BBC Ice Cream teams up with Chicago artist Hebru Brantley and BAIT for fire collab

Chicago graffiti artist Hebru Brantley, Billionaire Boys Club, and BAIT have masterfully come together again to launch the Beyond the Beyond collection.

The collection includes a collectible art figurine that comes in three different colorways including White Tee, Black Tee and a special limited-edition Black and Gold.

The tiny sculpture is a fresh look at the traditional view of the hero. In fact, the influential history of the Fly Boy character is hella fly and was inspired by the Tuskegee Airmen—the black pilots who fought in World War II.

Brantley spoke on where the idea for the Fly Boy character was derived from to BBC. He said,

“The childlike character derived from the idea of needing pivotal characters of color that could exist in a pop commercial space that’s also a space of high art.”

Although the “Black Tee” and “White Tee” versions of the toy first debuted last November, Brantley has had somewhat of a nostalgic effect on the public.

Over the last decade, the Chicagoan artist has garnered acclaim for his diverse artwork, but crafting toy sculptures of caricatures straddled to a shark head torpedo blasting through a colorful atmosphere of art is not his only forte.

Brantley’s skills span into painting, videography, sculpting, and photography. In fact, to validate his art swag, even more, his long list of famous buyers incudes JAY-Z, Beyoncé, Lenny Kravitz, and George Lucas.

If you’re interested in copping any of the 10-inch sculptures from the Beyond the Beyond collection better act fast as they do sell out fast. At its first appearance at ComplexCon 2017, it sold out during the convention.

Each figurine goes for a light artistic investment of $225 and each can be copped from a different source. The limited-edition Black and Gold colorway will be made available exclusively at the BBC NYC Flagship, located at 7 Mercer St. SoHo, NY.

The White Tee colorway will be made available in-store and on BBC’s website and the Black Tee version will be released online only.

A launch is scheduled for Friday, May 4th at the BBC US flagship store.
