Rihanna is on a mission to help the children of Malawi have a better future

Rihanna is really the GOAT.

From breaking the internet with her ensemble at Crop Over Fest in Barbados, to making some of the biggest records on the radio, forcing world leaders to commit to education for underprivileged communities, and trying to save the world, there is nothing Rihanna can’t do.

Her foundation, the Clara Lionel Foundation, was established to provide young women in Malawi proper education.

Rihanna then partnered her foundation with bike-sharing company Ofo, as one of the biggest barriers in the way of the young women of Malawi getting access to education is transportation.

Rihanna spoke of her foundation:

“I’m so happy about the Clara Lionel Foundation’s new partnership with Ofo because it will help so many […] young girls of Malawi get to school safely, cutting down those very long walks they make to and from school all alone.”

Via Global Citizen the “Work” artist spoke about the drop out rates in Malawi:

“It’s such a pity that they have to drop out, because they are so smart. Everybody’s learning together, and learning at the same pace it seems. It’s sad that has to end for some of them, because they could probably do so much if they had the resources to continue and complete.”

Rihanna advocating for these young women is such a powerful gesture.

As she said, most of the time it’s not due to a lack of passion or ability that girls in developing nations are forced to drop out. Rather, lack of resources, be they transportation or financial, and prejudice.

Shoutout the GOAT Rihanna!
