Pregnant women are smoking mad weed in California and it’s all good, we think
When you’re pregnant, everything down to your caffeine intake has to be monitored.
A new study by the Journal of the Medical Association has revealed that now, more pregnant women than ever are smoking marijuana in California.
There’s been a jump from 4.2 percent to 7.1 percent. Those numbers also change with age, 18 year old mothers are less likely to get high (12.5%) which 24 year old mothers are more likely to get high (21.8%.)
What the hell is going on here?
The oddest part is that when looking at the statistics, mothers above the age of 25 are more likely to smoke as well, with an increase from 3.4 percent to 5.1.
Marijuana is slowly becoming legal everywhere, yet California has been enjoying the plant since 1996, but the correlation between pregnant women and marijuana increase is unknown.
There’s a new community for mothers-to-be that emerged a few years ago, and they’re called stoner moms. Mothers believe they should have a choose when it comes to deciding whether or not they can smoke cannabis during their pregnancy.
Many accounts have proven that marijuana has little to no effects on the child being born. Still, it’s a risky move, because there have been links to “low birth weight, premature birth, small head circumference, small length, and even stillbirth.”
If not that dramatic, there have been minor effects recorded, such as unexpected responses to visual stimuli, a higher-pitched cry and trembling.

But what about consuming cannabis in other ways during your pregnancy? Cannabis oils, cannabis edibles… Would other means of marijuana consumption be considered dangerous for your baby?
We don’t know, but the best bet would be to abstain from participating in any activities that may harm your child, legal or not, until further studies have been released regarding the health risks of smoking any substance while with child.
Oh, and drinking isn’t cool either.
