Summertime has been hip-hop’s season from when DJ Kool Herc shut the Bronx down on Sedwick Ave., back in August of 1973. Since then the summers have gotten hotter as hip-hop evolved into the world’s leading genre.
As hip-hop creeps toward a half-century of existence, Fuse and FM remember “Hip-Hop at 45” with 45 days of content celebrating the genre and its influence throughout the years.
Fuse.tv already premiered three fresh episodes of Rant & Rave featuring the hottest ladies in the rap game today. Young M.A. discusses the most iconic moment in hip-hop, Salt-N-Pepa sound off about the dopest trends inspired the genre, and Snow tha Product debates calling Latinos ‘Spanish’, strip clubs and more.

Harlem battle rapper, Loaded Lux, will kick off the special with epic bars about the history of his craft. Not to mention that during Hip-Hop at 45, Fuse will sit down with legendary emcee Big Daddy Kane in A Seat With… and Ayo & Teo in Made from Scratch.
Connecting us back to the culture the music-focused media company will be premiering two original digital series Deep Cuts and The Kickback.
The first is an interview series that takes a deeper look into the creative process that goes into becoming an established producer within the hip-hop industry and the other “a roundtable-style digital series exploring hip-hop culture.”
Besides that Fuse’s sister channel, FM will continue to celebrate the future of hip-hop weekly as they focus on the freshest up-and-coming artists like Trippie Redd, Sango, and HoodCelebrityy in Artists to Watch.
Also every Saturday at 6 pm ET throughout the summer, FM will offer a series of Hip-Hop at 45 video countdowns, in respect to the greatest and newest hip-hop artists in the game.
Music video blocks like 45 Legends of Hip-Hop, Hip-Hop’s First Hits, 45 Freshman of Hip-Hop, Iconic Hip-Hop Videos, 45 Hip-Hop Crossovers, and FM’s Guide to the 45 Best Hip-Hop Videos will all remind of why you fell in love with the global music genre.
If that’s enough Fuse will also be holding it down with the fire movies. Torque, Rhyme & Reason, and I Got the Hook Up all played back to back in a triple-hitter movie night last week Thursday. Trust that there will be more fire flicks to come as additional featured movies throughout the summer are toplined with mad hip-hop star power.
Hip-hop’s influence on film and TV will also be remembered as Fuse plans on airing episodes where hip-hop stars made guest appearances on shows like Moesha, Sister, Sister, and The Parkers.
Lest we mention the four-night television series, Hip-Hop Evolution premiering on Sunday, August 5th.
The docu-series chronicles the life and career of hip-hop pioneers like Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel, Grandmaster Caz, DJ Jazzy Jay, Kool Moe Dee, Big Daddy Kane, Kurtis Blow, Chuck D, Fab 5 Freddy, Sugarhill Gang, Russell Simmons and LL Cool J, among others through in-depth interviews, archived footage and more.
