SNKRS app sends hypebeasts into meltdown mode over Nike x Virgil Abloh collab

Yesterday, Nike and Virgil Abloh’s collaborative “The Ten” sneaker collection dropped on Nike’s SNKRS app. Because of the hype surrounding anything Nike or Virgil Abloh does, the internet had a collective meltdown over the inability to actually cop any of the sneakers.

The Ten collection itself (consisting of 10 different designs) was sorted into two categories, “Revealing” and “Ghosting”. The “Revealing” set included Air Jordan I, Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air Presto, Nike Air VaporMax, and Nike Blazer Mid. “Ghosting” includes see-through designs of Converse Chuck Taylor, Nike Zoom Fly SP, Nike Air Force 1 Low, Nike React Hyperdunk 2017, and Nike Air Max 97.

Through the Nike website, Abloh described his inspiration for the Off-White and Nike collaboration, saying that he used to draw on Jordans and send them to Nike headquarters as a teenager growing up outside Chicago.

Abloh said:

“We were enamored with Air Jordans. Michael Jordan was larger than life — he was Superman to me. My entire design background and ethos came from the ‘90s.”

That’s all well and good, but with Abloh’s moves over the last couple of years, going from Kanye’s aesthetic consigliere to streetwear mogul, sneakerheads all over the world were lining up on Nike’s SNKRS app to cop something from The Ten collection.

As is always the case with these exclusive streetwear drops, limited quantity just adds to the hype. With every hypebeast on the planet trying to cop the Nike x Off-White collaboration, the SNKRS app provided everyone with a steady diet of L’s.

The internet was NOT happy, but took those L’s in stride.

The Ten series is extremely fire, but it’s not worth the stress people. Resell market about to be going BRAZY.

Joe Rogan finds out about Supreme, goes off on kids that ‘don’t go outside’

Joe Rogan, stand-up comedian, UFC personality, weed advocate, and notable hunter, recently discovered Supreme on his podcast and it turned into a whole rant against the younger generation and their video games.

In a conversation with Joey ‘CoCo’ Diaz, Rogan started by railing against iPhones and the wild hype caused by the release of the iPhone X. Then Rogan’s producer brought up Supreme.

“What is Supreme?” Rogan asks as he’s filled in, “And people wait in line for bricks?”

Indeed they do.

Rogan then claimed this is what happens when an entire generation of kids does’t go outside,

“Fuckin’ kids today. This is what happens when kids don’t go outside, they don’t play, the don’t play sports. They stay at home, they just play video games.”

Diaz chimed in that if only these kids smoked weed, they’d see that waiting in line for bricks and fire extinguishers is pretty dumb,

“It’s Nancy Reagan’s fault with the ‘Just Say No’, if these kids smoked dope they’d see life for what it is.”

Rogan and Diaz were specifically shocked by Supreme’s non-clothing items like the brick, fire extinguisher, and crowbar. To be fair, if someone (an older person) had never heard of Supreme, the phenomenon of kids waiting in line to get their hands on Supreme merch may come as a bit of a shock.

But Rogan and Diaz took it as an opportunity to say that people never used to wait in lines and that the new generations wait in lines more… or something?

Waiting in line for hours, if not days, for anything is generally dumb. But if that’s what you want to do with your limited time on this earth, who am I to stop you? Joe Rogan is usually pretty spot on with his analysis of pop culture, but miss me with the whole ‘this fuckin’ generation just stays inside playing video games’ thing.

Keep copping them box logos, kids.

The 5 strangest Supreme drops hypebeasts copped, because it’s Supreme

Hypebeasts, rejoice! Supreme will be opening its doors again soon for its Fall/Winter 2017 collection. And the hype is real.

For those in the know, you may have spotted leaks these past few weeks. Leaks are common in the world of Supreme. Whether intentional or not, they do leave us wondering what is to come from upcoming seasons.

These images included color blocked sweatshirts, tees, and even Nike and Reebok collabs. Needless to say, this season shapes up to be one of Supreme’s biggest yet.

Two particular leaks also stood out from the rest: a Schminx Coin Bank and a Supreme Monopoly board game. Though neither are confirmed, they do raise eyebrows.

Supreme is no stranger to releasing weird and sometimes straight up controversial items. Here are some reminders of the pieces it has released to the public in recent years that made us scratch our heads and wonder “tf were they thinking?”

Not that we’d knock their hustle, because in the world of Supreme, everything is a must-cop.

Da Brick

Supreme

For Supreme’s Fall/Winter 2016 lineup, hypebeasts were treated to images of Script Varsity Puffy Jackets and the War Report Hooded Sweatshirt, as well as other much sought after items. Images of the Supreme Box Logo Hooded Sweatshirt alone left eager buyers salivating for weeks on end.

However, one item stood out from all the rest: an 8.25” x 4” x 2.25” brick with the word Supreme on it. Notably, during the same year, Eminem was also selling merch that included a brick in celebration of the Marshall Mathers LP’s 16th anniversary.

His brick, however, was actually from his childhood home. The Supreme brick, on the other hand, had no backstory to it except that it was a brick that had the Supreme logo on it.

I don’t suppose James Jebbia decided to also destroy his childhood home and sell bricks, but to each their own.

Shit Happens.

Supreme

The Fall/Winter 2015 preview was probably one of Supreme’s weirdest seasons yet. From air horns to baoding balls to metal lunch boxes, it sure was one of the loudest seasons when it came to accessories. And as the cherry on top, an 18” steel crowbar.

This was one of the craziest items Supreme ever released. Not only because it was just weird af but the hype was even wilder. Listings on Grailed have this item priced up to as high as $240 deadstock.

It was so popular that even Reddit had a thread titled “why is the crowbar so popular?” If you want to laugh, you should really check it out.

Skrt, Skrt.

Supreme

If it has to be sold online only, you know it’s a banger. For 2017’s Spring/Summer collection, Supreme went above and beyond by delivering one of its most expensive accessories yet: the Supreme/Coleman CT200U Mini Bike.

Priced at $998 (plus tax), it’s safe to say that Supreme was not pulling any punches when it came to stunting.

Even more outrageous were the images shared online from those lucky enough to cop that showed said bikes damaged due to poor handling.

In some cases, the boxes that these bikes came in were broken. After seeing these images, Supreme decided to make amends by issuing those few people refunds as long as they returned the bikes.

As they say, there is no such thing as bad publicity.

Floating on Supreme

Supreme

As if floating on a raft was cool, Supreme chose to up the ante by making their own raft with the Supreme logo all over in its Spring/Summer 2013 collection for hypebeasts to enjoy.

Though mainly for stunting purposes only, there was really nothing else to the raft. Unless of course you have your own pool, or most likely, your parents’ pool, to enjoy.

“The Charming Man”

Supreme

Though there is nothing weird about their tees. sometimes there’s a controversial story behind them. Supreme is known to work with iconic and high-profile musicians for some of their campaigns. They usually depict the artist wearing a box logo top.

From the likes of Raekwon, Dipset, Lou Reed, and even Neil Young, Supreme has had a wide range to choose from. In fact, this year, we will be seeing the legendary rapper Nas on a Supreme tee.

However, for its Spring/Summer 2016 season, Supreme’s choice was a little weird. For their Supreme tee, they chose The Smiths frontman, Morrissey. The choice to have Morrissey, wasn’t the issue, more so the fact that the musician was not seeing eye to eye with Supreme.

Morrissey stated the following on his website in response to the tee:

“I apologize enormously for the enfeebled photograph of me issued this week by Supreme. The shot was taken in October 2015. I considered the photograph to be fit only for a medical encyclopedia and I pleaded with Supreme not to use it.

“This was before I learned that Supreme were sponsored in part by the beef sandwich pharaoh known as White Castle. Supreme were issued with a legal caution not to use the photograph and their fee would be returned.

“Evidently Supreme have ignored my lawyer. No safety within the corridors of law. Ugh. I offer excessive apologies for this association. Shame is indeed the name.”

For those who don’t know, Morrissey is anti-meat. However, Supreme merely collaborates with White Castle and is not exactly sponsored by the food chain.

Supreme did respond back to the allegations, stating that they tried to work with Morrissey on the issue but he refused.

Hopefully in the coming weeks, we will be treated to a lookbook and preview to the new season. Fingers crossed we get a Supreme fidget spinner.
