North Korea is ready to get it poppin’ and you should be SHOOK

You might have thought it was quiet for North Korea’s missile testing program for these past two months. YOU THOUGHT WRONG!

In fact, today Kim Jong Un and his nation just gave the rest of the world something to worry about by testing their most powerful missile yet.

North Korea has launched an intercontinental ballistic missile which is capable of reaching the Beast Coast, hitting major metropolitan areas like NYC or Washington D.C.

To put this into perspective for you sheeple, the North Korean ICBM that was tested soared higher the International Space Station and splashed safely into the East sea.

Meaning the Hwasong-15 left the earth’s atmosphere and reentered without burning up. Well, this is HOT-BOY and Kim, duly noted!

North America is not the only continent at risk either. Remember that Europe is even closer to North Korea. But for some reason, they aren’t shook. Maybe because North Korea is strictly focusing on their archenemy, the United States.

Still, other countries now fear that any chance of halting the communist country from becoming a nuclear power has come to an end.

In an interview with ABC, political science professor Robert Kelly of the Pusan National University in South Korea, said,

“We know they were building to this. They got it no matter how badly we wanted to stop them… We are stuck. We have to adapt to North Korea as a nuclear power, and we will actually.”

But, other nations seem to disagree and it seems we are about to enter a missile pissing match.

South Korea let their sister country know what’s really good by launching three missiles in response to the North Korean ICBM launch.

Peep.

Best believe President Trump (aka cousin Cheeto puff dust) said “this a situation we will handle.”

Depending on what America’s No. 1 fuckboy says or does I suggest you start stocking up on your water. You are going to need to start chugging bottles just to relax.

This shit is stressful AF.

UPDATE: Kim Jong-Un and the North Korean state media have released pictures of  their ICBM, Hwasong-15

Why would UConn let a racist give an ‘It’s OK to be white’ speech?

I thought I was the only one buggin’ when I checked my school’s “Buy or Sell” Facebook page, an online platform for UConn students to do exactly that, buy and sell, and saw a post referring to an event “It’s OK to be white,” hosted by far-right journalist Lucian Wintrich.

But when it actually happened, I think it’s safe to say most of UConn came with the same ferocity and outrage. It was even moved because they were apparently afraid of protesters making a disturbance.

Lucian Wintrich, a very well known conservative blogger who has already been alleged for being straight up racist, has even been accused of being a “white supremacist” by John Decker at Fox News.

This 29-year-old out here trying to push these “beliefs” to schools now? “Putting an end to victimhood and privilege?” I didn’t know UConn was rockin’ like that.

And as for another thing, I know the university’ president Susan Herbst wouldn’t go like that either, so I’m wondering why the hell did they allow it?

Apparently, after getting the expected booes from the crowd, one brave and heroic soul, walked up and snatched up Mr. Wintrich’s “speech” papers.

I guess Wintrich had enough because he looked widdit to throw hands and got himself locked up in the process. So at least there’s a positive to this story.

But to add some background to this seemingly harmless blogger, Media Matters says Jim Hoft, aka “The Dumbest Man on the Internet,” and Gateway Pundit Founder announced Wintrich as the White House’s new correspondent with the Trump administration just a day before Trump’s inauguration.

A few weeks after that, just hours after the first White House press briefing, Hoft tweeted out a pic of him and young Wintrich holding what’s apparently a hand signal referring to the racist “Pepe” meme.

If you think that’s a bit of a stretch, here’s the tweet:

Hoft’s political blog also often shows repeated inaccuracies and just blatant lies so we can see why Lucian Wintrich fits in so well with him.

According to Media Matters,

“Hoft’s website is one of the worst purveyors of false information on the internet, having repeatedly fallen for fake stories, published numerous articles with factual inaccuracies (later pulling some, but leaving others uncorrected), and pushed fact-free conspiracy theories about a wide range of topics including President Obama’s birthplace.”

Aight, so let’s get back to Wintrich. Behind this facade of “the future of journalism,” that he’s trying to portray, why not just give the people more info? Media Matters denotes him as a “gay, conservative mouthpiece,” but to be fair, not entirely false.

https://twitter.com/KultureHub/status/936000764408975360

Wintrich is also the artist behind a “Twinks4Trump” photography exhibit that was showcased at the GOP convention just over a year ago.

The importance of this is his closeness to many figures of the alt-right movement. I’m sure you remember them from Charlottesville.

His art exhibit featured mad racist and misogynistic people, such as Martin Shkreli, Milo Yiannopoulos, and even Gavin McInnes, who called our beloved Jada Pinkett Smith a “monkey actress.”

Wide Eyes What GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

And there were many other “contributors” featured in Wintrich’s fun lil’ photography exhibit as well. Wintrich himself has also personally attacks people on Twitter regularly, much like Trump does on a consistent basis.

For what reason? We don’t know.

IDK about you, but before I’d allow someone to speak at my more liberal university, especially with an event name like that, during this time… I’d probably do a quick background check first.

Or maybe just realize that the speech in itself would bring about nothing more than division between students and more anger. Kinda like what our trusty President does every time he opens his mouth, and we all recognize that right?

My question is what were you thinking, UConn?

Here’s 5 people who deserve to be Time Magazine’s 2017 Person of the Year

For as long as I can remember TIME Magazine’s Person of the Year has been just as an indicator of the year’s end as Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

The honor, which serves as a refresher to what figures has had the most influence the past year, is determined by the magazine’s unofficial public poll, where pretty much anyone is allowed to vote in who they believe is worthy.

Past winners have ranged from groups of people to specific movements and is not exclusive to candidates who’ve only had a positive influence. In fact, Donald Trump won the award in 2016, but took exception after the issue went to publication with the unflattering cover title: “PRESIDENT OF THE DIVIDED STATES OF AMERICA.”

Image result for 2016 person of the year cover photo

With Thanksgiving being over it seems that we’ve found ourselves at that time of year again. The Poll, which closes December 3rd, has had the web contemplating and debating who they believe should be voted in or who was left off as a candidate.

Ironically enough, just yesterday, Trump decided he wanted part of the conversation tweeting that he “took a pass” at the this years title after the magazine reached out to him, because he didn’t want to follow through with the process proceeding his victory.

Of course this wasn’t true. Sadly, the President of the United States of America lying to the general public is sort of the norm now. TIME magazine swiftly came to correct the Head of State, stating that his claims were “incorrect.”

What is true is that Trump currently tied for third place at 5% with “The Dreamers” and the hashtag “#MeToo,” but all three trail Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, who is ranked No. 1 with 21% of the vote.

#MeToo

Rose Mcgowan Whatever GIF by Women's History - Find & Share on GIPHY

The viral hashtag that means so much more than a trend stems from the recent wave of sexual harassment allegations which surfaced in various industries following the fall of long-time Hollywood filmmaker Harvey Weinstein.

We’re talking names like Kevin Spacey and Louis C.K to Republican State Senate hopeful Roy Moore any many more who all have had allegations of sexual harassment brought up against them.

The more women came forward the more empowered woman across the world felt. In result, one by one, incidences from decades surfaced, shedding light on we learned has been a plight for women for years.

What became abundantly clear, is that there is an ugly issue of sexism and, like racism, must be addressed and uprooted.

Given that the voting is closing soon, I figured I take a stab at narrowing the open field down to the top five candidates of who I think is most deserving of TIME’s person of the year (spoiler alert: it won’t be Trump).

Jemele Hill

https://giphy.com/gifs/3ohs7T2drHyrBn9x96

Jemele Hill  is an anchor who co-host ESPN’s six o’clock flagship program The Six.

Brought over with co-host Michael Smith from their very successful program on ESPN 2, His and Her’s, it was a big deal when both of the anchors got the promotion to take over the iconic news program’s hottest slot.

But earlier this year Jemele found herself in trouble when her tweets about Donald Trump gained some traction, even causing causing the President to call her out. Though mostly accurate and not at all inappropriate, ESPN suspended her for two weeks in response.

Jemele’s courage to stand for what’s right what matters in the midst of having a politically diverse viewership caused a massive stand of solidarity in her stead.

Even in her return, though mindful of her limitations, Jemele remains a voice for oppressed voices in a space where it’s not encouraged — a space that desperately needs it.

Colin Kaepernick

A post shared by Know Your Rights Camp (@yourrightscamp) on

Coloin Kaepernick ‘s planted seeds in 2016 have been prospering and disrupting all sorts of shit up in 2017.

His choice to kneel last year was done to peacefully bring attention to the killing of unarmed black men by police in America. This year, though he is not on an active roster,  players on teams across the league — and even coaches at one point — put their knee on the ground.

Ultimately, this has caused choas in the league. With players saying Kaepernick deserves a roster spot, sponsors saying they’re losing money and the President calling for player’s ousting, Kaepernick has done more in one gesture than anyone in recent memory.

Now Colin has filed a grievance against NFL owners on accounts of collusion. Depending on the ruling and if he indeed gets back in the league and succeeds, it would be hard to argue who had a more impactful year.

Elon Musk

Elon Musk Company GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

I would say that Elon Musk has had one of the quietest successful years in a while but you would have to had been under a rock not to at least tune in to one of his groundbreaking discoveries this year.

Where do you even begin? Previewing models of SpaceX’s space suit, his research venture training an AI to teach itself and publishing his revised plans to colonize Mars don’t even scratch the surface the innovations he’s had his fingertips on this year.

https://kulturehub.com/elon-musk-spacex-mars/

Steve Jobs may be gone but there is every bit of genius in Musk that can provide innovation that matters still.

Cardi B

My vote for person of the year is Bronx rapper/actress Cardi B.

The former social media sensation has managed to move from a reality television star to having the highest-charting song by a solo female rapper since Nicki Minaj’s to getting engaged to Offset from Migos all in a years time.

She’s graced the cover of Rolling Stone, The New Yorker and has performed for Jimmy Kimmel — her accent to mainstream has been unparalleled.

The fact that she has done all this while being completely herself is a message to anyone who thinks what they have is “not enough” to make it.

I’m not sure who will win, but whoever does usually comes with a just reason. The poll ends Dec 3.

SMH: New York’s new $740 million train breaks down its first day out

New York’s new expensive-ass subway train broke on its first day in service.

While this is terrible to hear regardless, what makes it even more painful is the $740 million the train cost in the first place.

The model was an R179 from Bombardier and was out on a test conducted by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, according to The Daily Mail.

Apparently it all went down like this:

Around 12:15 p.m. the train’s emergency brakes went on after it went over a bucket that hit the 121st street station exit for the J line in Queens.

One of the doors was open of the cars was noticed to be open by the time the train reached 111 St.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Bombardier’s team wrote this off as a “faulty message,” but since then, the train was pulled off the tracks completely.

MTA spokesman Shams Tarek is quoted by DM, giving a statement,

”The testing process involves putting cars into service and routinely reviewing their performance. This testing will continue on Friday and we’re looking forward to fully deploying these trains.

Disappointing news for New Yorkers, especially since the MTA paid Bombardier for 300 cars, but nothing that can’t be fixed. Luckily, no one was hurt and the transportation company will be able to rectify the original mistakes that were made.

This year, the 70 cars were set to go in service, and 230 of them in 2018.

Train Nyc GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

As per AMNewYork, the subway trains won’t be extremely distinguished, but will come with many,

For now, the 300 subway cars, models known as the R179, won’t look much different than the newer cars riders currently see on lines like the L. But they are expected to help the MTA save money it currently spends on the upkeep of the old cars, frequently spotted with broken doors or faulty air conditioning units.

Hopefully they get their shit together. It’s been a terrible year for the MTA in NYC.

Uma Thurman sends warning shots to Harvey Weinstein in cryptic IG

Whether being honored for her skillful assassination skills as The Bride in Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2, or her presentation of the trap-spirited Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction, Uma Thurman’s legacy performances in cinema will continue to impact a multitude of generations to come.

Recently, Uma has spoken up against the Harvey Weinstein allegations of sexual harassment cases in Hollywood.

In an Instagram post, Thurman expressed her feelings about the case in the most cutting way possible.

Rather than speaking of her feelings alone, Uma threw Weinstein a jab during a Thanksgiving themed post, that’s left everyone guessing what she meant, and how radical of an assertion it really was.

“Happy Thanksgiving everyone!” she concluded her thankful caption, “Except you Harvey, and all your wicked conspirators – I’m glad it’s going slowly – you don’t deserve a bullet) -stay tuned Uma Thurman.”

“I said I was angry recently, and I have a few reasons, #metoo, in case you couldn’t tell by the look on my face,” wrote Thurman, referring to her Access Hollywood interview in October to which she had originally said that she was too angry to speak over what had happened.

Thurman’s original statement to Access Hollywood was heavy on it’s own. Her resentment towards Weinstein is very clear from her words.

“I don’t have a tidy soundbite for you, because I have learned, I am not a child. And I have learned that when I’ve spoken in anger, I usually regret the way I express myself,” she said. “So, I’ve been waiting to feel less angry, and when I’m ready, I’ll say what I have to say.”

Thurman’s ability to hold onto her silence is a powerful example for the other side of victims associated with the #metoo movement- the ones that are not ready to come out and discuss their experiences or pain.

But Uma isn’t alone. Hollywood victims and supporters of the viral moment have formed an alliance against the names exposed in the industry.

Whatever Thurman is holding back will undoubtedly be significantly important for the world to hear. Whenever you’re ready to speak out, we’re here for you, Uma!

Why Net Neutrality is a big deal and what you can do to fight it

Over the past couple of days you might have caught wind of the term ‘Net Neutrality’ going around.

Whether on Twitter or frantically spammed onto you by your conspiracy theorist friend, the buzzword seems to have come up out of nowhere. That’s because this past Tuesday the Federal Communications Commission announced they were planning to scrap it.

F.C.C. chairman Ajit Pai spoke to the New York Times about doing away with the 2015 Obama regulation and his reasoning behind it saying:

“Under my proposal, the federal government will stop micromanaging the internet, instead, the F.C.C. would simply require internet service providers to be transparent about their practices so that consumers can buy the service plan that’s best for them and entrepreneurs and other small businesses can have the technical information they need to innovate.”

Yet, judging by the sense of urgency in people’s response to the FCC’s proposal, it seems to be deeper than simply buying a service plan for the internet.

That’s because it is.

Net neutrality prohibits internet providers from blocking or slowing down access to certain content and mandates internet service providers like Comcast and Verizon to provide equal access to the internet. When all data has to be created equally, it ensures that everyone can load their content at the same speed.

So when you switch from binge watching Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO Go to catching the game on NBA League Pass the stream works just as quickly. One does not compromise the other.

What the FCC is proposing is an “open market” approach which allows competitive pricing for internet services. In a market unregulated by net neutrality, providers can charge tech companies a premium to send content to consumers more quickly.

For example, with how much Netflix is pulling in, Verizon could easily up the price on them and they’d have no choice but to comply simply because they rely on networks like AT&T and Verizon to carry their content to users. Or Comcast may see a company like Facebook —  which has a billion plus subscribers —  and decide to make them pay a premium simply because they could.

It’s no coincidence that the only people advocating overturning net neutrality are the established ISP’s — the one’s who govern the internet’s point of entry.

The FCC’s push has inspired tech giants like Amazon, Facebook, Google, Mozilla, and Netflix to join together in opposition of the the new proposal. Their efforts are supported by The Internet Association as well, who says that dismantling the rules,

“will create significant uncertainty in the market and upset the careful balance that has led to the current virtuous circle of innovation in the broadband ecosystem.”

While Pai is correct in that net neutrality stifles the sector’s economic possibilities — total investment in broadband fell 5.6% between 2014 and 2016.  The reality of startups surviving in this sector this late in the game is unrealistic. Doing away with net neutrality is capitalism 101 but that’s the issue.

If these regulations were dismantled, service providers would succumb to competition, making non-partnered websites or data that’s not advantageous to their agenda difficult—or impossible—to access.

The internet is a service, a commonplace for information, not a taxed good.

The Verge makes a great point, stating that “roughly 78 percent of Americans have either no high-speed access or just one provider.” So if your provider decides not to give full capabilities to your favorite site, you’re caught in the crossfire.

The internet should not be another case of ‘let the best man win’. Like education, there are certain services where the highest quality should be made available to all and access to the internet and information is one of them.

Chairman Pai first unveiled his plan to industry lobbyists in April 2017 and was approved to have the proposal moved forward in May, but received tens of millions of comments from internet users who want to keep the protections in place.

The FCC will vote on his Net Neutrality-killing plan on Dec. 14.

Click here to voice your complaint and to speak against this plan and don’t forget to tell your members of Congress to condemn Pai’s attack on the open internet.

45 teachers resign from PA school after getting the hands from first graders

Somewhere, in a Pennsylvania school district, first graders are giving their teachers the hands.

This is serious. Teachers are getting fucked up by first graders and now they’re resigning. So far, 45 plus teachers have resigned due to the violent behavior of their six-year-old students.

Amanda Sheaffer, a first-grade teacher who attended a Harrisburg school board meeting on Monday, said,

“I have been kicked, punched, hit, scratched. I’ve had a student physically restraining me in front of my other students,” according to PennLive.com.

Damn Sheaffer, you got knocked the fuck out… by a six-year-old?

These must be mutant toddlers. According to Harrisburg Education Association President, Jody Barksdale, these first graders are brolic AF,

“Teachers and students are being hit, kicked, slapped, scratched, cussed at…. and observing other students flip over tables, desks and chairs. Teachers have had to take the rest of their class into the hallway to protect them during these outbursts…”

So how can you stop this crazy behavior? Take away their naps, snacks, and arts and crafts. Nah.

These little elementary monsters are about to have their lives changed on some gangsta shit. The Harrisburg Education Association is thinking about bringing in a task force to fuck up their whole shit.

A TASK FORCE!

Lowkey, this answers a very serious question I’ve always wondered, ‘would I rather go toe-to-toe with one brolic guy or fight a classroom of sixth graders?’

Now I know, the better decision is to go with the brolic dude.

These kids today, man. They really have the hands. Watch out you might run into a first grader that’ll humble you real quick.

Uber is on some next level hot-boy shit, paid $100,000 to hackers

Last year Uber paid $100,000 dollars to hackers. Why? So, the hackers could delete and not share 57 million customers and drivers’ personal data that they had collected.

That sure is a lot of identity theft to keep on the DL for a whole entire year. According to an Uber statement, hackers obtained the names and driver’s license numbers of around 600,000 drivers in the United States.

To add, the files downloaded by the hackers included names, email addresses, and mobile phone numbers of 57 million customers.

But, to be honest, how could we be surprised? Uber has been taking consecutive Ls and the company is known for their dishonesty.

Uber was fined in 2016 for withholding information about a 2014 hack. Let’s not forget the illegal tracking of customers’ iPhones and letting convicted felons and others with hot-boy backgrounds drive for the company.

The latter just happened this Monday and Uber got the Uber fine – $8.9 million. It’s like no wonder why the Uber thief had to g it.

https://giphy.com/gifs/money-driver-uber-FnbH0kOHk7vm8

This girl epitomizes where Uber stands as a company. Damn. Stealing from behind our backs thinking we are not seeing anything. Oh, we see you.

So what’s next for the dishonest ride-sharing company? According to a press statement released after the hack disclosure, Uber’s CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, said,

“None of this should have happened, and I will not make excuses for it. While I can’t erase the past, I can commit on behalf of every Uber employee that we will learn from our mistakes. We are changing the way we do business, putting integrity at the core of every decision we make and working hard to earn the trust of our customers.”

I smell BS. Once a liar always a liar. Uber, you can’t lie multiple times and expect us to trust you. This relationship will now and forever have trust issues. *Drake voice.*

Donald Trump has finally met his political match in LaVar Ball

After arguably one the most hilarious and unexpected interviews of 2017, I can honestly say that I am now a proud supporter of BBB.

Although you’ll never catch me dead in any pair of ZO2’s, LaVar Ball definitely has my support in terms of advocating for his brand and what it represents after he went on CNN and refused to acknowledge Trump played a role in helping his son LiAngelo leave China after a shoplifting incident.

Behind the smoke and mirrors of LaVar Ball’s antics and outlandish commentary on certain topics I believe LaVar Ball knows his bottom line and knows exactly what he is doing.

Let’s get away from the sensation of things for a bit and look at the LaVar vs. Trump situation for what it is. That this is just one huge PR move for both parties.

For LiAngelo, Cody Riley, and Jalen Hill they are just caught in the middle of a situation that I believe they definitely will regret for a short period of their lives.

For LaVar this is just another opportunity to turn a negative into a positive. Big Baller Brand (BBB) is attempting to reign among likes of the major corporations like Nike, Adidas, Under Amour, and Puma.

In order to compete with these massive companies, you gotta have two of the major key components of brand awareness; publicity and controversy.

Come At Me GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

According to Mark Cuban via TMZ Sports:

“On the real, they are so much alike,” Cuban said. “Because Donald will say what he needs to for PR and to be talked about, and so does LaVar. Donald doesn’t apologize for anything, neither does LaVar. LaVar knows if he apologizes, there’s nothing else to talk about. If LaVar doesn’t apologize, he’ll be in the news all day every day and the president will end up having to talk about him. What’s better for Big Baller Brand?”

And who better to point this out other than Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and a minority stake holder in a plethora of business ventures. Safe to say Cuban is hip to LaVar and Trump’s tactics.

Shark Tank Mark GIF by ABC Network - Find & Share on GIPHY

I believe when it’s all set and done we will thank LaVar Ball for what he is doing for himself and moreso for his family. We can all agree that LaVar Ball can be a bit extra at times, part of me wants to believe that this is just who he is by nature.

And the other part believes that he is doing this to simply promote himself, his kids, and his brand. Which isn’t necessarily bad, in terms of brand awareness it’s a win/win either way. But my question to the people would be… Is his unapologetic and abrasive attitude beneficial or detrimental to his business in the long term ?

I’d say for the most part that he definitely benefits off the media. LaVar Ball is betting on himself and when you bet on yourself you’re willing to put it on all the line. You’re willing to challenge the status quo and challenge those who will take unsolicited credit for something that they may or may have not done. Allegedly. Which brings me to Trump.

Animated GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

Once again Trump has outdone himself, and i believe he has met his match. Trump is proving day in day out how insecure he truly is.

He wants the validation of the common people so bad that he is willing to take credit for something he may or may not have involvement in.

Did Trump play a part in the liberation of LiAngelo Ball and his fellow teammates? Maybe. Maybe not. Who knows?

Kanye West Idk GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

But the fact that Trump took his talents to Twitter to ask for public gratitude from LaVar Ball shows how much he needs that validation in order for his sack to drop, which is not at all surprising.

The president even went as far as to call LaVar a “poor man’s Don King” this morning on Twitter.

At this point Trump is in love with this reality show he and his heard of sheep have constructed, Trump is giving the media headlines, narrative, and sensation. Lavar Ball is aware of this and is not about to bend the knee to the powers that be.

Could this be the beginning of a long stand off between two ego driven parties? Or could this just be a huge roll out for a Trump vs. Lavar Ball at Wrestlemania 34?

CEO of Maker Media apologizes to woman tech designer he thought was a catfish

A tech CEO, Dale Dougherty, has apologized to YouTuber and developer, SexyCyborg, after claiming she was a fake who was trying to promote her boyfriend’s business.

Dougherty is the publisher of the technology magazine Maker Media, and accused Naomi Wu of not being who she said she was after her name was facing questioning on the internet.

Just a girl and her flamethrowing robot. From: https://youtu.be/6nlPZvDQdxo

A post shared by Naomi Wu (@reallysexycyborg) on

Wu, who has been operating out of China, has been active on her Reddit, Twitter, and YouTube accounts, mixing fashion and technology together to brand herself as the Sexy Cyborg.

She makes things such as this “Infinity Skirt,” going through a step by step process of creation.

Dougherty said in a since deleted Tweet:

“I am questioning who she really is. Naomi is a persona, not a real person. She is several or many people.”

But nah, SexyCyborg is really real.

Dale eventually apologized for his accusations, admitting he was wrong for doing so, and even invited Wu to speak at the Maker Faire, which brings makers and creators from all over the world together to connect and show their work.

https://twitter.com/dalepd/status/927712935987707904?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-15436845352846912326.ampproject.net%2F1508896929494%2Fframe.html

A lot of people are still pissed. Even though Wu has moved past it, Dale’s accusations were completely uncalled for.

Really makes you step back and think. Because Wu is a beautiful woman who was posting engaging tech content on her account, she was assumed to be doing it for someone else – specifically, a male.

And it’s not like Dougherty comes from a small company in the tech industry. Though males prominently dominate the technology sector, you’d think he’d be a little bit more open to the idea of a woman killing it.

While Wu has accepted his apology, many people are still pissed at Dale for his comments in the first place. They really were unneeded and uncalled for.

His comments were stupid, this was a lesson for Dale.

In a statement posted by Make, Dale seems to have certainly realized the impact of his words, offering to help Naomi with future endeavors to help her career outside of China, and even auditing his company’s diversity:

With permission from Naomi, we will feature Naomi and her work on the cover of the next issue of Make: along with a full-length story about her work

We will invite her and help her obtain a VISA to a USA Maker Faire in 2018, covering her travel and expenses.

We will be publishing a diversity audit of Make: as a company and our properties, and will be setting goals to drive progress on these issues.

We will be assembling advisory boards to work with our Maker Faire organizers to ensure our events are representative of our entire community. We will invite Naomi to be part of any advisory board for events in China.

Well, it’s certainly a step in the right direction!
