China is trying to wipe hip-hop culture and tattoos from mainstream media

As hip-hop music and culture continues pushing beyond America’s borders and landing on foreign shores from South Africa to France, different countries are responding in new ways to the movement.

China, which has seen a sudden burst of hip-hop talent break through is now attempting to ban hip-hop culture from its mainstream media.

This report comes from SupChina, by way of Sina Entertainment (in Chinese), with the piece claiming that certain guidelines are set to be handed out to prevent images of tattoos or “demotivational culture.”

Four main points are said to be outlined by the Chinese government, reported by SupChina:

“Never use actors who are at odds with core values of the Party and lack high moral standards.
Never use actors who are indecent, obscene, or vulgar.
Never use actors who have low ideological level and no class.
Never use actors who have stains, affairs, or moral issues.”

SupChina also reported on the apparent reaction by the Chinese public on message boards:

“‘I firmly oppose tattooed artists on television. I don’t have any issues with someone’s personal preference, but they shouldn’t be on TV shows to have a bad impact on the young generation,’ one internet user wrote. However, some people found the new rules ill-advised and ridiculous. One person commented, ‘Having tattoos means no class? Chinese culture is horrible.'”

It’s clear that the Chinese government is trying to stifle the rise of countercultural youth movements like hip-hop and tattoos (?), but if we’ve learned anything over the years, these efforts will only make the kids more excited about hip-hop.

Yeah, China, this ain’t gonna work.

Floyd Mayweather got paid $3 million to vacation in China while you still broke as hell

Floyd Mayweather is still living the life after beating Conor McGregor and keeping his undefeated record in tact.

But let’s be honest, whether he won or lost, he’d still be the most Gucci.

At 40 years old, there’s still rumors of him returning to the ring to face another (strategic) opponent and adding a few more Ms into his bank account.

But until that gets sorted, Floyd is enjoying the fruits of his labor and is currently in China with 23 of his people to vacation. Oh yeah, and he got paid $3 million just to do it.

Call him cocky if you want but the motherfucker is filthy rich. The caption he shared on some of his flyest pics from his trip say it all. Towards the end he really broke it down from his perspective saying,

“With money this long, everything is different. I move different, I dress different and I live different because my money is extremely different!”

Well damn lemme hold something’! Just kidding. Floyd is living it up no doubt but so is your boy Conor McGregor.

With rumors that he may not even fight in the UFC again after raking in $100 million from his last fight with Floyd, god knows what he might start devoting his time to!

Conor also made some very hot-boy news when he allegedly punched an Irish mobster in the face during a barroom brawl. Apparently, there’s a ransom price on his head but, hey, best of luck to him with that!

As for Floyd, who really knows what he’s doing out there in China or who paid him? All we know is that he posted this weird ass Instagram post for some event he’s promoting.

Hopefully he doesn’t have to fight someone without realizing it.

Who the hell gets $3 million to do absolutely nothing? Oh yeah, Floyd!

Peep the new Chinese rap reality show is bringing in billions of views

China’s largest video hosting website, iQiyi, is proving that Chinese Rap is about to become the most fire music in the streets.

Why? iQiyi’s latest online reality show, Rap of China has brought in the views, 2.5 billion to be exact. That’s one-third of the world’s population.

The reality show is focused on showcasing young talent who flex their lyrical skills while rapping in front of a panel of judges.

Controlling the contestant’s hip-hop destiny stand legendary Taiwanese rapper MC Hot Dog, Chinese-born Canadian singer Kris Wu, American-Taiwanese rapper Wilber Pan, and Taiwanese rock musician Chang Chen-Yue.

The 4 season show brought a grip of underground rappers to public attention such as HipHopMan, Tizzy T, PG One, Jony J, and VAVA in 2017, the same year they started.

Rap of China  will dub you if your bars ain’t up to par. Peep this young aspiring MC get dubbed by judge Kris Wu.

Did you ever think that American rap would reach the shores of China? It was only a matter of time. The genre started to gain traction during the early 2000s all thanks to mega rap stars like Jay-Z and Eminem.

MC Bigdog, an eliminated contestant, who has been in the rap game before Rap of China premiered told BBC News, “It’s like they ripped open a gap and found it full of gold.”

Bigdog continued,

“Chinese rappers have been underestimated and neglected,” Bigdog said. “Our net worth has grown exponentially after the show, but it should have done so a long time ago.”

I’m definitely hyped about this new wave of hip-hop. Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen other Asian artists making waves in the world’s most popping genre like Keith Ape, Rich Chigga, and Joji to name a few.

Lest not forget about the Higher Brothers who are currently making waves in the American rap industry.

Check out these three finalists who made it to the very end and why Chinese rap is such a big deal.
