Hailing from Chengdu, the Higher Brothers are bringing the trap rap sound to China. The group consists of four homies — Melo, Psy. P, Masiwei, and DZKNOW.
The Higher Brothers found the inspiration for their name from the household Chinese air conditioner brand, Haier. Peep what the group said in an interview with Hypbeast,
“The three of us were living together at the beginning and Melo and Psy. P were in a music group together. We put out our first song called ‘Higher Brothers.’ Which sounds a lot like the Chinese air conditioner brand Haier. We wanted to become that brand. Found in homes around the world and the best in any style.”
The Chinese rappers also found inspiration from Jay- Z, Snoop Dogg, MC Hot Dog, and Boss Shady. Even some of their American inspirations like Migos (clearly) is fuckin’ with them.

With two projects already out, with accompanying fire visuals, it was only a matter of time before the Higher Bros would gain some traction. They are on their way to becoming the hottest rap group out of China.

The trap rap group has been working closely with media and management companies 88rising and Control Music Group, the braintrusts behind Indonesian rapper Rich Chigga and Keith Ape of South Korea.
With the help of 88rising and Control Music Group, not only are Higher Brothers getting insane publicity in Asia, but American rappers like Migos, Lil Yachty, and Kyle have noticed the Higher Bros’ movement as well.

So far they’ve also managed to get some sick collaborations as well. They’ve worked with G.O.O.D. Music’s Charlie Heat, the only producer who was featured on Kanye’s TLOP .
The Higher Brothers have also worked with Jedi P (Keith Ape’s producer) Richie Souf (producer of Madeintyo) and Maaly Raw (producer of Lil Uzi Vert).

Things are looking up for these guys. The group is currently on their Black Cab Tour in Asia, but hopefully we can get an American tour going sooner than later. Definitely would be epic to see DZKNOW lose his mind on stage.
I’m praying for some more dope collabs as well, especially with the trap star rappers from America. A Migos and Higher Brothers collaboration might be the waviest thing to touch the game.
