NFL Draft prospect Derrius Guice dips on TDE to join Young Money Sports

NFL draft prospect Derrius Guice has switched record labels.

As odd as that sounds, it’s true. The former LSU running back has left Top Dawg Entertainment and joined forces with Lil Wayne’s Young Money APAA Sports agency.

This late switch comes as a complete shock. Top Dawg Entertainment was the first agency to reach out to Guice. Being the first athlete to sign to TDE was an honor for him.

Guice said:

“They were the first guys who came to me, just like LSU was the first school to offer me a scholarship. I didn’t forget that.”

Now Guice is joining a roster which boasts the likes of potential first rounder from Texas, Malik Jefferson, NFL Pro Bowlers Jason & Devin McCourty, and Jacksonville Jaguars’ receiver Dede Westbrook.

With the draft just a little over two weeks away, it will be interesting to see where Guice is selected among running backs.

While Guice is a first round talent, he isn’t expected to go in the first round. If Young Money APAA Sports can somehow raise his draft stock in this little time, it’ll be icing on the cake for the young agency.

Lil Wayne has always looked up to Jay-Z  in music, and when it comes to sports it’s no different. Weezy uses Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports as a testament for success.

The best rapper alive sat down with Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless on FS1’s Undisputed to discuss his sports agency. Lil Wayne said:

“[There is] no competition, that’s more of a goal we strive for to be like. That would be a pretty good equal.”

Roc Nation Sports features NFL and NBA big names like Kevin Durant, Dez Bryant, C.C. Sabathia, Todd Gurley and more. In addition to an already loaded roster, Roc Nation recently picked up future NFL first rounder Saquon Barkley out of Penn State.

With the star-studded talent that Roc Nation possesses, the agency promotes itself. This is their fifth year in sports management. On the contrary, in just two years Young Money has built a respectable roster themselves.

Having three superstars in Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj on your team would be hard to pass up. Combine that with the great young talent YM APAA Sports continues to add, hip-hop could take over the sports world.

Derrius Guice is the best player acquisition YM APAA Sports has landed thus far. One can only speculate that TDE’s lack of clientele was one of the reasons why Guice chose to part ways with the group.
