How UNINTERRUPTED x Nike came through with the inspirational drip

UNINTERRUPTED, the media company founded by Lebron James and Maverick Carter, has just released a clothing line that includes a collaboration with Nike’s Air Force 1’s.

James, the champion of athlete empowerment in this era, started UNINTERRUPTED along with his best friend and business partner Carter in 2014.

The slogan of the company, “More Than An Athlete,” embodies what James and Carter have managed to do with the brand in less than five years.

This includes giving players a bigger voice on issues outside of sports, getting athletes their worth in monetary negotiations, and most recently, helping pass the “Fair Pay to Play” Act in California.

For a while now, fans of James and his friends/collaborators have marveled at the UNINTERRUPTED apparel line, but it was only accessible to those involved with the brand.

This hoodie is one example of some fire that goes beyond fashion.

In an effort to end homophobic violence and bullying, @sbird10 and @mrapinoe collaborated with @melodyehsani on a custom hoodie to acknowledge, empower and educate allies of #LGBTQ youth of color. every detail on the design matters. from the lambda symbol to stonewall tribute, not one of the 200 hoodies is the same, but together they unite wearers in support of intersectional young people who are too often marginalized and who face disproportionate levels of attacks and barriers every day. love is loud. love is freedom. stand up for queer youth of color, for people and organizations doing the work that celebrates and protects them and for love with Sue and Megan through our campaign @athletes4impact – details here https://bit.ly/2WBvSMU. @mpjinstitute @translatinacoalition

Now, UNINTERRUPTED is letting their fans get drippy with purpose, highlighted by the awesome Nike x UNINTERRUPTED AF1. Those who do cop will have a chance to write their own message on their AF1s with custom colored sharpies that come in the box.

Also included in the collection are shorts, socks, and hoodies that we see James, Carter, and other influential athletes and celebrities wear on HBO’s The Shop, co-executive produced by UNINTERRUPTED’s two founders.

The available apparel is sure to only increase as the demand goes up.

Nike is already an industry leader in fashion and design, and partnering with UNINTERRUPTED on this apparel will only expand the company’s range.

This collaboration also shows how instrumental James is for the company beyond his play on the basketball court. UNINTERRUPTED is a brand that stands for fairness, equality, and people using their platforms to make a positive difference in the world, and Nike has smartly leaned into this.

So take a peek, and if you like it, go cop, because like UNINTERRUPTED’s message, this apparel is more than just what it looks like on the surface.

By wearing it, you let others know that you are more than your occupation, more than what other’s eyes can see.

Paul George collabed with Nike and Playstation to drop some next level kicks

This month, as you’re reaching for your PS4 controller to play Dragon Ball Fighter Z or Monster Hunter, you might as well dress the part.

Nike has teamed up with PlayStation and Oklahoma City Thunder’s star forward Paul George to create the PG-2 PlayStation Colorway.

Paul George, the 5-time NBA All-Star who has recently been a topic of contention between the Lakers and the Thunder, stated in a PlayStation blog post that his collaboration with the Japanese game console brand and the American athletic brand feels natural and inevitable.

In an interview with the Playstation blog, George said that,

“This collaboration has been a long time coming. Ask me what my favorite PlayStation memory is and I’ll tell you it’s when my dad got me a PS2 for Christmas. I’d been dropping hints left and right because I knew that was it. That was the next big thing.

“You could say the same with Nike. As a kid, I’d make sketches of what I wanted my Nike shoes to look like because it’s something I’ve always wanted to be a part of. Now I have the opportunity to make something very special and personal to me with the help of two of my favorite brands.”

George also mentioned that design choices were made to honor his “game both on and off the court.”

Nike acknowledges similar feelings in its product description, saying that gaming is “a vortex to another battleground of endless opponents” and that the PG-2 “celebrates PG’s affinity for the PS4 and his ability to bring his game wherever he plays, from the court to the console.”

The sneakers feature tongues with the PG and PlayStation logos. With a power button on the inside of the tongues, the logos can light up, and the LED lights can pulsate with the power of a lithium battery.

The midsole is black, flecked with purples and blues in the PlayStation galaxy theme, and completed with a Nike swoosh (the sock liner similarly features the galaxy theme).

The shoes pay homage to PlayStation’s controllers with colored eyelets for the laces which match the classic PlayStation buttons, along with details embossed on the side of the shoe.

Lastly, on the back heel of the left shoe, the sneaker contains a PlayStation voucher coder that offers a Paul George Dynamic Theme for the PS4 and can be redeemed at any PlayStation store.

The PG-2 PlayStation colorway retails at $110. The shoe launch dropped internationally on February 10th and are currently sold out on Nike’s website. It seems that sneaker and gaming fanatics alike have been quick to swipe up a pair of their own.

The merging of gaming and fashion offers exciting possibilities as the volume and demographics of gamers continue to change and grow, according to a 2013 Spil Games study.

Fashion brands, which constantly look for trendy concepts to latch on to and profit from, have been quick to incorporate ideas of “geek chic” and gamer culture.

For example, Nintendo, another Japanese gaming giant, has had various collaborations with brands like Vans and Moschino.

This is cause for celebration for people who like to kill the game as they play the game.

Virgil Abloh explains why Off White x Nike may be the toughest collab yet

2017 seems to be Nike’s best year yet. With hyped releases dropping every week, it’s no wonder Nike is at the top of the food chain. It’s even worth mentioning the many collaborations that it has had this year.

From Tom Sachs to Comme Des Garcons to Supreme, Nike knows not to pull any punches when it comes to giving hypebeasts and fans something to look forward to.

And this next collab seems to be its most promising one yet, maybe even crowned as best shoe(s) of the year.

Nike

On August 21, Nike’s website announced that they would be collaborating with Virgil Abloh’s label, Off-White.

Earlier this year, a similar collaboration had already been done between these two giants. The outcome was a highly coveted, highly limited t-shirt that was released during this year’s NBA All-Star weekend in New Orleans. But what they’ve designed now takes it to the next level.

Nike

So, it was only a matter of time before they would collaborate yet again, this time with some of Nike’s signature shoes.

Nike

In Virgil’s words, he states,

“What we’re talking about here is larger than sneakers, it’s larger than design culture. It’s nothing short of state-of-the-art design. These 10 shoes have broken barriers in performance and style. To me, they are on the same level as a sculpture of David or the Mona Lisa. You can debate it all you want, but they mean something. And that’s what’s important.”

These 10 shoes are divided into two different themes: “REVEALING” and “GHOSTING”. As stated on Nike’s website, the “REVEALING” half are “designed to look accessible: hand-cut, open-source and reconstructed.”

Nike

The shoes included in the collection are the Air Jordan I, Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air Presto, Nike Air VaporMax, and Nike Blazer Mid.

Nike

Virgil said that,

“Most of the creative decisions were made in the first three hours, while actual design and iteration took two to three days. The Jordan I was done in one design session. I work in a very like dream-like state. I see it, and it’s done.”

The “GHOSTING” half are “designed with translucent uppers to further the idea of revealing and unite the second set of silhouettes through common material.”

The sneakers for this theme are the Converse Chuck Taylor, Nike Zoom Fly SP, Nike Air Force 1 Low, Nike React Hyperdunk 2017, and Nike Air Max 97. Virgil’s ultimate goal was to use “common, semi-revealing material” in order to solidify the 94-year history.

Nike

Celebrities like A$AP Rocky, Luka Sabbat, Bella Hadid, and Drake have been spotted wearing the Air Jordan I with their names written on the midsole.

From September 6-8, Nike will host “Nike Off Campus” events in New York City to celebrate The Ten through presentations of the entire collection as well as talk about the sneakers and what ideas inspired them.

Nike

The New York event will take place at 23 Wall Street. London will also have the event from September 14-17 at various locations.

According to Nike, the “REVEALING” half will be pre-released at NikeLab stores in New York City (Sept. 9-13), London (Sept. 18-22), Milan (Sept. 21-25), and Paris (Sept. 26-30).

Nike

There will also be a much wider release of the full collection (all 10 sneakers) in November at NikeLab stores and select retailers.

At this rate, how will Nike outdo itself?

Supreme continues L streak after new Nike and Reebok collab leaks

As the fall season approaches, we all know what that means: Supreme is coming back.

This year is a big year for the streetwear brand as they are opening a new store out in Brooklyn.

But it hasn’t been smooth sailing as of late for Supreme. Their apparent collaboration with Louis Vuitton was deaded. Oh, and let’s not forget those Supreme shirts in Kmart thing that happened a few days ago.

Now, images of a new possible collab between Supreme and Nike have landed on the internet. From the pics it is hard to tell exactly what they might look like but as with any Supreme x Nike collab these will definitely see some hype.

The leak comes from @supreme_leaks_news who credited @lazyfish28 for the pics.

Possible Supreme x Nike FW17 leak 👀 Second shoe looks to be a reebok What’s your thoughts on this? 📸 – @lazyfish28

Guess Supreme saw Vetements x Reebok and liked the aesthetic where the shoe looked as if it would be part of the Rebook Pump line up.

Now, the new Nike x Supreme tongue looks as if it come from Nike’s Streak Zoom

More recently @supreme_leaks_news dropped pics based on what the new Brooklyn store box logo might look like.

The bogo does give off a Brooklyn graffiti vibe so thats dope.

The red on white is definitely a most cop but I wouldn’t be surprised if people are already out there camping.

Hopefully with a new store in NY lines here won’t be as bad but at the same time, it’s Supreme so it’ll still be brazy.

As with any leak, take these with a grain of salt.
