5 Bollywood films ready to shake up the culture in 2021

Bollywood films have always had a unique flavor to them, and the movies coming out in 2021 from India are no different. Yet while Bollywood films are incredibly unique, that doesn’t mean they can only interest domestic audiences.

The beautiful elements of our universe align when we collaborate and unite in many different areas. Intersectionality of cultures, fusions of perspectives, and interpersonal communication are also incredible features of our physical and chemical makeups.

Being able to grasp the fact that we are all so different, yet alike in so many ways is the glue that holds our Earth’s roots together. With that said, there are five Bollywood films coming out in 2021 that should heartily appeal to international audiences.

Let’s look into some of the freshest Indian films set to arrive in 2021.

Visa

Set to drop on March 19, Visa, directed by Ravi Punj (the man behind Punjabi Titanic) sets its sights on an adventure. Film production began back in 2016 and revolves around the theme of riches to rags.

The story is based around the character Sarpanch Surjan, Singh who sells his property to go abroad. And he then ends up facing hardships in a new territory.

Nonetheless, this movie deals with adversity, familial issues, culture shock, and social adjustment. Not foreign territory for Bollywood films, but sure to breathe fresh air into the midst in 2021.

Master

Master is a movie that dropped on January 13 this year as a pivotal production.

This twisted feature was first originally planned for an April 9, 2020 launch slate under the moniker, “Thalapathy 64.”

Ultimately, it deals with the inner workings of an alcoholic professor who exploits his juvenile students for illicit activities. Incidentally, director Lokesh Kanagaraj had to call an audible due to COVID, and leveraged his production wisely by joining forces with PVR Ltd.

Credit: PVR Ltd.

Master has been the highest-grossing production in the box office for 2021. The reason being, it is the case study for PVR, who intends to continue to release their respective productions according to the “age-old strategy.”

Master ultimately performed extremely well – despite being released in 50 percent theatre capacity in order to respect the Disaster Management Act.

This gameplan includes ‘business as usual’ as PVR Ltd. believes that the yield per eyeball is still higher in cinema halls than any other distribution strategy.

PVR is definitely up to something as the multiplex moguls on their team acquired Cinemax back in 2012. This then caused company shares to increase by 178 percent.

Make sure you catch this flick wherever possible with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Also, filming for this daring 2021 Bollywood film took place in Delhi, Chennai, and Karnataka.

Untitled 2021 sci-fi Bollywood film

The untitled movie that everyone seems to be buzzing about is the first-ever Indian sci-fi extravaganza. It also features Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in a pan-world setting amidst a fictional World War 3 situation.

However, everyone is looking forward to the first-ever romantic pairing between two absolute units. Nag Ashwin has brought together some of the biggest names to celebrate Vyjayanthi Film’s 50th anniversary.

Black Currency: The Fake Currency Truth Unfolds

Black Currency: The Fake Currency Truth Unfolds, directed by Sanjay Sharma, deals with some of the sociopolitical issues plaguing India and its neighbors.

This production plans to tackle the issue of counterfeit currency head-on with a sharp, tactful storyline. Agent Arjun Singh hires an undercover gangster to explore widespread theft taking place, a la fraudulent currency.

With potency, this activist 2021 Bollywood film bucks the trend and then goes against the grain to shed light on economic terrorism in India.

Rise Roar Revolt (RRR)

The Baahubali franchise is one of the most prestigious and sought-out movie events in recent history. Its upcoming film, Rise Roar Revolt (RRR), deals with prominent Telugu individuals who sought tribal freedom.

Still, this movie has a brolic budget and is currently producing the ‘climax’ portion of the intricate plot.

These 2021 Bollywood films give us hope for the future of film in India

Production and cinematography in the COVID era have proven to be difficult to maintain.

Subsequently, as is the case with any hardship – the strong will overcome. Many characters have welcomed the challenge to grasp onto existing tools in their belt and then find a way to advance.

Thus, some components must be slashed to make due, while moviegoers may have to develop different tastes and evolve. Regardless, the maximum beneficiary will always base around those who serve value to the audience members.

And for these upcoming Bollywood films of 2021, that’s still all we can ask for.

Remembering a legend: 10 iconic photos from Kobe Bryant’s career

To the photographers able to capture photos of Kobe Bryant throughout his illustrious career over the years, thank you. It is because of you that we have iconic and powerful photos of Kobe Bryant to remember him by, both on and off the basketball court.

Much of my family derives from Philadelphia and neighboring East Coast areas. The farthest back that I can remember is the first time my feet touched the ocean at age three in Avalon, NJ.

When I sat down with my grandparents to watch the 2001 NBA Finals (76ers versus Lakers), my family swore up and down how the 6ers and A.I. would triumph.

Unbeknownst to them, there was a guy on the other side of the court with the basketball named Kobe Bean Bryant. Remembering Kobe Bryant is one of the best things we can do whenever we need motivation and clarity.

Let us now reminisce and bask in the glory of the legendary ‘Black Mamba’ through this collection of wondrous imagery.

Remembering young Kobe Bryant at the tip of his career

“Green and inexperienced, dreaming about that chariot.”

Capital Steez – Dead Prez

Making the leap from high school to the league is quite the feat. Kobe welcomed the challenge in stride and set his sights on the upper echelon from day one.

Remembering Kobe Bryant means remembering him before reaching the height of his powers. The star-eyed youngster intent on being great.

Reading the paper, Kobe clearly disapproves of what he sees

Kobe Bryant photographed by Andrew D. Bernstein while reading the paper prior to playing the New Jersey Nets during the 2002 NBA Finals in Los Angeles, CA – June 01, 2002

The satirical caricature of Kobe’s domineering comrade, Shaquille O’Neal does not even measure up to his waistline. Why poke a bear? Kobe gives us his best Cam’ron impression in this flick in contemplation along the lines of, “Sure. Add fuel to this Mamba fire. My play will do the talkin.'”

Star-studded lovers Kobe and Vanessa Bryant in the early years of their relationship

Vanessa Bryant & Kobe Bryant photographed by Andrew D. Bernstein while arriving home after defeating the 76ers during Game Five of the NBA Finals in Los Angeles, CA – June 16, 2001

“Am I wrong? I want my bouquet when I can smell it”

(Legend – Benny the Butcher)

An undying passion for the game and commitment to excellence flowed through every vein of Kobe’s body. One can only imagine the amount of love and devotion Kobe showed to those with whom he surrounded himself, inside and outside of basketball.

We remember Kobe Bryant in his efforts off the court just as much as we do those on it.

A beautiful father-son duo, Kobe always respected and appreciated his pops

Kobe Bryant & his father Joseph Bryant photographed by Nathaniel S. Butler while in the locker room before a game against the 76ers in Philadelphia, PA – November 26, 1996

Kobe’s hunger transcended generations. He was one of the few athletes with the caliber to jump straight from high school to the NBA.

Some people know their calling from a young age and KBB was clearly of a different elk since conception.

Shaq and Kobe always had a contentious relationship, but there was always love there

Kobe Bryant & Shaq’s father Phillip Harrison photographed by Andrew D. Bernstein before a game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA – 2000

Kobe was a family man through and through. He yearned to discover every single detail and aspect about the game of basketball.

That crossed over to relationships as he wanted to know every single thing about those around him in order to better himself and advance relations in the utmost.

So even though Shaq and Kobe feuded, this photo of Kobe Bryant and Shaq’s dad reminds us that there was a lot of love on display still.

Before the rings, Shaq and Kobe had a lot to prove, together

Shaquille O’Neal & Kobe Bryant photographed by John W. McDonough while playing against the Houston Rockets in Inglewood, CA – May 09, 1999

The rift between Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal in their basketball endeavors was well-documented in their careers. When you get two competitive behemoths of that magnitude, it is difficult to have everything flow perfectly.

Regardless, their off-the-court disagreements never spilled over onto the court. As genuine basketball connoisseurs, that is all we can ask for.

After the first ring, this candid photo shows the pride both Kobe and Shaq felt

Clearly, the rings can do the talking. Not only that, but the sheer gaudy statistics speak volumes of these two players’ capabilities.

Call them what you want – never call them for fronts. These two men are legends.

Perhaps one of the most famous photos of his career, Kobe takes a second to take the moment in

Kobe Bryant photographed by Andrew D. Bernstein after defeating the Philadelphia 76ers in Game Five of the NBA Finals in Philadelphia, PA – June 15, 2001

Exhausted, spent, worn. Kobe poured his heart and soul into every bounce of the Spalding.

An individual to truly admire for his wondrous deeds on and off of the court, these photos of Kobe Bryant keep us inspired. Greatness personified.

The ultimate competitors: Kobe vs. A.I.

If you were there, you attended the closest thing to heaven’s entrance. Night in and night out during their careers, Kobe and A.I. spoiled us with their incredibly gifted outputs.

When Kobe fatefully passed on this day last year, A.I. was one of his many contemporaries to speak out on his love and respect for the Mamba.

“Greatness needs company, and we needed each other. Mike needed Prince like Prince needed Mike.”

One of the most famous photos of Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson: The two biggest Laker legends of all time

Kobe Bryant & Magic Johnson photographed by Walter Looss Jr. during a portrait session for Sports Illustrated in Los Angeles, CA – April 01, 1998

Voila, Magic! Not only did Kobe put on for the entire state of California, he commanded attention, globally.

Together with Lakers’ legends, Kobe had massive plans to continue to bolster the identity and elite functionality of the Los Angeles Lakers organization.

The magnum opus of Kobe Bryant photos: Kobe and Mike, teacher and mentor

Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant photographed by Andrew D. Bernstein during a game at The Forum in Inglewood, CA – February 01, 1998

There is no denying the fact that to be the man you have to beat the man. With careful craft and rigorous preparation Kobe molded his game ever so closely to that of Michael Jordan.

Kobe Bryant’s basketball prowess is what got MJ’s attention. But it was his work ethic and killer mentality that truly attracted Mike to Bean. And MJ spoke reverently about Kobe at his memorial in 2020.

“Kobe was my dear friend, he was like a little brother. When Kobe died, a little piece of me died.”

Bong Joon-Ho is the director American creatives are talking about

Korean director Bong Joon-Ho’s stock skyrocketed like a space-bound rocketship following the release of his 2019 film, “Parasite.”

The film won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival, snatched up four Oscars (Writing, Director, Picture, International Feature), and brought home an Ensemble Performance Award at the Screen Actor’s Guild.

Bong Joon-Ho films

An extremely versatile director with experience in multiple genres, Bong returned to his native Korean land to set the scene for this film which ran up the racks for everyone involved. Even his interpreter, Sharon Choi, is getting to the bag!

“I have a complex feeling about genre. I love it. But I hate it at the same time. I have the urge to make audiences thrill with the excitement of a genre, but I also try to betray and destroy the expectations placed on that genre.”

(Bong Joon-Ho)

Bong Joon-Ho uses duality to let his films shine brighter

It is not lost upon Bong Joon-Ho that his most critically-acclaimed film to date took place in his old stomping grounds. That is so raw, especially given the fact that this story is lightly based upon his own experience of tutoring a rich kid.

Bong Joon-Ho story

Throughout the film, Bong Joon-Ho sprinkles in Korean details and specificity that displays nuanced intelligence and nods to local connoisseurs.

Most importantly, it deals with the fact that Korea appears glamorous on the surface, but the income inequality gap continues to widen.

And this is the duality on display. The sheer divide between the upper and lower classes in Korea (that rings true in much of the world, surely America included).

Upon significant interest, Bong Joon-Ho insists that this film does not pit the rich against the poor. Rather, it is a neutral lens interrogation of the current system.

The beauty of Parasite

The South Korean film depicts a society where there is minimal respect. In a world where mutual respect should be the standard.

It also highlights the fact that forms of warfare and familial separation are not abstract ideas: rather they are very real and known.

Parasite is a vertical class stratification. Meaning, the Bong Joon-Ho film straddles the line between wealth and poverty in an excellent manner.

It touches upon the societal blind spots that are often overlooked and it illuminates them in such an intricate manner.

The way that Bong Joon-Ho, director extraordinaire, is able to zoom in so closely all the while creating a universal experience is what makes this film so captivating and prestigious.

Bong Joon-Ho’s career story is one of overcoming, so it is only right that his films are the same

Bong Joon-Ho loves to toe the line when it comes to social division. And he normally gives a slight nod to the underdogs.

He is revered by American creatives (and worldwide alike) for his ability to tap into different genres and transcend cinematic themes effortlessly. You can tell it is a Bong Joon production because he splashes in signature slo-mo scenes that exhibit extreme mayhem in nearly every piece he concocts.

“The multilevel, the conscious and the unconscious, is natural when I write scripts, when I come up with ideas and stories.”

(Bong Joon Ho)

South Korean film is in a good place in large part due to director Bong Joon-Ho

Bong Joon-Ho remains hungry and insists that level-headed ambivalence is key. He remains humble by living in a 9th-floor apartment and carefully crafting the elements of what is to come.

The duality in his work and his artistic integrity play a pivotal role within every aspect of his output. Remaining balanced, straddling the lines, and always asking questions to delve deeper serve him so well.

Also, Bong Joon-Ho is pushing to the forefront the conversation of seeing foreign films not as a chore, but as a delightful treat! There are so many films out there for us to see, South Korean or otherwise. And something as small as subtitles should not be a deterrent.

What makes Bong Joon-Ho an iconic filmmaker might you ask? His exclusive aura.

His productions weigh heavily on the minds of consumers due to their tendencies to tap deep into viewers’ psyches. Also, they are so well-packaged, and utilize nuances such as cultural capital, aesthetics, and perception.

There is a duality to every process, and the way that Bong Joon-Ho is able to balance and put out a polished final product is simply magnificent. Many would liken him to a Korean mineral which represents an “opportune metaphorical gift.” (Think the beginning of Parasite)

Kendrick Lamar’s new business pgLang sprouted from the concrete

Kendrick Lamar’s latest business venture, a creative agency titled ‘pgLang,’ encompasses everything Kendrick himself is about. A shroud of mystery, a touch of innovation, and a strong sense of community.

Maintaining a low persona as a top-tier celebrity is of paramount importance. Obviously, everyone has free will and choices to make. But, for elite artists like Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar, it becomes essential to move in silence for livelihood’s sake within the information age.

Given the fact that information is so readily available based upon a few Google deep dives, why would you choose to reveal more than necessary?

Kendrick has taught us a lot. Let’s dive deeper into pgLang and what has made him a perennial star and business leader.

Kendrick Lamar has always had an innovative business (and creative) mindset

Kendrick Lamar is the voice of our generation. His debut album, good kid M.A.A.D. city is an absolute classic. And it ranks with the Illmatic’s and Get Rich or Die Tryin’s when it comes its bursting upon the scene with groundbreaking purpose.

Kendrick, in business or otherwise, moves with a cloak of mystery surrounding him because he lives within his means and doesn’t make much noise. That means no fancy cars, exquisite houses, or exotic animals. It’s just business for Kendrick Lamar.

Kendrick’s latest business venture includes his high school friend and longtime manager, Dave Free. Free and Top Dawg Entertainment have a deeply rooted relationship that officially began in 2004.

Strangely enough, the time setting of G.K.M.C. derives from the year 2004 as the skits and lyrics reflect.

Dave Free went from initially handling T.D.E.’s social media presence to becoming co-president alongside Terrence Henderson Jr. (Punch) in 2007. It is Dave Free who introduced Kendrick’s music to the head of the label. This was while repairing Anthony ‘Top Dawg’ Tiffith’s laptop.

What is pgLang and who is involved?

A small while ago, Free departed from T.D.E. in favor of new beginnings. Now, pgLang is comprised of Kendrick Lamar, Dave Free, Jorja Smith, Yara Shahidi, Baby Keem & others.

It is considered a for-hire multimedia company that encourages people to live in the moment. And seek validation from within, not from outside sources such as our smartphones.

“As we grow up we begin to identify who we are from certain things – When you identify with something you are not it always leads to suffering/unhappiness.”

pgLang

pgLang has proclaimed that it is NOT a record label, movie studio, or publishing house. Due to its mystique, this statement could have multiple meanings.

Regardless, Kendrick, his cousin Baby Keem, and many influential individuals have banded together to innovate in the content creation game.

pgLang is multilingual. Our community speaks music, film, television, art, books, and podcasts — because sometimes we have to use different languages to get the point of our stories across.

Stories that speak to many nations, many races, and many ages. That is why our writers, singers, directors, musicians, and producers break formats when we build ideas and make them real for the curious.

Putting round pegs through square holes is not a process, but we embrace the idea of anarchy and challenges that make us stronger. pgLang is focused on using our experiences, and nurturing our many collaborators, to build stories that are equally accessible and engaging then fitting them within the best media.

pgLang (before redaction)

pgLang’s first collaboration is with Calvin Klein. And the agency has already dropped a lot of content surrounding the fashion brand.

pgLang prides itself on innovation, execution, organic surprises… a selfless reset. And treating life as an unlimited playground.

5 rap photographers who are always ready to shoot

Rap photography of our favorite legends gives us some of the most iconic images we have ever seen in pop culture.

It just so happens that when we think of rap photography, we think of the rappers being captured. But little do many people know, that rappers themselves like to take their own flics from time to time.

Look no further than A$AP Rocky, Tyler the Creator, Pharrell Williams, Frank Ocean, and 21 Savage to see rappers going in with a camera in hand.

Here is a look at these rap legends who have dabbled in photography.

A$AP Rocky looks just as good behind the lens as he does in front of it

As photogenic as Rocky appears, he is not hesitant to try new things either. This is sonically evident via his “TESTING” experiment as well as his creative endeavors (namely, the camera rotation transition that he unleashed during his A$AP Forever video).

It is so important to branch out of your comfort zone to truly tap into your inner being. A$AP has slightly distanced himself from his crew, in a sense, to explore more creative lanes and collaborations. The rapper taking an escapade into the world of photography is a prime example of that.

Tyler the Creator has excelled as a photographer in the rap music sphere

One who embraces the hate and lowkey admires insults, Tyler has never cared about what people think of him. With a radical entrance into the industry (Yonkers video) and a ‘backpack rap’ type vibe, he shifts the landscape with his work.

Unafraid to dive into new mediums, Tyler actually shot his own Rolling Stone cover with Kanye at the forefront. Talk about a rapper doing his thing in the photography world.

Say what you want about this man, but there is never a dull moment with him.

Pharrell Williams is also a photographer? What doesn’t the rap legend do?

Skateboard P is quite possibly the greatest producer of our generation. Extremely humble and reverent, Pharrell is just as versatile.

You know what they say, “When it comes to streams of income, ONE is much too close to NONE.”

Pharrell’s music output (rapping, singing, producing), BBC Ice Cream Brand, positivity campaigns, and skin-care endeavors truly make a difference in communities worldwide.

By understanding the magnitude of his opportunities, Pharrell never relinquishes an opportunity to be great. That also goes for photography for the rapper and his warm embrace of outside cultures at an early outset.

Pharrell is an absolute rap legend, and if he wants to be one in photography too, we are not betting against him.

rap photography

Frank Ocean the legend continues to surprise us

Frank the finesser moves so quietly and with so much pizazz it is nuts. He is an example of rap meeting photography and sparks immediately flying.

Dropping a double album to satisfy his contract requirements, while raking in a bag from Apple Music right when Apple Music started to get poppin’ is truly a masterpiece in and of itself.

Notably, Frank was seen at the 2019 Met Gala snapping flicks on a classic Contax T3. Without a doubt, the rap and lyrical genius carries complexities like photography skill that separate him from others and that is why he is a generational talent.

21 Savage is a rap photographer that you would not imagine

A near-death experience will certainly make one shift their trajectory.

This is exactly what 21 Savage did and he has made it more and more difficult to get near him ever since his foray into the hip-hop industry.

Just recently, the price of a Savage feature verse reached six figures, and the rapper is unafraid to dabble in video games, cartoons, photography and/or embody the villainous role.

“Young Savage why you snappin’ so hard?! Why ya picture captions so hard? Why you got like 4 SD Cards? Sheesh, is that DSLR?!”

*Read to the beat of 21 Savage song – No Heart*

These rap photographers are always ready to shoot

Photography depends upon so many pivotal factors. A picture speaks one thousand words and the time spent to capture it happens within seconds.

With that, there is so much more than just seconds that are put into becoming a great photographer. The key aspects revolve around lighting, setting, details, and comfortability between the one taking the flick and the photogenic one.

These photographers, while headlining as rap stars in their daily pursuits, sure know how to snap a fire picture. And for all of them, their endeavors outside of music are perhaps just as impressive as their highlights on stage.

Stimulus checks are here but are creatives investing in themselves?

Stimulus check relief has come in small doses, as Americans await the status of the newest $2000 checks after Inauguration Day. Americans have watched on as seemingly every other developed country on Earth has financially kept its citizens safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Americans expect even more help soon, as the $2,000 stimulus check promised from Joe Biden is the main reason many people voted for him and the Democratic candidates in the Georgia runoff elections.

via GIPHY

So while we wait for the additional stimulus check relief to roll in, we drew on three things to consider when getting your money.

Of course, this is for the people who are financially secure enough to look beyond the sheer necessities of life. And we stand with all Americans struggling right now.

There are some things that will never go out of style when it comes to valuable assets. The first being your dedicated passion, and the second being real estate and stocks & bonds. But, before we hit that nail on the head, it is so vital to evaluate our daily habits

While we wait on the status of the stimulus checks, take a second to focus on your mental health

First, it’s always beneficial to do a social media cleanse and limit our screen time. Reorganize your following, soak up knowledge through education, and captivate your audience.

via GIPHY

There is money lying around everywhere, and the internet is no different. Wiping clean any toxic remnants on your IG, Snapchat, Facebook, etc. will allow your brain to release serotonin in the right directions, not the fake aspirational ones.

From there, try to stick to one particular niche. Are you the fitness guy/gal, cooking extraordinaire, or perhaps the sports card trader with insider tips?

Whatever it may be, it is essential to provide value, by any means. Give away the game for free to build your following and then leverage that opportunity into something that may become subscription-based.

Hell, if you do it the right way and really start to see traction, you may bust out a podcast and receive sponsorship dollars. Whatever the case may be, you need to put the capital behind your well-calculated brand and build your ‘clout’ before you can do anything. Welcome to the information age.

Pour the stimulus check funds back into your side hustle

To complement any side hustle business, you should always pour extra funds back into the business. That’s 101.

via GIPHY

Investing will always be the smartest spend. Because the saying is: You work for your money and your money should work for you too.

Maybe give the Acorns or Robinhood apps a try? Bitcoin is certainly bursting and does not have a foreseeable crash with many more investors on board this time around. Just be wary of the volatility of any investment and ride it out by submitting continuous cash influxes with consistency.

Wisely place your stimulus check into real estate

The number one money-maker (IMO) is real estate.

There is a lot to be said for finding a fixer-upper property and playing the long game with renovations. If you are under 30 years old, most lenders will bless you with a first-time home buyer loan which is practically free money via thousand dollar grants.

Do your googles, find cost-efficient substitutes (3D Backsplash paper) and place capital toward major areas such as kitchen, bathroom, siding, etc.

Also, try to lower your monthly payments any way you can, such as a tankless hot water heater or new grid panel via solar electricity. These things cost a bit upfront but save you mightily in the long run.

Finding where you can get away with cheaper solutions versus backing out the checkbook for crucial areas is the key balancing act with real estate. Ultimately, it all comes down to being disciplined, finding your passions, and applying pressure during every day the Lord chooses us to wake.

The stimulus checks will help. But one must use their money wisely

We are all responsible for our own well-being. Additionally, we all have the powerful autonomy to make choices based upon free will. The foods we eat, the recreation we pursue, and the relationships that we grow all determine the means and gains of our livelihood.

Ultimately, we will reach our expiration date and that’s just a fact of life. Whatever is the status of the stimulus check relief does not change that fact.

Blessings to you all, and may you use the stimulus check relief wisely.
