Frank Ocean delivers legendary performance with Brad Pitt at FYF Fest

On Saturday night at FYF Fest, Frank Ocean was joined on stage by a rather high profile guest.

The elusive crooner began singing “Close to You” and a rendition of the Jackson 5 hit “Never Can Say Goodbye” when suddenly none other than Brad Pitt’s unmistakable mug was projected on the big screen behind Ocean.

Pitt had a cellphone up to his ear and a look of intent concern, mock talking into the phone as if communicating directly to Frank Ocean.

This was obviously a pretty special moment for Frank Ocean fans as the Channel Orange star’s live performances have been pretty few and far between.

Frank Ocean’s perfectionism is well-documented. It took him years to release Blonde, his follow up to Channel Orange, and he’s backed out of numerous live shows in recent months for unspecified reasons.

With massive studio headphones on, Frank treated the FYF crowd to a hell of a performance, even though he was unsatisfied with his production at times.

During a rendition off his song “Good Guy” Frank claimed he, “wasn’t really stoked on that,” and told the crowd that this was just his “fourth or fifth show in so many years.”

Frank Ocean wasn’t feeling that particular performance, so he started the whole song over.

As for Brad Pitt, his Frank Ocean fandom has been well-documented.

In a revealing interview with GQ back in May, the Fight Club star claimed that Frank Ocean’s Blonde helped him cope with Pitt’s divorce from ex-wife Angelina Jolie.

Pitt told the magazine,

“I’ve been listening to a lot of Frank Ocean. I find this young man so special. Talk about getting to the raw truth. He’s painfully honest. He’s very, very special. I can’t find a bad one.”

He’s definitely special.

If this is the kind of performance Frank delivers when he does actually do a live show, we’re hoping he’ll decide to do concerts more often.
