Jackie Chan says ‘Rush Hour 4’ is in the works… if Chris Tucker is down

Good news for fans of the greatest buddy cop story of our time.

Jackie Chan has confirmed in an interview with Power 106’s ‘The Cruz Show’ that Rush Hour 4 is officially on the way.

Chan said of his recent moves in the film industry,

“For the last 20 years, I’ve tried different [characters]. A few years ago, Karate Kid. There was supposed to be a Karate Kid 2 but the script isn’t right. Several years later they want to do it and I say, ‘You still want to do Karate Kid? No, Karate Men.’ They’re taller than me now!”

But then Chan said something that will surely make his fans happy, “Rush Hour you can do any time… Next year!”

It’s been a long time coming for the next iteration of the Rush Hour franchise as Chan hadn’t found the right script,

“For the last seven years, we’ve been turning down the script, turning down the script. Yesterday, we just agreed.”

Now it appears that everything has lined up to Jackie Chan’s liking, “The script probably at the end of this month will have a second draft and next year, [we’ll] probably start.”

There’s only one slight issue as Chan added, “If… Chris Tucker agrees.”

I mean, you can’t have Rush Hour without Chris Tucker. The greatness of the film is due to the amazing dynamic between Chan and Tucker.

But Jackie assured that this was just a time issue and they should be able to figure it out,

“It’s not about money! It’s about [having the] time to make. Otherwise, Rush Hour 4 we’re all old men. I tell Chris Tucker, ‘Before we get old, please do Rush Hour 4.'”

For his part back in 2012, Chris Tucker told Vulture that he and Jackie were considering the next Rush Hour, “Rush Hour 4, we’re looking into it, me and Jackie. We’re trying to get it going, so we’re developing something, so hopefully we’ll get something in.”
