Fact or nah? 5 outlandish claims Soulja Boy made on the Breakfast Club
Last week (Jan 11th) Soulja Boy found himself trending after a viral rant on why he was the comeback artist of 2018 – not Tyga.
“N—as up in here talking about Tyga. Tyga? Tyga?! Huh?” screamed Soulja on his live feed. “Tyga had the biggest… Man, get the fuck out of here!”
Whether planned or not, the combination of his obvious change in features, shrieking proclamations, and non-stop quotables put Soulja Boy at the center of conversations.
“You n—as is trash, bruh, making this trash ass fucking music, saturating the fucking game. I sat back 2018, I sat back 2017 and watched you lame ass rappers fuck the rap game up. I been in this shit 10 years. I started rapping when I was 17,” he said.
Fittingly, Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club had to bring Young Draco up to, of course, talk his shit and hopefully bring some of that attention their way. And boy, did he.

The interview hasn’t been out less than ten hours and it’s already surpassed a million views. Among addressing his case for the comeback artists of 2018, Soulja calls out Kanye, sons Drake, and makes claim as a pioneer in rap.
As outlandish and really wild as it all sounds, there are some truths in there. It’s just, you never know with Soulja.
Either way, the discussions it’s prompted are constructive for the genre and really makes you think just how influential the “Crank That” artist may have been. So we went through the interview and laid out all of his claims.
He’s NOT on cocaine
After footage of Soulja yelling out “Tyga” more times than anyone would like went viral, people couldn’t help but see noticeable feature change and immediately assumed drugs.
Although he hilariously addressed it on his IG Live, explaining that his appearance was due to a near-death experience on Jan 7, Charlamagne made sure to follow up, asking to see under Soulja’s nose for powder residue when the interview started.
He later revealed that the rumor of him being on drugs started when stripper Kat Stacks started the rumor, back when they used to hang out for some reason.
He had the biggest comeback in 2018
Soulja is sticking to his script of having the biggest comeback of 2018.
While noting Tyga’s song, “Taste” went number one, he contends that being relevant, despite the beef and controversy he went through the year prior, makes him the more formidable candidate.
“I’m saying, 2016, 2017, I got into all that trouble with Migos and Chris Brown and Shia LaBeouf and this person, that person. And I was presented in a way that people counted me out,” he said.
Hard to argue with his logic there, although I’m not sure how much I agree.
He signed $400 million record deal
In discussing all that’s going on with Soulja’s life, his rumored $400 million deal came up, and, to my pleasure, he stands by it.
Although the $400 million has since been clarified as an endorsement deal that’s with an incentivized cap, he tells the Breakfast Club that it’s real.
“Facts, n**** goggle it. I got the contract in the car right now,” Soulja contests when Charlamange called it one of his “famous lies”. Charlamagne then read a statement from the company that said they were shares that actually are actually valued at $2.5 million.
Soulja’s response: “Millions is millions, my baby.”
That he started this internet rapper wave
You’d have to search high and low to find an artist that came up off the internet before Soulja Boy. We’re talking over a decade ago, Soulja was selling ringtones, on MySpace, infiltrating the internet in ways labels are now instructing their artists to do.
The viral dances that seem to be a must-have to go number one all stemmed from Soulja, so his claims aren’t too off-base.
“I been doing this YouTube, I was the first artist on social media. I was the first artists on Youtube. The record labels set their blueprint behind me,” he said.
When you compare how the industry treated him when he first came out to the success he was able to have, you’d understand the chip on his shoulder.
“They said I killed hip-hop and now they doing exactly like I did and I’m being shunned upon. I’m the reason y’all doing this. I’m the reason why all these artists have social media. Y’all should thank me. Every artist in the game, all y’all record labels, y’all owe me five percent, bro. … Y’all gon’ respect it.”
That he taught Drake EVERYTHING he knows
Probably the boldest of claims he made during the interview was that he taught Drake everything he knows.
Upon first hearing that, it may sound ridiculous, but you’d have to remember that Soulja came into the game before Drake, and even more, was on top of the world at that point. Seeing how Drake likes to attach himself to what’s hottest and trending now, it’s not far-fetched to believe he did so then, too.
Using the same voice to call out Tyga, Soulja Boy stands up, and, in disbelief, shouts out “Drake?!” inquisitively, almost as if he was offended.
Soulja Boy then went on to say how the most memorable line in one of Drake’s first singles, “Miss Me” was a carbon copy his song, “What’s Hannenin'”
“Drake? Drake? The n***a that got bodied by Pusha-T?” Soulja said when the Breakfast Club team started comparing Meek Mill and Soulja Boy comebacks.
“The n***a that’s hiding his kid from the world but the world wanna hide from his kid? Y’all n***as better stop playin’ with me . . . Stop playing me like I ain’t teach Drake everything he knows. He copied my whole fucking flow! Word for word, bar for bar.”
After the interview Soulja posted the two songs on his Instagram as proof.
Hate him or love him, Soulja Boy is still here, and there’s no telling what’s in store with a new label and new money behind him.
Let’s just hope its good a good one.
