Chance the Rapper becomes youngest artist to win BET Humanitarian Award

This year’s BET Awards proved to be one hell of a spectacle. Not only were there amazing performances, but there were also amazing beefs.

Migos almost rockin’ the shit out of Joe Budden had me dead. Meek Mill even managed to pop up in the news after his crew jumped Nicki Minaj’s ex-boyfriend, Safaree Samuels, outside of DJ Khaled’s pre-show party.

But, the biggest highlight of them all was Chance the Rapper being the youngest person to ever receive the Humanitarian Award. He received the award for using his craft to uplift his community.

It was a big night for the Chitown rapper as he took home Best New Artist earlier in the night and was also nominated for Album of the Year, Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, and Best Collaboration.

At only 24-years-old, Chance has managed to do so much for Chicago. He started Social Works, an NPO, that focuses on empowering the youth of Chicago using the arts, education, and civic engagement.

Chance has managed to raise $2 million through his NPO for public schools in Chicago. Plus, he donated $1 million of his own earnings to support the cause.

Past winners of the award include Quincy Jones, Muhammad Ali, and Dwayne Wade. Before accepting an award, Chance received an intro from Chairman and CEO of BET, Debra L. Lee.

Nothing but kind words from Lee,

“Tonight we honor a young man from the Chi and honestly I love everything about him. He created his own path to the charts and took that same creativity to help children. He’s not afraid to speak out for people who can’t speak for themselves.”

Michelle Obama also pulled up with a surprise introduction and had some powerful things to say about Chance.

https://twitter.com/therealwill17/status/879173126084579328

Chance took the BET Awards Show stage gracing viewers with an acceptance speech that challenged the Chicago public school systems, judges, and the criminal justice system to make some drastic changes.

The Coloring Book artist also thanked God, Black people, and his mama, who was in attendance.

Didn’t get a chance to see Chance’s empowering speech? Check it out and let us know if you were inspired.

‘Black History’: A$AP Bari debuts first VLONE hood fashion show in Paris

A$AP Bari is making waves in the fashion industry.

Bari’s streetwear brand, VLONE, live streamed its first fashion show today exclusively on Tidal. The runway show took place last night during Paris Men’s Fashion Week.

Definitely a huge milestone for the A$AP Mob member. His decision to showcase the street wear Spring/Summer 2018 Collection was more than simple promotion. His mission was to inspire the youth and those who look up to him and his brand.

In an interview with WWD earlier this month, Bari spoke on his mission, he said,

“I wanted to show in Paris to see if I could complete the mission I’m going for…

“I’m trying to show kids that you can do anything. I’m not a kid that went to fashion school. I’m not a kid that went to college and studied fashion. I’m a kid that grew up in fashion and learned it from a life experience.”

The show debuted his first full line collection, entitled Black History.

https://twitter.com/TOASTOTHEGOD/status/874828811652784130

The collection included lots of leather, straps, camouflage, and denim. Models strutted around a transparent maze-like runway design wearing denim jackets bearing the word “Friends” sewn on the front with huge “V’s” on the back.

Ominous trap music played while models displayed shirts bearing the phrase “Real Men Wear Black.”

Another huge bonus from streaming the show, Bari debuted new colorways of the Vlone & Nike Air Force 1 highs, including black/blue, black/yellow, and black/yellow/orange.

8 Action Bronson moments that proves he’s the braziest performer in rap

Come at Action the wrong way while he’s performing and get beat the fuck up. Try to stop him from smoking his weed on stage and he’ll square up with the security you call.

Leave a golf cart unmanned and he’ll hijack that shit. If he needs to head to the bathroom during a set he’ll find a portapotty to use – while still performing.

Action Bronson will stop at nothing when it comes to giving his fans an epic show. Shit, he’ll even put you in a Titus O’Neil torture rack if he fucks with you.

For those who don’t know what a torture rack is, this is what Action will do to you, if you ask politely

In other news, the Queens rapper and Fuck That’s Delicious TV show host promised to drop his album today, Blue Chips 7000.

Last month during his performance at the Rolling Loud festival, Bronson took a moment to update his fans on the project.

“It’s been a minute,” he said. “I’ve been on this motherfuckin’ run, man. Fuck That’s Delicious. All this television shit. But I don’t give a fuck about that no more. Blue Chips 7000 is coming out in a month.”

“I don’t give a fuck if I have to leak it myself. I don’t give a flying fuck,” he added, suggesting that the latest installment to his Blue Chips series didn’t come as quickly as many fans had hoped.

Peep…

I don’t give a fuck if I have to leak it myself? I’m concerned that Action is possibly having some internal issues with Warner Bros. on releasing the project.

The announcement at the Rolling Loud festival came after he tweeted a month earlier that he was putting the finishing touches on Blue Chips 7000.

So where the fuck is Blue Chips 7000? Is Warner Bros. halting the release of a masterpiece? Let my mans Action Bronson free you scum bags. The project is ready.

In an interview with Zane Lowe of Beats 1 Radio earlier this month, Action hinted to fans again that Blue Chips 7000 would be released on time.

It seems like we aren’t the only one’s eagerly waiting on Action Bronson. Fans are taking to Twitter questioning the delay.

https://twitter.com/dammitderek_/status/878115193477251074

Whatever the situation is the people need Blue Chips 7000. Action, we hear you brother and we know you want us to hear this album.

Diddy holds screening for new film at LA home, hip-hop royalty pulls up

Last night at his LA Mansion, Diddy held a screening of his new film Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story.

The film is due to make its world premiere June 25th on Apple Music.

While prepping for the premiere Diddy definitely caught a vibe

https://twitter.com/diddy/status/877711360062136320

A grip of celebrities came through to support the film. Madonna, Snoop, Lil’ Kim, Lana Del Rey, Ray J, French Montana, and Lil’ Yachty were just a handful of the guests at Diddy’s Holmby Hills mansion. The after party was definitely lit af.

Nipsey Hussle, Dj Khaled, and Belly pulled up …

So did Joey Bada$$, King Los, and Wiz Khalifa

A$AP Ferg was most definitely in the building

https://www.instagram.com/p/BVoexQtDcbo/?taken-by=diddy&hl=en

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been at the top of the game for close to three decades. The film, directed by Daniel Kaufman, will cover the mogul’s legacy. Viewers will get an inside look into the inspirational steps it took to create Diddy’s record label, Bad Boy Records.

The film will also offer an in-depth look at the two-night anniversary show that took place last May at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. The extravaganza was in honor of the late great, The Notorious B.I.G.

I can’t even imagine how inspirational the movie is. On Beats 1 Radio, Diddy recently sat down with Zane Lowe and discussed what it takes to create a hit record, his upbringing, and embracing success.

Check out what Diddy had to say when Lowe asked him about embracing success,

I like to compare it to sports, wanting to win that chip like every year and move the culture forward, and I feel like that between me and the whole Bad Boy family that we’ve had a big part in moving the culture forward that really runs the world now …

The movie shows you what life is about. Life isn’t an easy road. There’s been embracing the success but with success has come tragedy, has come death, has come dark times. This movie is about making it through all of that and still being a family, still being a man and having the energy after all of that to still be a leader …

The film is getting great reviews. Travis Scott, producer DJ Khaled, and actor Tyrese had great things to say after watching the epic flick.

Travis called it the entertainment Bible …

Khaled gave Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story his blessing …

And TMZ caught up with Tyrese after watching the film, and he said P.Diddy “gave me permission to be great.”

Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story makes its global premiere June 25 on Apple Music. Check out the trailer below.

Young Thug’s new album might’ve just started the gangsta folk genre

Beautiful Thugger Girls might be one of the most experimental hip-hop albums to come out this year. Young Thug has pushed rap to a new level, combining funky guitar riffs, trap bass and snares, and trippy vocals.

Even though this is Young Thug’s first official studio album (whatever that means nowadays), Beautiful Thugger Girls is the 17th (!) project he’s released.

I didn’t really know what to expect as Young Thug always comes through with the surprises. His style is like if someone merged the vocals of the “I Feel Like Dying” version of Lil Wayne (only that song) and an extraterrestrial being from the hood of Mars.

The album debuted on June 16 and I’ve been playing it over and over, trying to understand how this kind of music was created. This album might encompass a pivotal era for hip-hop and rap.

On Beautiful Thugger Girls, Thug raps/sings over a number of melodic beats with light Nashville-sounding guitar riffs behind a hard bass. From the beginning, Thugger sets the vibe for the whole album on “Family Don’t Matter.”

The verse that set it off for me:

Bagged a bad bitch, I got a foreign son
Tommy gun, found a real Tommy gun
I dropped a milly on my chain like I know Barry Bonds
And I got a head full of hair like I’m from Amazon, uhh
Glaze that ass like a candle honey, uhh
Ferragamo shower shoes for me, uhh
Lightbulb, neck got jewels on it, uhh
Like an ol’ school I gots a pooled on it, huh
Satan, abracadabra
Abracadabra, kill all you bastards
I wanna wrassle
The bread ambassador
No nothin’ else matter to him
I’m ballin’ like Patrick Ewing

The second song “Tomorrow Til’ Infinity” killed me from the intro. Thugger calls himself the black Christian Grey, which is boss af.

Peep …

(Hope I see you, tomorrow
I’m tryna see you, tomorrow)
Yeah, I’m the black Christian Grey, you know what I’m sayin’?
(I wanna be you, tomorrow)
I got fifty shades of baes with me, fifty different bitches

The third track, “She Wanna Party” is a straight up saucy boy anthem. I can definitely see myself holding a drink in the air to this one. I might have to cop a bottle of Ace just so I can bask in the glory of this song.

Following the saucy anthem is “Daddy’s Birthday.” Young Thug actually previewed the song on social media a month before dropping Beautiful Thugger Girls.

https://twitter.com/RapHubDaily/status/870324267182944256

The final version is epic. “Daddy’s Birthday” is very lyrical and Young Thug added some ad-libs that make the listener feel like they are really riding around with him in his V12. Peep this excerpt from the first verse:

Bae I’m flexing, ex textin’
Brand new Rari, Smith and Wesson
Made myself a balla, want my credit, yuh
Speaking of credit, Big Hoppa owe me, I got credit, yuh
Vrrrm, V12, y’all ain’t ready at all
Trapping P’s, I’m like “hurry up and buy”
Extra Draco for my pops, ’cause his birthday 4th of July
I’m so busy it’s making me feel like I’m in and out my kids’ lives

One song that might break your speakers and put you in cardiac arrest is “Get High” featuring legendary rapper Snoop Dogg and Chitown’s Lil’ Durk.

The very unlikely feature from Snoop Dogg had me shocked. Back in 2014 on an episode of his GGN talk show with 50 Cent, the California rapper wasn’t too open about this new style of rap that has surfaced.

Guess Snoop had a change of mind.

Not going to front this song is fire af.

Besides the Snoop, Lil’ Durk, Millie Go Lightly, and Gunna features, Young Thug, also collaborated with Future on “Relationship” and Jacquees on “For Y’all.”

A very collaborative album indeed but such a unique sound.

Beautiful Thugger Girls is a must hear. Check out the full album for yourself below.

Raury protests during Dolce & Gabbana men’s fashion show in Milan

Alternative rapper Raury protested Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring-Summer ’18 runway show this past Saturday at Men’s Fashion Week in Milan.

For the second season in a row, the global fashion brand brought in millennial influencers to wear their clothes down the runway.

Raury’s protest comes as a reaction to the fashion giant’s whimsical attempt at irony, dubbing their campaign “Boycott Dolce & Gabbana.” This is not the first time the Italian house has dealt with controversy.

Back in 2015 the openly gay fashion legends, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, who are each worth $1.65 billion, came out against the use of surrogate mothers.

The fashion power duo told Panorama, an Italian weekly magazine, that there is a need of “a mother and a father,” and “no chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed,”

Elton John who has two IVF children from a surrogate mother in the United States took to Instagram and called for a boycott of the Italian designers.

https://www.instagram.com/p/0PJUURgGUI/?taken-by=eltonjohn&hl=en

Dolce & Gabbana received backlash again after proudly dressing Melania Trump. The “Boycott Dolce & Gabbana” campaign was created as a response to the criticism.

D&G created t-shirts bearing the slogan and produced a commercial featuring young people protesting the brand.

In regards to this being a serious boycott, Domenico Dolce toldVogue before the Spring-Summer ’18 runway show,

“It’s irony! A joke! People use heavy words very easily these days. There is too much aggression.”

Sick campaign, bros…

https://www.instagram.com/p/BVF5vkDFdIR/?taken-by=dolcegabbana&hl=en

According to a recent interview with GQ, Raury was unaware of the “Boycott Dolce & Gabbana” campaign:

“When I came out to Milan for my first time walking on a fashion runway, ever, I was excited. I’m a stylish-ass young kid, but I don’t know everything about fashion. I knew nothing about the T-shirt until I was here. I had already agreed to walk for them. [The day before the show,] I Googled ‘Dolce & Gabbana’ so that I could know who was who when I finally met them. I didn’t want to be disrespectful to either one of them by calling them the wrong name. When I typed up their names, the first thing I saw was a headline on Fortune.com, ‘Dolce & Gabbana Is Trolling Melania Trump Critics with This $245 T-shirt.'”

During the finale of the show, Raury peeled off his D&G bomber and hoodie and revealed a chest with scribbled messages.

Why exactly did Raury do this? In the interview with GQ he said,

“The ‘Boycott Dolce & Gabbana’ T-shirt they created completely makes a mockery of what ‘boycotting’ is. Boycotting is the people’s voice. A protest is the people’s voice. It has power. It changes things.”

His chest bore the words – PROTEST and DG GIVE ME FREEDOM and I AM NOT YOUR SCAPEGOAT.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BVivJHwlz4Z/?taken-by=raury&hl=en

After boycotting, Raury made a run for the door, only to be stopped by security. According to the GQ interview, the ATL rapper said,

“I made a beeline to the exit and a security guard wrapped me up. I juked his dumb ass but got stopped at the door. I kept saying, ‘Don’t touch me. Don’t touch me. The only person I will talk to is my manager, Che.’ Che brought me my clothes—I took off all of the Dolce & Gabbana clothes I was wearing and tried to leave. They tried to stop us. They were trying to keep me in there. Why? I’m not stealing anything from you guys, you have everything you gave me. But they had, like, a bar of security in front of the door. I had to run, like, 300 feet up and away from them.”

Peep security ruffing up Raury

Good shit Raury! Major companies capitalizing on our oppression and poking fun at one of the only ways for the youth and minorities to use our voices and affect change is definitely not a part of the kulture.

New ‘Get Me Roger Stone’ doc shows the fuckboy behind President Trump

Roger Stone might as well be the father of Satan. On May 12, Netflix premiered a documentary about the republican political consultant, lobbyist, and strategist.

Get Me Roger Stone, written and directed by Dylan Bank, Daniel DiMauro, and Morgan Pehmegives us a look into the dark and demented mind of a man described as someone “who has no soul.”

Stone has his mentor, Richard Nixon, tatted on his back. He idolizes a political criminal.

The Republican peacock is known for persuading his clients to use the most poisonous possible talking points, being a master manipulator, and creating the modern day sleaze ball lobbyist.

Peep his ink

https://www.instagram.com/p/mqp7nSFWSF/?taken-by=rogerjstonejr&hl=en

The documentary maps the road to his biggest political accomplishment – getting Trump in the White House. Even though the Trump presidency shocked the world, Stone had been plotting it for years. He created Donald Trump as a political figure.

He even published a book back in January, The Making of the President 2016: How Donald Trump Orchestrated a Revolution.

According to Tucker Carlson, commentator on Fox News,

“Whereas the rest of us looked at Trump and saw someone who was impossibly vulgar an impolite, Roger looked at him and said, ‘You know this is someone who voter’s might like.'”

He’s been fuckin’ with Trumpito from the very beginning

https://www.instagram.com/p/BOHz6bXlw1w/?taken-by=rogerjstonejr&hl=en

Stone has had 40-year career as a strategist. How did the agent provocateur manage to stay in the game for this long?

Let’s peep his legacy.

Stone dropped out of college to work for Richard Nixon’s Campaign to re-elect the President

https://www.instagram.com/p/q4yY9HlWXX/?taken-by=rogerjstonejr&hl=en

After Nixon resigned, Stone was hired to work for the Bob Dole Campaign where he was fired for being a “Dirty Trickster.” Ronald Reagan then hired him to work for his campaign in 76′.

https://www.instagram.com/p/x_-TBGFWT-/

At the age of 25 Stone became national chairman of the Young Republicans.

https://www.instagram.com/p/xVvOP-lWdO/?taken-by=rogerjstonejr&hl=en

In 1980, Stone paired up with Charlie Black and Paul Manafort, to form Black, Manafort, and Stone, a political consulting firm, said to be responsible for the instrumental success of Ronald Reagan’s 1984 campaign

https://www.instagram.com/p/BS3fsGplS5N/

Skipping ahead to 2000, Stone served as campaign manager of Donald Trump’s aborted campaign for president in the Reform Party primary

https://www.instagram.com/p/BNxAEHQFhqF/?taken-by=rogerjstonejr&hl=en

Roger Stone has also been accused of working with Al Sharpton during the 2004 presidential campaign just to undermine the Democratic Party’s chances of winning the election.

This guy literally gives zero fucks!

According to a New York Times article back in 2007, Stone was forced to resign by Joseph Bruno, the Majority Leader of the New York State Senate, after allegations that Stone had left a nasty voicemail threatening Bernard Spitzer, the father of Eliot Spitzer.

The expletive laced message was left on the elder Spitzer’s answering machine in which Stone threatened to prosecute the elderly man if he did not implicate his son in wrongdoing.

Bernard Spitzer hired a private detective agency that traced the call to Roger Stone’s wife’s phone. Roger Stone denied leaving the message, despite the fact that his voice was recognized, claiming he was at a movie that was not even screened that night.

One of Roger’s rules:

“Admit nothing, deny everything, launch counterattack.”

Stone is the definition of a political pit bull and will stop at nothing to undermine his rivals. In January 2008, Stone founded Citizens United Not Timid, an anti-Hillary Clinton 527 group.

Seven years down the line Stone co-authored The Clintons’ War on Women, focusing on Bill Clinton’s sexual misconduct allegations

https://www.instagram.com/p/9AIhqMFWSz/

In Get Me Roger Stone, Jeffrey Toobin, writer for the New Yorker , described Stone as,

“The sinister Forrest Gump of American politics. He’s not just this simple minded guy but this Machiavellian almost crazy guy…”

After watching the doc I can completely agree that Roger Stone is undeniably on one…

https://www.instagram.com/p/BDFS8AIFWae/

He’s straight out the GOP, son!

After a 7 month hiatus, Father returns with wild visuals for ‘Hands’

Father just dropped the dope visuals for his hit single “Hands.” It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from or seen the ATL rapper.

The video dropped four months after he released the song.

Before premiering the song, Father took a seven-month hiatus.

Even though he took a half year break, do not mistake his quietness for fuckery, Father was touring heavily throughout 2016 and 2017. Father also has a list of hit singles and is the the biggest act of alternative Atlanta record label, Awful Records.

Don’t know who Father, aka ‘Father’s Liquor Cabinet,’ is? Let’s peep his long tracklist of poppingness. The song he’s mostly known for “Look at Wrist,” he did with iLoveMakonnen & Key! back in 2014. The song has over 7 million views on YouTube and and close to 12 million plays on SoundCloud.

Father also got a shout out from the Champagne Papi on Instagram.

https://www.instagram.com/p/rgMsJYDQMz/

Father was no one hit wonder either. All of his projects are low-key masterpieces. After dropping Young Hot Ebony, he went on to do two more studio albums – Who’s Gunna Get Fucked First and I’m a Piece of Shit.

Not to mention his EP game is crazy.

If you haven’t heard Papicodone …

Boys & Girls Club …

Or L1L D1DDY, you are sleeping!

Not bad for an independent artist, huh?

Father dropped out of college to enter the rap industry. Before making the switch, Father attended Georgia State University where he was pursuing a degree in Chemistry and intended to become a Pharmacist.

Even though Father was captivated by the campus lifestyle of Georgia State and the party/club scene in ATL, according to an interview he did with Vibe, schooling laid the groundwork for Awful Records,

It definitely pushed me towards it. Once I got into Chemistry and realized school wasn’t meant for me, I went to Georgia State University in Atlanta. I enjoyed the campus life there more so than the school itself. I met so many [people] there and that was really a starting point for Awful Records. The party/club scene in Atlanta opened the doors with meeting new people. Some people choose to really get involved in it and then the others choose to be a part of it but focus on school. I was just one of the people who loved the Atlanta party vibe, and that’s what took a hold of me.

His unique talents are incomparable.

Last year, Father took to Twitter when he was compared to megastar rapper, Future.

Peep how tight Father got when he was compared to Future

Don’t test Father because he’ll be ready to shoot the hands on sight. Check out his new visuals for his latest rough em up single “Hands.” Warning: content portrays violence and may not be suitable for children under the age of trap god.

Hands on sight… go off in they shit

Dr. Dre is looking to give back to Compton.

The performing arts center will serve to be more than just part of a school. It will also be a resource for the Compton community. Nothing better than giving back to your own hood.

Jay Z goes on legendary Twitter rant thanking all of his inspirations

Last night,  Jay-Z took to Twitter to thank those who have been an inspiration to him. The rant mentioned both legendary rappers and new blood.

We barely see the rap mogul make any noise on Twitter. So, why was Hov going off? Oh, you don’t know? So, you fell asleep in February and just woke up today?

Yesterday, June 15, 2017, was an important date in music history, make sure you mark your calendar! Jay-Z became the first rapper to be inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame.

His lyrics have given inspiration to those who had no hope and have paved the path for many other wordsmiths after him.

Yesterday, he humbly took a seat alongside the best writers in music history, reminding us on Twitter that it’s not just a win for him it’s a win for us.

Turned a fad into something legendary

Jay-Z has been running the rap game for years and after the SHOF announced that he would be inducted, he received the wide praise of his colleagues.

Fellow artists such as Nas, Chance The Rapper, Andre 3000, Nicki Minaj, Swizz Beatz, and more artists took to Tidal to celebrate Hov’s induction. The tributes include essays and videos marking the special moments each artist had with Jay-Z.

But as for Hov’s appreciative spree on Twitter last night, the specific selection of artists who have inspired him was quite interesting. Jay-Z had a long list of legends including Rakim, KRS, Nas, Pac,  Redman, and much more.

He even mentioned Pres. Barack Obama, who inducted him into the Hall of Fame

What surprised me the most? The appreciation Hov showed to the young rap artist, like, Chance the Rapper, Earl Sweatshirt, Playboi Carti, and ASAP.

It was Hov’s selection of Mac Miller that turned a lot of heads. I’ve never seen Mac fans so hype. Mac Miller actually became a trending topic last night after Hov mentioned him.

When Mac saw this tweet he definitely screamed like a teenage girl, shit, I would’ve

This had me dead

Just peep the spree, where Hov thanked over 90 rappers, yourself

Haha Hov getting tight at Twitter

Hov definitely on one right now, we hope this rant means some new material may be on the way…
