Danny Brown opens up the crib on Viceland for TV show ‘Danny’s House’

It feels like it was just yesterday when XXL dropped their 2012 Freshman cover with Machine Gun Kelly, Future, French Montana and other, now, household names of the cover.

As XXL covers go, there were a couple of unknown artists, but one character in particular — the guy from Detroit with the high squeaky-pitched voice, rapid flow, and egregiously chipped front tooth — stood out.

His name was Danny Brown.

Although his career may not be as grandiose as his aforementioned counterparts, Danny has more than held his own with his base. From getting head from a fan mid-performance to collaborating with the band Purity Ring, he’s been brilliantly unpredictable.

Which is why it’s lowkey not surprising that after having not released music since 2016, his way of making a return to mainstream is with his own television show,  “Danny’s House”.

“Danny’s House” will be a comedy talk show on Viceland executive produced by Derrick Beckles (“The Eric Andre Show” and “Mostly 4 Millennials”) and set in Danny’s basement. The show premieres on July 17 at 10 p.m. Eastern.

In the first trailer, it shows the heavy-hitting guest including A$AP Rocky, EL-P, Hannibal Buress, ScHoolboy Q, the Insane Clown Posse, “Broad City”’s Ilana Glazer, Gilbert Gottfried, Ron Funches, wrestling legend “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, and more.

It also previews a snippet of his original new theme song, which will be the first music he’s released in years.

Danny Brown has made some of the most unique and exciting music in hip-hop in a long time and it’s good to see him active and working. In addition to the new show, he has an upcoming album produced by Q-Tip, due to be released sometime soon.

His last album, Atrocity Exhibition, was critically acclaimed offering a myriad of sounds and themes as only Danny Brown can deliver. It only makes the wait for his new album that much more difficult.

Until then make sure you peep “Danny’s House,” and the topics he addresses with his different guests.
