Have you ever heard a gunshot before? Rihanna’s cousin, Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, heard multiple as bullets entered his body on Boxing Day, a European holiday that takes place one day after Christmas.
According to Nation News, Alleyne was walking in the St Michael’s area of Barbados around 7 pm on Boxing Day when he was shot by an unidentified man several times.
He was then rushed to the QEH by a private vehicle, where he later succumbed to his injuries. It’s always sad to see a young man go due to the vicious acts of others. Alleyne was only 21-years-old.
Rihanna took to Instagram, expressing her grief and called for an end to gun violence. It seems as if the two were quite close. One of the pictures included in the very emotional IG click-thru gallery showed Rihanna and her cousin on the pop star’s 29th birthday.
The post was then followed by heart touching text that read,
“RIP cousin… can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man! #endgunviolence“

Apparently, Barbados has seen an increase in gun violence. In a report from Barbados Today, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, Colvin Bishop, revealed that this year there was a 57 percent increase in gun crimes.
In fact, 91 firearms were seized, along with 2,721 rounds of ammunition and firearms were used to commit 318 crimes.
Plus, there was a rapid rise in gun offenses that contributed to a five percent increase in crimes overall and recent figures reveal that 22 of 28 murders in Barbados this year have been gun-related.
Hopefully, the Bajan police department will be able to catch the criminals behind the murder of a young man whose life was taken too soon as there is an ongoing investigation.
