We’ve seen celebrities and artists raise awareness and donate to the multiple natural disasters that have swept across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Mexico in the last couple months.
While Beyonce was reportedly behind the scenes as a major donor to the relief efforts in Houston after Hurricane Harvey, her husband Jay-Z has used his platform to raise more money for areas hit hard by recent natural disasters.
According to Variety, Jay hosted his third annual Tidal X: Brooklyn charity concert at Barclays Center to provide money, supplies, and awareness for Miami, Houston, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.
“Tidal X: Brooklyn, the third annual charity concert from the Jay-Z-owned streaming platform, raised $3.7 million in support of those affected by recent natural disasters, including Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria and the earthquakes that took place in Mexico.”
Variety also identified the particular organizations that Jay and Tidal will be donating to,
“Funds will be distributed among organizations including Empire State Relief and Recovery Effort for Puerto Rico, Global Giving, All Hands Volunteers, Kids in Need Foundation, Direct Relief, One America Appeal, Greater Houston Community Foundation, Miami Community Foundation, Habitat for Humanity in Puerto Rico, and more.”
It’s a beautiful thing to see Jay using his massive platform to assist areas in need as our planet continues to get more and more cooked.
With a diverse, star-studded lineup, attendees of the Tidal X: Brooklyn concert could see some of the biggest artists, past and present, while donating to a good cause.
The lineup included acts like Stevie Wonder, JAY-Z, Jennifer Lopez, DJ Khaled, Kaskade, Chris Brown, Cardi B, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Daddy Yankee, Yo Gotti, A$AP Ferg, Vic Mensa, Fifth Harmony, Joey Bada$$, Willow Smith, Belly, Iggy Azalea, and more.
Shoutout Jay-Z for doing the good work as his event raised a reported $3.7 million for relief efforts.
