some new elements to by adding vehicles like a car that can travel up walls as well as a tank that has a large amount of destructive power.

This game looks absolutely amazing and with its new graphics will definitely have entertaining gameplay that will keep you hooked all summer long.

Who is YK Osiris? The Florida singer breaking in the new era of R&B

When you think of artists coming out of Florida, most people normally think of hip-hop. YK Osiris is an R&B singer from Jacksonville who’s slowly changing that and making a name for himself in the process. Not to mention, he’s only 18-years-old.

He is completely turning the music game on its head with his unique R&B vibes, mixing up old school with the new, at a time where rap is the most popular genre.

His name Osiris originates from a Greek god meaning powerful, smart, intelligent, strength and knowledge. With one brother and six sisters, you already know he wants to put on for his family.

The Jacksonville rapper always had a deep love for music when he young and started taking it seriously when he realized he had a special talent.

His inspirations growing up include Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars and The Temptations, which you can all hear a little bit of every time he steps into the studio.

His melodic singing over R&B tracks has been getting him a lot of attention from record labels and artists alike.

A lot of hot artists have been coming out of Florida lately, like XXXTentatcion and Kodak Black, but YK Osiris sets himself apart with his true singing talent talking heartbreak and love, completely setting himself apart from the new rappers in Florida.

YK wants to be as versatile as possible and doesn’t want to be classified as a rapper or a singer just yet as he wants to keep his options open.

Coming from the city of Jacksonville, YK admits that it isn’t always easy to get the love and support from his own hometown people. The R&B artist states that,

“I don’t feel safe in Jacksonville, I am target but I am going to be moving to LA soon though”.

Despite being an easy target due to his newfound fame and success, he’s stayed focused on his music grind and it’s been paying off.

His hit song “Valentine,” which has gotten over one million views on YouTube, is about him falling in love very quickly and unfortunately, he got his heart broken by the girl he was seeing at the time.

After the split, he was in the studio at the time and a producer that he was working with sent him a beat and he was feeling it so he just wrote the song right then and there and put it out.

He spoke to Genius about the real-life situation and how he flipped it immediately into a hit track.

Not long after, labels were itching to sign him and the Jacksonville artist ended up signing to Def Jam. Lil Uzi even hit him up for the remix.

YK Osiris is now completely focused on music and working on his album but he is taking his time because he’s a true artist who really cares about his craft. This man stays in the studio and his hard work is paying off!

It’s safe to say that he has his work cut out for him but he knows where he wants to go and we can’t wait to see what he does next.
