Are more African Americans falling in love with the great outdoors?

Now it’s not the right time to go out, but before this, were you a lover of the great outdoors? When things finally clear up, do you plan on going for a trip to a National Park, for example? Why is there a preconception that only certain people love to camp and we don’t?

Safety first

Many of us don’t feel the same level of safety when we are in the outdoors as others to which we add the intimidation anybody can feel when trying something new – even more so when your family or regular friends don’t feel like joining you so you’ll find yourself standing out even more in a new group of people that you don’t know.

As a result of this, there are many organizations that aim to help a safe space in which black people and nature can meet without the pressure felt from the aforementioned paragraph. They don’t exclude anyone, but they do focus on trying to create a black experience of the outdoors without making anyone feel marginalized.

Such activities can range from the simpler ones that involve going to a picnic somewhere nearby to hiking in spectacular areas. Most people that join these groups tend to return after they enjoyed the first experience. But you can also try it on your own or with some friends or the family.

You can even try even riskier things such as going out river rafting or why not go sail in a canoe? You can find a comparison made by fisherpants.com that will help you put things into perspective and decide which one of these activities makes you feel the most intrigued to try.

Why don’t we try the outdoors more?

In 2011 PBS sponsored a new documentary season named “Black Folk Don’t” in which they talk about stereotypes. Over the 23 episodes, they mention some of the common ones such as how we don’t like to travel, do yoga, listen to classical music, swim, or camp among the more serious ones as well (talking about suicide, doctor visits or politics).

In these episodes, they present these stereotypes and in the “Black Folk Don’t: Camp” episode they mostly rely on the examples of African Americans who don’t like the idea and only in the last part do they present some people who do like camping with the majority of them stating they only started doing it recently.

As somebody presented it, going camping is a sort of throwback to the older times, the more simple times which may work for white people, but it doesn’t sound too inviting to people of color. Put together history and present-day situations and we get a pretty clear idea of why we tend to stay away from the outdoors.

History is also the reason for many other stereotypes such as “we don’t like swimming” which is not a surprising one giving how before the Civil Rights Movement pools were segregated or forbidden for us. But this doesn’t mean we have to give up on so many activities when we can make them our own.

The more we go out, the more we see why others have been doing it for such a long period of time and why we can embrace it as well. Public space is public space for everybody so we don’t have to run from activities because we haven’t tried them before or because it’s “just something we don’t do”.

Are we doing it?

Looking at statistics it looks like African Americans have started to embrace the outdoors more and more as the number of people who go camping, hiking, canoeing, etc. grows from year to year. Sure, the numbers are still low, but they are encouraging to all of us who had to be the only POC in a new group, again.

While we can’t plan for our next trip now, we can think about it and after these months of social distancing, being in the outdoors will surely start sounding better. So, when the time comes, grab a tent, your backpack, and some cans, get your friends, and be ready for the great outdoors adventure that will make you want to come back for more.

In-Home Exercise: How to Workout During the Lockdown

As the lockdown to stop the spread of COVID-19 is enforced across the world, our habits had to change.

Schools, restaurants, and gyms were closed in order to protect us. If you are one of the people who miss their double bass pedals – using them is similar to doing exercises at the gym, sort of – don’t worry, you can still work out at home and get the best results.

Why is working out important?

There is probably no credible scientific paper out there that doesn’t mention how important working out is for your physical and mental health. This makes exercising even more salient as it will not only stop you from gaining weight but it can also help you stop developing anxiety or panic attacks as the lockdown is under effect.

When you are physically active, you are lowering the levels of cholesterol and blood pressure which, in turn, also reduces the risk of developing certain illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease. You’ll also have a better and larger muscle mass and help your bone density so you won’t suffer from sarcopenia or osteoporosis.

It seems that physical activity is also important in helping your immune system work properly because this way you can flush bacteria from your airways, raise the temperature of your body and the number of white blood cells, plus their circulation – all of these things are useful when it comes to fighting an infection.

What exercises can you do?

If you aren’t put in self-isolation so you can go out for a limited time for essentials, then you can jog or cycle around a bit in your area so you are keeping your body active. Be careful not to stray away too much from your home and to keep a distance from everybody you encounter during your exercise.

If you don’t want to risk going out or you can’t, that’s great, you’re doing what the doctors need you to do. But this doesn’t mean you have to become a couch potato or continue to be one. You can start a work from home routine that doesn’t even require that much equipment so you can start doing it anytime.

In case you already own something like a treadmill or an exercise bike, then you already know that you can work out from home easily and keep a fit body and mind. If you don’t have any such device, don’t worry, any exercise that can raise your heart rate is good for your health.

One exercise for which you won’t need any accessories or devices is to simply talk a brisk walk around the house or go up and down a pair of stairs. If you live in an apartment complex, you can do these exercises in the hallway but it’s not really recommended as you don’t know who was there moments before you.

If you want to keep the exercise to a minimum and more enjoyable activity, then the next time you talk on the phone, walk around the house instead of sitting down on the couch or bed. Dancing is one of the simplest ways you can keep fit – just play your favorite music and dance away!

You’ll need to have those dance breaks three times a day for about 15 minutes which is really not a lot (you’ll fit between 3 and 5 songs per workout). You can also try a TikTok dance challenge if you want to really make the best of it, and who knows, you may become the next viral sensation.

If you don’t have neighbors below you that complain about the noise all day, you can jump rope. If your old jump rope is long gone you can improve with some literal rope although you have to be more careful not to trip. Then again in order to make the rope act as a jumping rope, you’ll need to put in more effort so that’s a good thing.

Since there are many people in your situation, plenty of YouTubers have now created simple exercises you can do at home, by yourself, with no extra accessories needed or you can simply download an app and follow those instructions. Keep on pushing it!

Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant on Michael Jordan and ‘The Last Dance’

Everyone is talking about Michael Jordan again because ESPN released the first two episodes of ‘The Last Dance’, their documentary series on the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls last Sunday. Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, the two superstars of the Brooklyn Nets are among the players that have been influenced by Jordan throughout their careers. Both have had a lot to say about MJ.

When comparing Michael Jordan to current NBA superstars, two points are brought up. First, that defense was more physical in Michael Jordan’s era and the game was slower, which made it harder to score and then, that today’s athletes are better and that Jordan shot just 32.7 percent from beyond the arc in his career and the current NBA relies too much on 3-point shooting. Believe it or not, many “experts” think that Jordan would not thrive in today’s NBA.

Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant to return for playoffs? The delay to the NBA season could make Irving and Durant return. Irving and KD were both assumed out for the season but if the suspension because of COVID-19 concerns continues for too long, the team could consider taking a chance and letting Irving and Durant play once the season resumes.

The Nets are seventh in the Eastern Conference standings. Irving underwent a procedure on his right shoulder in late February. He had missed 26 games earlier in the season because of this same injury and he evaluated all options during his lengthy recovery period but coming back ended up being even more costly for the talented point guard.

Durant, who signed a four-year, $164 million deal with the Nets in the offseason, suffered an Achilles injury in Game 5 of the NBA Finals in June against the Raptors when he was still with the Warriors and he hasn’t made his Nets debut.

Irving was asked about the comparisons between Michael Jordan and LeBron James and this is what he told Hot 97 in 2018:

“All those comparisons are fun to talk about. It’s how intense it gets,” Irving said. “I hope that some individuals see, when they’re watching the games, just the appreciation for what’s happening. Like if someone is playing extremely well, and it’s just like comparisons… Shout out to my man [Boston head coach] Brad Stevens on this. He told me, ‘Comparison is the thief of joy.’ And that right there was one of the most profound things I’ve ever heard.”

He then shared his opinion on whether James had reached Jordan status by saying a simple, yet effective “nah.”

Durant recently talked to ESPN’s Jay Williams on “The Boardroom” and said:

“He can adapt his game to anything,” Durant explained. “He would fit in as the best player in the league. That’s what he would be. He would have more possessions to do more things. More space for M.J. to go to work. We’ll never know, but for sure he’s a masterful basketball player, and like we’ve been saying his skill level is unmatched.”

Will the NBA return this season somehow? Will they skip the rest of the regular season and go straight to the playoffs? Will the games be played on neutral courts without fans? No one has the answers to these questions right now and it’s even harder to tell if Irving and/or Durant would be willing to risk it all by playing earlier than expected without having as much recovery time as they probably should have.

One thing is certain though, the NBA Playoffs could be played around the date that the 2020-21 season was supposed to start and if Irving and Durant come back for them the Nets would be a very scary opponent.

Going back to MJ, Irving, Durant and many of us as kids tried to emulate Michael Jordan’s iconic “tongue wag” while playing basketball with friends but we never knew where it came from and why he started doing it. It turns out that Michael Jordan got the idea from his father, after watching him stick out his tongue while fixing things around the house. Intentionally or subconsciously he started doing the same while playing basketball.

You also might not know that he actually admired Magic Johnson. Jordan and Magic had a big rivalry on the court, especially in the 1991 NBA Finals when MJ and the Bulls beat Magic and the Lakers but Jordan’s childhood idol was Magic Johnson.

Always give back: These 5 lottery winners’ stories will inspire you

Is winning the lottery good or bad for you in the long run? Would you be one of those lottery winners that end up losing it all? Or would you use your winnings to change the world?

The good news is that there are many people who have had their dreams come true and made a difference for the better with their earnings. Read on to learn more about these winners’ stories.

Powerball Winnings Used to Fight Krabbe Disease

Paul and Sue Rosenau tragically lost their granddaughter, Makayla, to a rare, degenerative disease called Krabbe Disease in 2003. In 2008, five years to the day after the Rosenaus lost their granddaughter, they bought a Powerball ticket that ended up winning them $181.2 million.

Because Krabbe Disease doesn’t receive the amount of funding that many other disorders do, the Rosenaus founded The Legacy of Angels to help raise both awareness and critical funding for research. The couple serves on the board of directors for the organization.

A Cowboy Able to  Keep His Ranch Through Powerball Winnings

In 2009, Neal Wanless was a cowboy having a difficult time. Todd County, South Dakota, was one of the poorest areas of the country.

Wanless faced challenges that included:

  • Resorting to selling scrap metal to get cash
  • Being unable to make the necessary repairs
  • Having difficulty paying property taxes

On a hunch, Wanless decided to spend $5 playing Powerball. He used the birth dates from his family members to select his numbers.

This Powerball win was one of the biggest in history, more than resolving Wanless’ financial woes. Post-taxes, he ended up with $88.5 million.

Being able to keep his ranch and maintain it was a dream come true for this cowboy. He’s also committed to helping to give back to his community.

The Family That Worked Hard to Help Their City

Pearlie Mae Smith, a Trenton, NJ, mother of seven, raised all of her children to understand the value of giving back to their community. Volunteering in community gardens and soup kitchens made up a major part of their lives.

The family members all bought Powerball tickets that were worth a $429 million Powerball jackpot. All the family members split up the prize, with one of the daughters taking advantage of the winnings to expand her mentoring work.

In 2016, the lucky winners set up The Smith Family Foundation to help the people of Trenton. Their work includes:

  • Youth and family support
  • Education, including Christian education
  • Neighborhood development

A Janitor from the UK Takes Home 90 Million Euros

In some countries, online lotteries have been responsible for some of the biggest wins. The biggest online lottery win was €90 million at Lottoland, won by a 36-year-old janitor.

Christina won her jackpot two weeks after she first found the Lottoland website. Her mother helped her pick the numbers that would secure her win.

Since winning the lottery, Christina has quit her custodial job and will take a part in helping her mother to retire. Christina’s plans include traveling to the US, renting a camper, and driving across the country.

A Couple Who Has Given Away to Multiple Good Causes

In 2011, Collin and Christine Weir won €250 million. The Scottish couple set up the Weir Charitable Trust to give back to others in their community.

Some of the people they have helped include:

  • A child who needed a prosthetic limb
  • A young artist showing a lot of promise
  • A girl living with cerebral palsy

The couple also helped out a neighbor in need of housing by donating their home. Since their lottery winning, the couple has worked hard to change as many lives as possible.

Conclusion

Being able to stay anonymous in many places can help provide a sense of relief. Lottery winners can not only do a lot of good personally with their prizes, but they can positively impact those around them.

Even though playing the lottery is fun, think about whether you can afford to lose money from your tickets. Think of it as a form of harmless fun, rather than a serious way of making money.

How to Manage Stress by Decluttering at Home Amid an Ongoing Crisis

Offices are closed, restaurants and gyms are shuttered, and everyone is working from home. COVID-19 has paralyzed much of society in an unprecedented event that will require adjusting to a new reality before things improve.

During a crisis, it may be hard to focus on being productive, but there’s never been a better opportunity to check off those to-do list tasks that have been lingering on your phone for months.

That may include cleaning the house, working on a creative project, or whatever else you never had time for before. In order to make home cleaning easier and better, check out this guide from the unclutterer to find the best wet/dry vacuum cleaner for your needs.

Decluttering your home or workspace may even help take your mind off the persistent bombardment of push notifications covering everything from fiscal stimulus packages to global infection rates.

Decluttering Ignites a Chain Reaction for The Right Environment

While introverts may be basking in the recent change in society, the ongoing self-quarantine of many people is not as innocuous. In particular, entrepreneurs are faced with both problems and opportunities.

Meetings are going remote with Zoom, project management platforms are bustling, and teams are discovering new ways to function efficiently as digitally nimble startups. Your home office now plays a pivotal role in managing a business or staying financially afloat while the economy takes a huge hit.

The first step in managing all the distractions, especially if you have kids, can be simply cleaning your home office. Cleaning induces feelings of calm, reduced stress, and generally improves mental health. Some research even indicates that people with cleaner homes enjoy physical health benefits as well.

The point of cleaning during a stressful period of uncontrollable external events is to minimize distractions and help harness your focus. Ideally, turning off your push notifications will help reduce distractions too.

For many people, focusing on work can help them block out the stress of watching the news. And if you’re not familiar or comfortable working from home, you may soon realize that the next step in remaining productive is being aware of how your environment impacts your work.

For example, companies like Autonomous have been leading the way in providing entrepreneurs, small businesses, and startups with the type of modern, ergonomic office furniture they need to tackle the challenges of working from home head-on.

Don’t want to sit all day in an uncomfortable home office chair that you didn’t expect to be sitting in for weeks?

Autonomous has standing desks and ergonomic chairs that reduce discomfort. As a bonus, many of Autonomous’ products are crafted with a minimalist aesthetic to encourage open office spaces and help manage cluttered work environments. Autonomous even caters to remote workers with entire packages specifically crafted for them.

The company is also doing its part to combat the COVID-19 crisis, taking the lead among small businesses by allocating a percentage of its revenue to fund the shortage of medical supplies like masks and ventilators that hospitals need right now.

With supplies short and governments grappling with responses, that’s a meaningful gesture that many other businesses should try to emulate.

Managing Professional Stress in a Crisis

The importance of your work environment should not be taken lightly, as it may make or break many businesses running on thin margins or cash-flow right now.

For many small business owners, independent contractors, and other professionals, the ongoing situation has put them in a bind. Stuck at home, they have to navigate an economy where retail stores are generally shut down, supply chains are in flux, and corporations are cutting costs.

For example, if you run an e-commerce business, the current situation is daunting. Early numbers from China indicate a 15 percent drop in manufacturing over the previous three months. China is the largest manufacturer in the world, which means e-commerce operators are experiencing a supply shortfall.

Paired with reduced demand as people are more worried about paying bills than buying consumer products, maneuvering the e-commerce market carefully is necessary to avoid bankruptcy.

The term stressful does not do the situation justice. That’s why managing the things you can control effectively is critical.

Nobody can wave a magic wand and fix the supply chain problem. But entrepreneurs and business owners can reduce stress by making sure they are focusing on what needs to be accomplished. Keeping your home office environment clean and comfortable is one of the little things that can go a long way.

Block out the noise, and keep yourself occupied with productive activities rather than sitting on the couch and watching talking heads.

The uncertainty surrounding the unprecedented situation we face is stressful enough. There are small adjustments that people can make to reduce the stress burden, but ultimately, many of the developments are out of their hands.

The sun will still rise tomorrow, so take inventory of what you can change at home in front of you, and maybe get a jump start on your spring cleaning.

Reduced stress and a boost in professional confidence will follow, even amid a crisis.

5 Ways To Make Your Body Feel Better During Quarantine

Our mind and body have noticed a big change since quarantine, meaning we need to take better care of ourselves than ever before to ensure a healthy body and mindset.

Whilst it can be easy to lose all sense of routine, taking this time to better ourselves will leave us coming out the other side healthier, happier and more appreciative of the world.

Look After Your Skin

Whilst in quarantine, this is the perfect time to get a good skincare routine going. Now is the time to get educated on skincare and find products that you can continue to use after quarantine is done.

Looking after the skin and having a natural, healthy glow can make us feel more confident in our own skin. Exfoliate, cleanse and use a CoQ10 toner before applying serum and moisturizing.

Exercise

Staying indoors can make it harder to find the motivation to exercise, but don’t let this hold you back. Exercising will make your body feel better, and now is a better time than ever to get your body in the shape you want it to be.

There are no more excuses – you have enough time to do anything you want, so whether this is starting yoga or doing home exercise routines, quarantine is offering you the opportunity to get fitter and healthier.

If you have a regular routine at home and incorporate exercise into this, you will notice your body feeling better and your mind feeling more active.

Keep a Routine

It is all too easy to lose all sense of a routine when you aren’t leaving the house or working. If you do work from home, this can make maintaining a routine easier. If you don’t, now is the time to make a routine that works for you.

Sleep just as you usually would and don’t stick to late nights and late mornings. This will make you feel lazier and you will lose more daylight. Take the opportunity to exercise outside once a day if you can.

If not, try to get out in your garden if you have one. Have three meals a day and keep yourself busy with new hobbies and skills. There are so many options whilst in quarantine, whether working on your own business, a new art project, learning a new language or discovering new books.

Chef Up More

Quarantine is making it easier than ever to turn to take-out and eating unhealthily. Whilst it is okay to treat yourself occasionally, and getting a takeaway with the whole family can be the closest thing to going to a restaurant, try not to rely on this too much.

Cooking will allow you to make healthier, more organic meals which are better for the whole family. Take this time to really get to know your ingredients and make meals you’ve never made before.

With a couple of weeks in quarantine, you can improve your cooking skills massively.

Check-in On Your Mental Health

If your mental health isn’t great, your body isn’t going to feel amazing either. Quarantine is going to affect even those with the best mental wellbeing, as we can’t do what we want or see our loved ones.

Whilst this is a measure that must be obeyed, it doesn’t make it any easier. Check-in on how you are feeling and be honest with yourself. Talk to your loved ones and practice self-care routines on those days you are struggling with your mental health.

Follow this guide to help you feel better in your mental health, as well as your physical health. Care for your skin, keep a routine, exercise, cook healthy meals, and take care of your mental health to make your body feel better in quarantine.

How Growpacker is putting a ding in the cannabinoid universe

The cannabinoid industry is undoubtedly a booming one, but despite all the buzz surrounding the industry worldwide, there are some unique hurdles that are faced by entrepreneurs looking to break into the scene.

Outside of this industry, there are traditional steps and procedures that are undergone, and tedious in their own right. In the cannabinoid space, however, there are greater regulatory hoops to jump through, and every step must be triple-checked.

“These obstacles mainly stem from legalization and regulation concerns,” says Asaf Ofer, the COO and Co-Founder of the canni-investment firm and holding company, Pollen Group.

“This is what makes educating the consumer more important than ever. Now is the time for the general public to become more educated on the countless ways cannabinoids benefit humans and pets alike. The stigma must be broken, and it is up to members of the industry to collectively strive towards this goal to make their brands stand out.”

Image result for think weed gif

The cannabinoid industry is highly scrutinized, and numerous regulations make it illegal to market cannabinoids as having health benefits.

Not only does that make educating the public difficult, but it also makes it that much trickier for cannabinoid-related businesses to get off the ground.

According to Business News Daily, “In today’s day and age, if someone is looking to sell a product, the normal avenues are Amazon, eBay, Alibaba or paid ads on social media… In this industry, it’s way, way, way different. You can’t do any of those things.”

It takes a lot of creativity and know-how for a cannabinoid business to become successful, gain a competitive advantage, and develop staying power.

“Major considerations must be kept in mind for entrepreneurs looking to break into this space,” says Stephen Boyd, the CEO of Growpacker, a Canadian contract manufacturer of THC- and CBD-infused edibles and beverages.

“The fluctuating regulatory landscape makes banks and lenders wary to do business with cannabinoid businesses. It also gives insurance companies the opportunity to keep prices elevated. All this aside, opportunities can otherwise be vast, so long as it’s being approached correctly from all angles.”

Boyd speaks from experience, as Growpacker has gained quite the reputation for being the backbone of the industry.

Growpacker focuses on expanding the ancillary side of the California cannabis industry by offering local and international brands key services such as formulation, manufacturing, co-packing, and distribution of THC and CBD infused beverages and edibles.

In addition to all this and its core co-packing business, Growpacker also operates an incubator and brand accelerator program that fast tracks emerging cannabis brands and ancillary companies in California.

And if that isn’t enough, the company also announced the launch of its Investment Accelerator Program, designed to partake in early-stage financing rounds of key supply chain and technology partners focused on the cannabis sector.

According to a Growpacker press release:

  • The Brand Incubator allows brands to fast track their market development in California and become compliant with current regulations.
  • The Brand Accelerator allows brands to exchange equity for Growpacker services which include, but are not limited to, manufacturing and formulation services, key market development resources and access to preferred pricing and benefits with Growpacker’s network of strategic partners.
  • The Investment Accelerator designed to invest in strategic cannabis companies focused on and beneficial to Growpacker’s vertically integrated supply chain strategy. Their first investment has already been made.

With all their bases expertly covered, Growpacker is highly respected for its impact and authority. “Many companies view us and the services we provide influencing active ingredient suppliers, brands and retail distribution partners as the backbone of the industry…” said Boyd.

He continued, “They want to be synergistically aligned with us and in many cases that means an investment from our Accelerator.”

Now, of course, not everyone can follow suit, much less go from zero to hero overnight, but a journey of a thousand miles does begin with one step.

In the cannabinoid industry, that first step is ensuring that the business concept is legally viable and truly a unique solution that can withstand the dynamics of the space, all while following the rules.

One wouldn’t want to fall into the legal drama that’s currently in the vaping industry, due to carelessness and oversights.

By working hard, working smart, and always being on the hunt for new ways to expand and/or pivot, it is possible for almost any entrepreneur to be as much of a powerhouse as Growpacker.

Kobe Bryant’s most iconic quotes that show the true meaning of Mamba Mentality

Kobe Bryant was always more than an athlete.

He was a husband, girl dad, son, brother, teammate, and still so much more. Yet what separated Kobe from so many of his contemporaries is that he represented an idea; that being that hardest worker in the gym isn’t enough.

You need to want it more than anybody else. You need to have a passion for being the greatest and sometimes that might include sleepless nights.

Kobe showed us that despite having all of the God-given talent in the world, he’d grind like the last man on the bench to be the very best he could be.

This obsessive, compulsive, and unwavering drive to be the greatest could only be defined by one term: Mamba Mentality.

Now, this was something that Kobe had throughout his whole career. It was the reason why he left high school at 18 to pursue his dream in the NBA. It was the reason he got into so many disputes with Shaq during their time playing together.

And it’s the reason he walked away as a five-time world champion with the title of greatest Laker of all time. Kobe’s untimely and tragic death may be something way never get over. But the way he inspired us through his words and his actions will live with us forever.

No matter what walk of life you come from, what your day job is, or what you aspire to be, the Mamba Mentality can apply to you. It’s having that heart to never quit and to rise to the challenge because what you’re chasing is something you love.

It’s stepping out of your comfort zone to pursue something new and taking on the risk because you believe in yourself. It’s becoming the best and still not being complacent with the results.

Kobe inspired not only inspired a generation but many generations to come. Through his mindset we can pay homage to one of the greats by adopting his mentality and seizing every day like it’s game seven.

Celebrities Who Use CBD Oil For Their Health

Due to the effectiveness of cannabidiol or CBD oil when it comes to managing pain and stress, even celebrities are proud to say that they are users of CBD.

Cannabidiol is used for many common medical conditions. CBD is one of over 100 chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant or marijuana Cannabis sativa (cannabinoids).

CBD products differ in properties and applications. The best of which is cbd oil for pain from vapingdaily. Cannabis has psychoactive cannabinoids like tetrahydrocannabinol or (THC). However, unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive.

Celebrities also need to unwind and relax, and they deserve to also gain from the health and wellness benefits of CBD.

Check out these celebrities who use CBD oil to maintain their health, so you’ll be more convinced that CBD really works.

Michael J. Fox

At the very young age of 29, Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991. His condition was disclosed to the public in 1998. In 2000, he took a break from acting due to the worsening symptoms.

He discovered CBD and has since been a keen user to treat the side effects and complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Here are the good-to-know facts about Michael J. Fox’s quest to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease:

While many people use CBD oil to conquer stress, Many Moore uses it to relieve heel pain brought about by wearing high-heeled shoes.

It’s die-hard to be an actress or a famous woman because you’ve got to wear high heels every time—and Mandy Moore is not an exception.

That’s why when she discovered the pain relief brought about by CBD, she never stopped using it.

She narrated that she had experienced so much pain wearing high heels before that she described it as similar to walking on glass.

Such pain in the feet would really force anyone to leave the night early and choose to stay in bed all night to soothe the discomfort.

Mandy Moore uses a CBD-injected moisturizer with a pleasant fragrance that combines orange, evergreen, and bergamot.

Kim Kardashian

Like all other working moms, Kim Kardashian also undergoes everyday stress, and one of her stress-relievers is CBD.

She was first obsessed with CBD topicals because she was amazed by the healing capabilities of cannabidiol when it comes to stress and pain management.

She had even hosted a CBD-themed baby shower for her fourth baby, and all guests were welcomed and treated to CBD relaxation stations, such as CBD bath salt blends and CBD-infused yoga sessions.

This relaxing theme is unique, and Kim truly deserves it after all the busy instances in her life.

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer has fallen in love with CBD. America’s favorite Friends star stated in one interview that cannabidiol helps her deal with pain, stress, and anxiety. CBD makes her feel all the positive effects of cannabis without the feeling of being “high”.

CBD is a natural healer because it has antioxidant, analgesic or anti-pain and anti-inflammatory properties. And Jennifer Aniston, like many people who are using CBD, knows that they can hardly resist it because of its health benefits.

Olivia Wilde

After performing, Olivia loves to use CBD cream to relieve soreness and pain, most especially in Broadway.

She narrated that her body was in total physical pain during a straight six-month Broadway performance, and CBD gave her the relaxation she needed. From that moment, she avoided using high doses of painkillers.

Conclusion

CBD oil captures almost everybody’s attention, including celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Mandy Moore, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Its therapeutic properties have transformed these people’s lives, as well as improving the health condition of millions around the world.

It just goes to show that CBD transcends all walks of life, and can be used by anyone, even celebrities.

How To Make Sure Your Creative Business Is Set Up To Win

Thinking about starting your own creative business can be overwhelming. There are seemingly endless things to consider and many problems to overcome – and at the end of it all, there is no guarantee of success.

However, you already know there is plenty of work out there in the creative industries, like writing, graphic design, advertising and communications, so you’ve just got to make sure you give your fledgling business the start it needs to grow.

Here are some of the basics you must consider as part of your research. Read up as much as you can and speak to others who have been there and done it. Many entrepreneurs, like the brains behind The New Blue Collar brand, are happy to pass on advice and encouragement.

Market Research and Competitor Analysis

By fully researching your business idea, you can get a sense of what demand there will be, the market size, and how many others are already operating in your space.

Then, once you know who those competitors are, study what they do, and at what price.
With all this information in place, you can begin to work out what your competitive advantages will be. Perhaps it’s a way of working, introductory pricing or a unique twist on a service.

Creating Your Business Plan

Armed with your research, you must create the most important document your business will ever produce – the business plan. Use it to formulate what services you’ll offer, who your clients will be and how you’ll find them, your pricing structure and your growth strategy.

You will need to be brutally honest with yourself and come up with some accurate numbers.

Once you are up and running, you should constantly refer to your business plan to check if you are on track. The plan should be a “live” document that you should update as time moves on and as new opportunities and results emerge.

Remember, the more detailed your plan, the more precisely you can measure your progress.

If you need help piecing a plan together, you can source some easy online versions, or seek business plan advice from the Small Business Administration.

Putting Your Funding in Place

It’s likely that fo,r most creative start-ups, initial expenses like computer equipment will be low. Many people start only with a laptop and a cell phone.

But that’s only part of the financial planning. You need to pay yourself a salary to cover your bills and taxes, and your working capital is how much money you need in place to do this while you build up some clients.

It is essential you don’t cut corners with your estimates – be accurate and fair, especially if you are seeking funding help from a bank or some other financial institution. They want to see a detailed business plan and full costings – and only by seeing this will they be confident you know what you’re talking about.

Where Will You Work?

One of the biggest fixed costs for any business is its premises. For most people starting up on their own, they will be working from home, at least to begin with.

But if you plan to launch with a small team, or working from home simply does not suit you, then you will need to invest in office premises. This can be prohibitively expensive.

In Chicago, for example, office space costs more than $50 a square foot each month.
One recommendation is to look into shared office space, which is cheaper and has many advantages, including collaboration, meeting potential new clients, fully-managed office services, seminars and more. This piece explains why the use of coworking office space is on the rise.

Staff

Even if you do not start with any other staff members, hopefully you will grow successfully and soon be looking to hire.

Building a team will be a critical phase of your start-up since your business can only be as good as its employees. Plan for the roles you expect to need, creating a full job description that will help you or an agency find the perfect candidate.
Keep on Top of Your Figures
