LeBron is opening a grade school in Ohio for kids just like him
LeBron James is the King and there’s no disputing that. Don’t @ me either.
Since he entered the league at 18 years old, he’s acted like a grown ass man, mature beyond his years and now at 32 he’s doing something he calls his most important professional accomplishment of his life. He’s opening up a school.

In an interview with Cleveland.com LeBron said,
“Besides having three kids and marrying my wife, putting my mom in a position where she never has to worry about anything ever again for the rest of her life, this is right up there.”
According to ESPN, the King opened up an “I Promise” grade school for at-risk youth in his hometown of Akron, Ohio giving kids just like him a chance to succeed.
In an interview with USA Today LeBron explained,
“This school is so important to me because our vision is to create a place for the kids in Akron who need it most—those that could fall through the cracks if we don’t do something. We’ve learned over the years what works and what motivates them, and now we can bring all of that together in one place along with the right resources and experts. If we get to them early enough, we can hopefully keep them on the right track to a bigger and brighter future for themselves and their families.”
Not many players in the league are making moves like this and for the best of them all to be setting this type of example, hopefully more star players start to step up and do follow suit.
Giving back to the community is always high on the list of priorities for athletes and for LeBron, it looks like he’s just getting started. The school opens in 2018 and students will be chosen through lottery.
According to Bleacher Report,
It will initially include third- and fourth-graders before expanding to first and second grade by fall of 2019, according to Zillgitt. By 2022, the school is expected to include grades one through eight.
