How a 17-year-old entrepreneur and her mother created Honestly Margo

Have you ever met Margo? 17-year-old Margo Gianos, the founder of bath and beauty brand Honestly Margo, has a pretty dope story to tell.

It all started five years ago when she was playing around in the kitchen and decided to make her own homemade lip balm using a blend of natural ingredients. She brought those to school as all of her friends and classmates couldn’t get enough of it.

Fast forward a few years later and Margo began running her own business selling bath and beauty products, just like the one she cooked up in her kitchen that day, but success didn’t just happen overnight.

Yes, she is CEO of her own company and has worked together with her mother throughout the entire process. With products that everyone loves, they both work hand in hand with business development and marketing. Over time, Margo and her mother learned about the business firsthand and today have a brand that is booming.

Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Margo is still a regular girl who enjoys hanging out with friends, exercising, and watching the University of Oklahoma football games. She is currently a high school senior and plans to continue her education after high school as well as continue to build Honestly Margo.

The Honestly Margo brand’s mission is “about making fun products that inspire a new generation.” They believe in fresh and natural products as well as the power women have. In an interview with Margo, she told me,

“I created Honestly Margo Bath and Beauty because I love bath and beauty products, and I wanted to create fun, fresh and unique beauty products for millennials.”

Giving us a little throwback Honestly Margo created a line of cool and fun roller girl lip-glosses that were inspired from the original roller ball lip glosses from the late 70s, early 80s. Margo explained,

“These are formulated in a fresh way that isn’t sticky or tacky and leaves your lips moisturized.”

I definitely remember those roller ball growing up. I thought I was poppin with a cherry flavored lip-gloss. It’s nice to see them back in a different and fun new way.

Honestly Margo also sells a fun Unicorn-themed line that is super cute with products like bath dust, hand and body scrub, and lotion. The products are all pink and fun to look at with unicorns all over — it’s sure to bring the child out of any adult.

If that wasn’t cool enough imagine having a different solution for congestion, headaches, or being stressed — Margo created a soothing balm called Serenity Vapor.

You just rub the balm across your forehead or temples to relieve the tension. The balm is made with menthol, peppermint oil, and eucalyptus. The list of products goes on and they’re pretty cool definitely check them out online.

Margo stated in our interview that her primary goal is “to become a globally recognized beauty brand — one that inspires and motivates women while providing them the highest quality, natural products to help them look and feel their best!”

Honestly Margo products are currently being sold in boutiques, hospital gift shops, pharmacies, online, and over 1000 stores across the country. By making connections at trade shows and sharing their story, Margo has learned how to build her business.

However, it’s the support of her mother Irene that has really helped get her to where she is today. As co-founder of Honestly Margo as well as being a lifestyle expert, women’s empowerment mentor, and the force behind The OP Life, she is at the end of the day her mother first.

J Balvin is putting on for Colombia as one of the biggest artists in the world

If you had two ears in 2017, it’s safe to say you’ve heard the song “Mi Gente” by now.

It’s just one of those records that’s constantly spinning on the radio, climbing the charts daily, and they even have a version with Beyonce (which has over 100 million streams) where daughter Blue Ivy has a line in the song.

And if you haven’t heard it yet then consider checking it out.

I’m also sure you might be wondering exactly who is the man behind this massive song. That would be none other Jose Alvaro Osorio Balvin, aka J Balvin.

He is a reggaeton/Latin pop artist by way of Medellin, Colombia who has gained fame all around the world now ranking number 10 in the Billboards hot 100 and holding a spot on the list for 20 weeks in a row.

You may also recognize him from the remix he made back in 2015 to Justin Bieber’s, “Sorry.”

Now at 32, Balvin left Colombia when he was just 17 and decided to move to the U.S. with his best friend.

As a young child, he was always interested in music and watching the music videos and quickly created his own unique style.

His career started off when he was signed to EMI Colombia in 2009 and released his first single, “Ella Me Cautivó,” coming in at 35 on the U.S. tropical chart. His views on YouTube range from 2 million to 1.3 billion. His song “Ay Vamos” hit #1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin songs chart.

He performed live Nov. 16, 2017 at the 18th annual Latin Grammy Awards with Steve Aoki, Bad Bunny, and French Montana.

J Balvin has also worked with other artists such as Nicky Jam, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, Robin Thicke, and has gone on tour with Pitbull & Enrique Iglesias. In 2017, he won an iHeartRadio music award for Latin Album of the Year.

He was even described by Billboard as, “the greatest discovery of latin music in many years”. He has had many accomplishments and is finally being recognized.

He has toured across the U.S, Italy, Spain, Germany, and many more. He is currently on his “Energia” tour.

J Balvin has been well-known in the Spanish music industry for quite some time now and has stated in the past that he is not interested in being successful and not famous.

But now that he’s being exposed on a global scale, his records are making waves unlike any other contemporary South American artist out there. His people are proud of what he represents and that’s what’s making him so successful.

Balvin wants to make people aware of Latin music and bring his culture and type of music to others who may not listen to his music and collab with different artists. And he has made it pretty clear his crush and dream collaboration would be with Rihanna.

His style over the years has changed drastically. He now is fully tatted, likes to dye his hair all kinds of crazy colors, and is big on name brands and definitely has a unique style to him.

He also has a magnetic personality which is why over 19 million people follow him on the gram.

He recently dyed his hair a highlighter yellow and posted it on Instagram story saying “let the memes begin” and later posted a meme someone made of him.

While he’s making hit after hit, he still likes to joke around and doesn’t take things personal. An an age where many artists let their egos get the best of them, J Balvin is nothing like that.

One thing to admire about him is how humble he seems to be and that he constantly mentions his family and how thankful he is to have them.

He’s already one of my favorite artists to follow as he continues his rise as one of the biggest artists in the world

Who is Tekashi69? The Brooklyn rapper paving his own lane in the game

Update: Tekashi is going to prison for a MINUTE.

How many rappers do you know with rainbow colored hair?

Maybe just some southern rappers but it looks like New York got its own. Meet Daniel Hernandez, aka Tekashi69, New York’s future rapper, born and raised in Brooklyn.

At age 21 he’s been a pretty successful rapper, going on tour recently in Europe. Tekashi69 is trying to be different than most rappers out here. He’s tattooed the number 69 over 200 times all over his body. Oh, and he’s not a SoundCloud rapper either, he simply made music and was published by a Slovakian label, “FCK Them,” who put his music out on YouTube.

Some of these videos even snagged up over 2 million views, with his video for “GUMMO” reaching almost 12 million, Tekashi69 ain’t playing.

This rapper is far from the ordinary.

He claims that name brands don’t matter and you wouldn’t catch him wearing expensive name brands. He spoke in an interview with Adam22 of No Jumper saying,

“Now I got money f*** am I buying that if I couldn’t afford it back then why am I buying it now?”

With a genre that revolves around money, women, and a luxurious lifestyle Tekashi69 is setting a new precedent. It’s refreshing seeing someone who’s isn’t letting money get to their head.

Tekashi69 looks and sounds different, his experiences have shaped how the young artist creates.

Growing up he had a tough childhood and his father was murdered when Tekashi was in 8th grade. That year he would just black out in rage and stopped attending school after getting expelled. He had a few jobs here and there up until he started his rapping.

He doesn’t have a label, company, or anyone he works for. He produces and creates all of his own music and videos. One of his first videos that got him recognized was “69,” which is definitely a graphic video.

He has worked alongside Bodega Bamz, Trippie Redd, Famous Dex, and is part of crew called ScumGang69. His rap has a lot of screaming and strong metal tone to it, you can say it is similar to XXXTENTACION.

His style in rap and the way he dresses and looks definitely are eye catching and will immediately beg more questions as to who Tekashi69 is. He has popped up more than once on my Instagram feed and had me interested in finding out more.

He’s one rapper that seems to keep it real. Tekashi has come out and spoken about his past and how it has brought him to be who he is now. He supports the youth and encourages them to pursue their dreams and goals. He has posted about giving away money and taking one lucky winner on a shopping spree for school supplies.

Tekashi definitely flaunts the fact that he has money now but seems to still be trying to help others who were in his situation growing up.

One video that has being going around Facebook is Tekashi69 at a school speaking to a group of students and providing the school with money for snacks and school trips.

He has made it clear he would much rather spend his money on people who need it, rather than on luxuries.

Back in August of 2017, however there were allegations of him having relations with a minor. Due to such allegations, Trippie Redd decided to cut ties with Tekashi69 claiming he does not support pedophiles.

A snapchat video of Tekashi69 saying, “I’m such a happy rapist” also was leaked. His management has spoken out saying it was a misunderstanding on his Snapchat and they deny all allegations.

While these allegations have brought a lot of negative attention to him as well, this has not stopped Tekashi69 from making some wild videos and music.

Tekashi69 is definitely an artist to look out for, we’re waiting to see what he’ll be coming out with next.
